Wonderful stuff, the post race press interviews were interesting, riders said how much they enjoyed it! The Championship is wide open, even if Rossi manages to win it again it won't spoil the fun. Much, much more entertaining than F1.

I have one, I changed from a 1.6 VW Golf. The Octy has the 115bhp engine, the Golf had the 105bhp. Early days yet, but overall I can't detect much difference between them. I think the Octy is a bit higher geared so although it's about 10-15% more frugal with the petrol, and high-speed cruising is quieter, it seems a bit less torquey on hills. As has been said, it depends on what you're comparing it with!

Another vote for T'bird, the inbuilt spam learning filter, plus your own definable message filters, achieve about 99% accuracy spam detection.

At the end of the day it's their blood pressure and heart attack, not yours. Better to know you're in the right and live to enjoy another day thah risk getting rammed (or worse). People don't realise they're in charge of a potential lethal weapon, and it's always the inncoecnts that get hurt the most.

Easy peasy to fit yourself, and definitely worth getting. The decorative ones look good but I think the standard black ones cover a bit more sill. Dealer threw the standard ones in for free. The eBay ones look good value if you want the posher ones.

Just for interest, where is the audible alarm situated (on an Octy), is it a horn or a siren, and how do I test it without breaking something? (please
)
-
Try going down it on a push bike! The view from the top is frigyhtening, and the top few hairpins (47 in all) are pretty scary, there's hardly any time to let the brakes off between bends, and they (used to) have corrugated corners to aid car wheel traction.

I'm running my (6 week old) 1.6 FSI Octy on Tesco or Morrisons super-unleaded, and have noted some slight pinking when accelerating under load e.g. uphill (yes I am using the correct gear ratio!). Never had any problems using the same stuff with my (ex-)Golf, and normally I'd have blamed weak mixture/retarded ignition timing, but would changing to 99 RON or even Esso/BP 97 cure it in the Octy?
-
Having just swapped my 01 Golf 1.6 for an 06 Octy 1.6 I can say categorically that, for similar models, the Octy is a) roomier all round,
about 20% more fuel efficient, c) similar in performance (old Golf was 105bhp, Octy is 115bhp), d) better equipped, e) generally quieter and f) cheaper!

8.5 weeks for me, order to delivery/pickup

Tough luck m8. Someone did the same to my (ex-)Golf in my gym car park. Whatever happened to honesty, integrity and good old-fashioned neighbourliness? Or failing that, a good kick in the radiator of the culprit? And on another subject, why should this affect the NCD on my motorbike????

Got my Talex Lite update kit today, couple of false starts getting the thing to connect but everything worked eventually and, contrary to Pete's statement, no problem with McAfee firewall. I don't have the Privacy option iinstalled, so maybe that's the key issue.
-
Not embarrassed at all but I'm already getting fed up of explaining to people why I'm not! Someone said today that he thought it was a Jag when he saw the front from a distance - now that's just a rebadged Ford!!
-
Thanks for the McAfee tip, Pete, I can't see why it should matter but I'll bear it in mind when I do my update. I agree with you about the display in bright light, it's the only thing I've found to fault so far.
-
Thanks Johnny. Yes the relay is for just that purpose, and your conclusion is the only one I can think of too. I'll take the relay out first and see if that cures the problem. Unfortunately , as you say, that means the parking beeper triggers when I pass through R, and also means I'll probably trigger the bulb failure monitor circuit. Any thoughts on how best to access an ignition switched feed for the relay?

I use 123-REG http://www.123-reg.co.uk part of PIPEX. Nothing fancy but had good service from them, not much more than £30 p.a. but there's a one-off set-up cost.
-
Noop, it's a quanan 4 sensor kit with additional relay. Worked fine when tested/fitted, ignition/engine on/off - but that was before I locked the car/set the alarm!
-
Retro-fitted parking sensors yesterday, including a relay to stop beeping when moving through R on auto gearbox. Relay needs a live feed, taken off boot light supply.
All fitted and tested satisfactorily, locked car, went to bed reasonably happy
. Unlocked car this morning, switched on ignition, horn started beeping. Tried relocking/unlocking car, same problem, several times. Very embarrassing for me, very annoying for neighbours (especially the one on nights!). Horn stops when ignition turned off again, and stops when engine started, but so far haven't driven car anywhere. :(
I guess problem must be something to do with parking sensor wiring, anybody got any (sensible!) suggestions please?

12 months subscription for a talex seems to be cheaper than for a talex-lite
That's 'cos the Talex has a 6 month subscription and update cable provided, whilst the Talex Lite has no "free subs" and when you do subscribe there's a

Yes! Bought mine last week for £69.99 in Tesco, but got a discounted update subscription so basically same price as Aldi. Worked straight out of the box, knew all the camera sites in my locality and advised me of two mobile sites I hadn't noticed before.

Mugello '06 must rate as one of (if not the) best MotoGP's EVER! I'm so pleased I recorded it as well as watched it live, I've a feeling I shall be watching it again ... and again. Rossi would have been a great loss to bikes, I'm sure he'd have been very frustrated in F1 - and if/when he does go, he wants to go out on a high i.e. as MotoGP World Champ, something which is not (yet) certain for this year.

I use Total Recorder from http://www.highcriteria.com/
Works a treat, cost me £10 for full standard version, well worth it.

Creaking!!!!
in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)

Not creaking, but it sounds as if I have a canary trapped in the back somewhere behind the drivers seat, occasional squeaking which I can't tie down to anything in particular. Looks like I need a passenger to crawl around in the back for a few miles!
