nice car, might be coincidence but a guy at my works brother thats a valeter just sold a black 04 vrs, with the same mileage in the same condition, he didnt own it long and the guy who owned it before him lived in crossgates in fife I think he replaced it with a v5 golf

price is too high, I just bought mine recently, same colour, 87k miles, totally standard, full years mot and in a decent nick with a few wee niggles here and there but nothing major, I basically stole it for £1k

My work is only 6 miles away, with mixed b road and town driving (like a granny) 22-23 mpg genuine

I'll also give that a try this weekend, thanks for the help mate

Hi mate, cheers for the reply, yes I think I'll have to remove the filter housing and clean it all up and seal this properly.
The car doesn't have a sunroof and water sits right along the bottom of the door seal, I'll dry it all and try the chalk technique when I get a chance and see whats what.
Thanks mate

Hi folks, my octavia vrs has hit an Iceberg.
1) Water is coming in the front passenger footwell from under the glovebox/pollen filter area.
I've had a go at fixing this today, removed the scuttle cover to find a previous bodge where the plastic scuttle cover had the drainage slope snapped off which had been tiger sealed to the actual pollen filter housing?
I removed all this to find a semi blocked drain to the wing area with an electrical cable through it, and I partly removed the wheel arch liner enough to remove the compost build up and ran water through with a hose to ensure it was clear.
The pollen filter housing has been tiger sealed to the car by a previous owner but there was water droplets sitting below the filter where it goes into the blower, any ideas?
2) The rear passenger side door also letting water in which seemed to be from the door card, which I removed to find a shredded membrane, and door drains blocked with broken glass and it looks like the small non moving part of the door glass has been replaced in the past.
I made sure the drains were clear and resealed with plastic sheeting and duct tape and put it all back together, the door now drains fine but water is still getting in through the door seal I think :'(

What about if you want to replace number 1
I had a quick look at all these pipes at the weekend, I'm sure that pipe is metal on my car

I've recently bought my vRS and aim to eventually reach stage 2 also, my car needs a bit of TLC first however and then handling improvements before I add any more bhp.
I'm a big e30 fan also and have owned a few, and a few other old bmws

Cheers bud

will do, did they come with new jubilee clips and were any adapters needed to fit the hoses?
-
Thats the same pipe (top breather) that has split on mine, I've not had the car long and have been experiencing pretty crap idle and some questionable running issues, hopefully this will fix it, should both of these be changed at the same time?
sorry for the newb thread hijack cheers for the link

Hi folks, I'm Kev from the wee Fife town of Kelty in Scotland.
This is my first foray into Skoda ownership (mk1 octavia vrs), and I'm looking forward to getting to know people on here and extracting the best out of my car.
Have a good evening everyone
vrs idle woes, what to do first?

Hi folks,
My 2001 vrs which I recently bought is acting up on start up and I'm asking for advice on what to try first before I waste time and money on the wrong things.
Upon start up revs rise to 1400rpm when cold and sometimes even when warm, when the revs start to drop to normal idle speed, sometimes the idle bounces and the car loses power and has stalled on one occasion.
If I keep the revs above around 1500rpm then the car does move off normally and seems fine but as soon as the revs drop again it seems to lose power and feel like its about to stall.
When the car has warmed up it seems to run better but low revs are still a bit hit and miss.
I have also noticed an intermittent power delivery where usually I get decent response at around 1800rpm when the turbo kicks in but sometimes it feels dead and doesnt seem to kick in till about 2200rpm and seems to deliver it all at once especially if ive changed gears.
Engine temp virtually never goes above the 1/4 mark about 60 to 70 degrees even in traffic, the coolant temp sensor is green on my car, dont know when it was fitted.
Y piece breather hose is split and taped up (by previous owner ) where it joins the lower section.
Engine management light has now come on.
I'm going to order a cheap code reader and report back some error codes and had planned to clean the throttle body and maf to see if this helps?
any advice greatly appreciated,
cheers, Kev.
