  1. Hi Zzap.

If you're using the audi configurator then the code for my configuration is ACMEZ230

Daytona grey though after much deliberation! Quartz grey also looks great in the flesh.

In terms of deal, I think it works well for me for a couple of reasons - I'd ordered a petrol vRS with around 4k of options so came in around 28500-29000 and I got a bit dizzy on the 0% etc so barely managed any deal from the dealer. Anyway, 5k down plus a part ex on my old merc for 1750 left me with monthlies of 290 over 42months iirc. Skoda offered me 1250 more for my car than any other vag/merc dealer so this was the only real 'discount'.

Still a bit gutted not to be going down the petrol route, but hey ho. Residual value and also just the difficulty getting hold of one (whether Skoda or audi) has softened my view! Audi said June for an a4 2.0tfsi Quattro when I was enquiring in Jan after cancelling the vRS.

I'm putting 6k down on the audi, over 48 months the payments are 326 with the additional options I specced. Car was 31005 vs list of 39950. This would be just over the 300mark though if you went for solid black/white etc. this was via carwow and two audi dealers offered the same price (both south east) which was a few hundred quid more than the drivethedeal price, but they had stock which was already ordered (audi converted something like 300 multitronics to ultras) and that they could alter the spec on. We desperately need the car (hence all the trouble with the vRS!) so have taken a slight hit for the early delivery. One thing worth being aware of is that the gfv does not take any options into account, so has a big impact on monthlies if you start ticking things. The black editions are very well equipped though! Ultra also means you get power boot, 73 litre tank etc in addition over old multitronic which is nice!

I went through Coulsdon audi in the end, very impressed by them too. Never got any contact from my Skoda dealer (although to be fair, they gave me my deposit back without quibble) which was very frustrating.

Good luck with the other half! Mine didn't take a lot of convincing as was so bored of me talking about cars by that point that she was barely listening! Killer tactics ;)

    Cheers,

    Olls

    Hi Olls

I'm just re-reading these threads as we ordered a Daytona Grey S Line A6 but this has already been built and is waiting at the port.

Can I ask where you heard about the conversion Audi are making to existing A6's to Ultras, I'm not sure I want to run the risk of having any issues with a converted vehicle as opposed to one that's purpose built on the production line.

Drive the deal is looking the best but never used them before.

    Cheers

    Dave

  2. Hi Dave,

The black edition is under a6 special edition on drive the deal I think. Separate choice on the drop down.

    Happy hunting!

Thanks for pointing that out, I can see it now.

Also, don't get the 177. The ultra is the 190 and they are discontinuing the 177 so residuals much better for the 190. And more go!

My mistake, I meant the 190 for the Ultra, as you say much much bettter over the standard.

    Cheers

    Dave

  3. Ok so I made a mistake,

The offer I had through from CarWow for just under £25k was for the A6 177 SE Ultra S-Tronic, not the black.

DriveTheDeal don't list the A6 Black, the highest spec shown is S-Line.

SE Ultra S-Tronic 177 TDI  is coming in at £24599

    S-Line Ultra S-Tronic 177 TDI is £26098

You lose a lot going from Black to SE apart from the styling details there's no xenon, no sports seats, no LED rear lights and no BOSE speakers and no sports suspension.

To the SE you'd have to upgrade the wheels from 17" as they look a bit lost in the arches.  The 18's look ok but that's another £600.

    Cheers

    Dave

  4. Thanks for taking the time to detail that Olls.

Funnily enough it's Coulsdon Audi that I was considering as they responded to the CarWow request, seems like they genuinely want the business.

As for the other half, she's at the glazed look whenever I mention cars stage, I think she's be happy with anything at this point.

    Cheers

    Dave

  5. I couldn't believe the discount given it's a car with a few years before a new model and the ultra offers huge improvements all round on the old 177 multitronic. Think it's 1800 off for cash or 2250 if using audi finance. This is built into the drivethedeal and carwow offers though I believe.

Doing it via PCP it was the residual value of the audi that made it a no brained over the vRS. Balanced out the 0% finance to some extent but in the end I just thought for the sake of a takeaway each month extra it's a no brainer. I have bw11 confirmed for mine, but think they are quoting May now.

Talking to a friendly audi dealer he said hat the q7's and q5's have crazy lead times at the moment so they are heavily discounting the a6/7's to try and sway people back to the slightly less trendy models.

I had a look on the Audi configurator and I can see that the Black Ultra does come with sports suspension but no option to delete it, one for the dealer on Monday I think.

SE looks ok but needs speccing up a bit, Black Ultra goes totally the other way, does look good tho.  20" tyres are NOT going to be cheap :)

I think the only option I would add is the 3-spoke sports steering wheel with paddle shift.

Without wanting to pry too much Chief, could you give us an example of the figures you went with e.g deposit (I think it's minimum 5%), monthly payments etc, it's just that the other half may need a bit of prying away from the 0%.

Totally understand if you'd rather not.

Who was the Audi dealer and what colour did you go for just out of interest?

    Cheers

  6. I ordered my vRS petrol estate on 30th dec, having heard nothing for 3 weeks then been told 20-23 weeks by SUK I cancelled, got deposit back and have ordered an Audi A6 avant black edition ultra. Brand new model with 190ps and s tronic rather than the cvt gearbox. £30 a month more on PCP for a £28500 otr price for the vRS and a 39995 otr for the a6. Got a fantastic price via carwow - 9k off which took it ridiculously close to the skoda

Confirmed bw11 for the audi so picking up early April. Couldn't be happier!!

I've just looked on drivethedeal and the A6 saloon ultra black s-tronic is coming in at below £25k with nearly £8k off, that's a seriously good deal and even beats the A4 option I was considering.

I'm seriously considering cancelling my order which is build week 13 and does have the 0% and free servicing for this.

Does the black edition come with the uncompromisingly harsh suspension though?

    Cheers

  7. I had the same dilemma. Currently drive a Blackline Dsg. Whilst it's very good I do feel detached from the driving experience at times. The car doors also feel nose heavy due to the added weight. Therefore I went manual on my new vRS. £1300 cheaper, lower road tax, not nose heavy. Also better mpg.

I like my manual, the 6 speed box is very smooth and you feel 'in control' if you get my drift. The dsg box is very marmite-my dealer said its better suited to the tsi engine so I followed his advice and stayed clear. They are good if you do alot of stop start motoring and want to save your left leg from suffering clutchitus. Decent test drives in both will be the big decider though and will probably be the thing that will settle it Good luck.

Good points on the weight and costs.

I think part of it is the commute with stop/start which is tedious in my current manual car but I fo move around quite a lot for my work (IT contractor) so it might not be too much of an issue, of course saying that I might be there a while.

  8. After much deliberation I've decided not to go for the Metal Grey, for me there's too much green in it.  If it had been similar to Audi's Daytona grey I would have gone for it.

So it's back to conservative Brilliant Silver with silver trim, a bit boring maybe but I think it looks quite classy.

Now deliberating whether to go DSG or not

Interior picture of Metal Grey against Alfa dark grey.  These are a bit misleading as the Alfa grey is a very black grey rather than the almost brown looking colour here.  Similarly the Metal Grey isn't represented quite acurately, it shows a much greener/bluish hue here.

  10. Visited dealer today and viewed the swatch for Metal Grey. I must say that it was much darker than the image posted by Janneschaffer http://www.skodaforum.nl/forum/threads/kleurkeuze-octavia-3.19477/page-7

The closest comparison of the swatch to the images posted on this thread so far are actually the images from the Skoda configurator and those posted yesterday by Janneschaffer from a Polish article on the Superb. The images of the Superb appear highly reflective / polished whereas the configurator images appear a little more solid, although the Metal Grey is a metallic colour.

Either way I was sufficiently satisfied to change my order to Metal Grey, but as he dealer tried to change the order in the system, it was reporting that the Metal Grey was not available although I could see it on the colour options available on the order system. The dealer thinks that the order system has not been fully updated as the Metal Grey has only just been made available. Dealer going to phone Skoda factory on Monday to sort out issue and will let me know.

I was also advised that I now have a provisional build date of week 12, which apparently had moved from week 15. I hope that there are further improvements to build dates as the wait is too long.

Thanks for posting that mo.  Actually I was hoping it was going to be darker than the swatch.

    Cheers

  11. My dealer has confirmed I can change to Metal Grey. In fact I am going in tomorrow as they have a colour swatch of Metal Grey which has just been received, so that I can see it before making a final decision. I will let you know how I get on.

Sounds good mo, could you kindly post your thoughts on here once you've seen it and as to how it compares to the images of metal grey above please?

I'll visit my dealer this weekend and see if they can get hold of a swatch.

Looks like the UK Skoda configurator has been updated to show Metal Grey although it still doesn't show Moon White.  Maybe that will be a Superb colour only.

  12. Just waiting on dealer to confirm that I can change colour to Metal Grey. The threads on this topic have convinced me to change from Race Blue, a colour that I initially liked but then started having doubts with.

Vrs only ordered on 18 December, so don't anticipate any issues in changing colour choice. Interior trim to be silver and wheels kept to standard anthracite.

Still haven't seen a vRS hatchback on the roads yet and when they do become more visible on the roads then hopefully the Metal Grey will be a little more unique from the numerous Race Blue and Candy White models that other forum members have chosen.

Did your dealer give you any feedback on changing the colour?  I've emailed my change to my dealer but not had anything back yet,

    Cheers

  13. Leather seats with red trim, anthracite gemini and sunset  :bandit:

To me that sounds like the perfect combo :)

Nice, I'm going for the same except sunset glass.  I didn't order black pack with the original (brilliant silver) but I think I'm going to add black pack to this one.  Looks awesome.

Lets just hope dealer can change it.
