I thought there were two versions of Lane Assist?

Lane Assist and Adaptive Lane Guidance, one being more or less standard on all Kodiaq’s, the other requiring / utilising the ACC cost option?

My 2023 SE L Exec doesn't have lane keep assist, THANK GOD!!

On my 2021 Octavia vRS it was the very first thing I turned off, every trip.

I use the front and rear fogs. Yeh it's a 1st world problem but the point is I just feel for the handle and pull it one step for driving lights, two steps for fog.  When we alter things then it's usually for the better, IMO it's worse solution.

    When do you use them?

I can't remember more than once or twice that i've needed front or rear fogs in the last few years.

It is not illegal to fit a towbar to a vehicle irrespective of what weight limits are specified in the CoC.

If I am incorrect and you know of such a law then please post it.

Indeed, but if it's rated as zero towing capacity it will most definately be illegal to tow with it. EVER.

If it's rated to tow get a towbar fitted but not by the dealer as they'll just farm the job out.

I've had towbars fitted to 2 Kodiaq, neither had prep, neither had any problems.

In Kodiaq this engine doesn't sound any better.

It can be coded, but default behavior in Kodiaq will be the same i think.

The Kodiaq isn't sold as a 'performance' car so it's irrelevant.

Haven't had such issues, my ACC works ok. But again - in Kodiaq you have exactly same system.

Kodiaq has cruise not adaptive cruise so not the same system.

I would expect Kodiaq to consume 20-30% more than O4.

Different state of tune so hopefully no worse.

I'm not defending your O4 here. It's pretty subjective, but i understand your feelings about this car.

My point is, that you're changing O4 to Kodiaq, which is based on exactly same platform and tech, so at least some of the issues you had with O4 will also be present in Kodiaq. You probably should've look at some other brands.

This will be my third Kodiaq so I know what i'm buying.

  5. My time with my petrol dsg vRS Estate will be ending on Monday when I collect a brand new Kodiaq SE L Executive 190tsi in black magic. This will be my third Kodiaq.

I really can't say i'll miss the Octy apart from the looks. The vRS estate in race blue does look awesome imo.

My main problems with the Octavia are the fake noise that I have to disable EVERY time I drive the car. The fact the fake noise is needed because the engine sounds like a bloody sewing machine. It sounds ok in VW and Seat so why not in the Skoda?

The lane keep assist that also has to be disabled EVERY time. The early infotainment problems that have mostly been fixed it appears. I haven't driven on a motorway recently so couldn't say if the homicidal adaptive cruise would still be trying to kill me or not.

I know it's a performance model but the fuel consumption still isn't good.

Overall I won't miss the car as due to it's 'problems' I haven't really in all honesty enjoyed owning it. It's a 'sporty' model it should excite and for me it didn't. I'm sure others will disagree.

The last time I felt this flat about a car was a 2007 VW Golf R32 which I also didn't really get along with, that was quick but by the time you were having fun you were going at silly speeds.

Maybe i'm just getting old (I am) but that's how I feel after almost 2 years with the car. I think if the car had a 'fruity' exhause note, nothing too silly but something to show some sporting credentials I may have felt differently.

Anyhow that's just my thoughts, some may agree, some might strongly disagree but I thought I would share,

  6. Last owned a Kodiaq almost 2 years ago. A 190bhp diesel SE L. Swapped that for an Octavia vRS tsi dsg estate. Didn't really bond with the vRS due to ongoing infotainment woes, bland engine note and bloody stupid fake noise.

It does look great though in race blue.

Visited the dealer on Thursday to view a few used Kodiaq but were offered a deal we could not refuse on an unregistered SE L 190tsi that was sitting in the showroom resplendant in black magic. Hopefully collect it early next week.

My old SE L was pre facelift and a few of the up(down) grades are obvious, such as no removeable torch in the boot and only one brolly. Got 2 in the Octavia so i'm keeping one.

I can also see the full leather, electric memory drivers seat and reversing camera my old car didn't have. What else will I find different from the older car?

I believe the virual cockpit isn't like the one my vRS has but a lesser version?

    Any comments or observations welcome.

    Many thanks.

Looks well good mate. What fuse did you put it to?

    Does parking mode work OK?

That's not hardwired it's using the factory fitted usb c in the mirror surround.

I have mine there too but it switches off with the ignition.
