  1. I've seen a few octavias with an all black front grill now and was just wondering where you guys get them from or if it was a mod done to the oe chrome one to make it black?

Also need a new grill as two of my slats are broken with one totally missing :(

Being new to the skoda scene I'm not too up on who does what as I've previously just been an Mg man so any pointers in the right direction would be great.

    :D

  2. Ah ok that's something I will have a check of too. I never got a chance to strip it down or investigate today as when I got back in the heavens opened and it wouldn't have been a great idea to be doing that.

All the advice is much appreciated and hopefully will provide a permanent fix to my current issue.

Fingers crossed I can have a go on it tomorrow :)

  3. No worries you are welcome.

The golf and seat leon all share same floor pan as the octavia so all have same wiring and common faults too.

Hope you get it fixed buddy.

    Sent from my Samsung S3

Thanks very much, new they were similar but not identical with certain things.

Just waiting on my door solenoid coming through, worked out they seem very similar throughout the ranges.

Will post up some progress as soon as it looks like I'm getting somewhere, cheers :)

  4. Thanks for that reply, I will set about checking that tomorrow then. Sounds similar to my friends cupra r, his was like a swimming pool in all footwells when he got it :(

Great help, it's made me much happier that it isn't an odd issue and hopefully it'll be the end of it after tomorrow then.

I have searched for water leaks and so on but most referred to the drainage channels wing blocked by leaves or some referring to the windscreen rubbers.

    Thanks very much mate :D

  5. So is it one of those things that is reasonably common? I did have a look at the rubbers but it all looks ok but I've never seen inside another octavia before.

I shall have another look tomorrow then and see what I can find.

If any other options to check just incase that'll be good but I must admit I was wondering if would be the sills.

Are they easy or rather reasonably cheap to get hold of to replace or is there another fox that can be done?

  6. Hi all, new to the vag world here so this is my first Octavia. I picked it up yesterday and new it had one or two little issues to contend with but this one I don't know where to start looking as nothing is visible from where the soggy carpet is situated.

It's mainly in the passenger rear, the bit of carpet between the plastic trim that holds the carpet down and between the seat base is rather damp and then the corner of the actual foot well closest to that bit is very damp and wet but in a 3" diameter.

Is this something others have suffered from and is there a probable and likely cause that's easy to fix?

Any help will be most appreciated :)

  7. Haha, yeah like a ninja. Thanks for the welcome.

She knows ill be modding it along the way as I always do but I don't think she's expecting it to go as far as I'm already planning.

Once the issues are sorted, have a minor leak somewhere I need to source where I have a soggy carpet in the n/s rear between the door shut and seats which goes to the floor pan in the corner? That needs rectifying and then replacing my d/s lock motor as that has also given up the ghost but then she knows I've planned coilovers, spacers, possibly some S3 wheels or twists as brother in law has both available and then some performance related tweakery with usual bypasses and filters an exhaust.

Got a fair old list I want to do already :D

  8. Christ, I already have a serious lack of that as just been made redundant, have 2 young children one of 5 and one of 1 years old, rent and getting married in March. Wealth doesn't come into my lifestyle at present at all lol

Certainly is inspiration though and I can seem spending more on this one when the mrs isn't looking ;)

  9. Hello to all, my name is Craig and I am in Essex. As of 2.45pm today I now officially own a mk1 Octavia Vrs in Red, my first of any vag group car.

Has a few niggles in fairness, for what I paid I can't grumble too much but as it was raining (worst thing for looking over the bodywork) it as of this evening has proved it was hiding a little bit more of the imperfections than I thought. I'm just hoping that come the morning I don't look out there and think omg :) . In fairness though, it's a Y plate, 124k with fsh and sea to drive very nicely. Feels a bit soft and wallowey but S I've come from a heavily modded zs180 that was very stiff indeed I am very surprised at how nice it feels.

Just finding my feet with them all now, looked into a few things but as I know have one we shall see how it goes.

Will be asking about a few of the issues to see if regular probs and what's the best ways to solve.

Overall though a lot of car for the money.

    Big hello to all.

    Craig
