  1. How I bought mine rang about one was sold said they had one coming in part ex. I got the pre clean pics with the previous owners plate on it and a walk around video. Bought blind and had it sent to me 400 miles on a trailer. Bought on spec rather than model. I drove both pfl 230 and 220, went with 220 due to spec. Enjoy
  2. Just had 40k interim and dsg service. Pads about 40% worn on front. I've had the car since 27k and pads not been changed. As above mind really does depend in driving style, I barely use the brakes
  3. If for any random reason despite following everything @ahenners has said with your micro sd card, try it via USB again, obviously with a larger gb stick. I tried numerous times via sd and followed all the info on the forum and failed. Tried it via USB and worked first time. Others have reported same thing. In short dont lose faith if its doesn't work via sd card.
  4. An interior freshen up for me today. Some Gyeon interior cleaner and coating. Also grabbed some other bits but they are for another day. Lost light for final pics of the whole interior. To start And 50/50 Nice matte finish For another day
  5. Its frustrated me, and many others it appears on here as to why they didn't come as standard. I'll blame inflation but £31 delivered from a Skoda dealer online. Would cost me a fiver in fuel round trip so not to bad. It's the little things 👍 DSG oil change next
  6. A modest upgrade, rear sill protectors. Will make watching my three and half year old climb/jump/trample/fall aboard a bit more bearable.
  7. Given your annual mileage I don't think you will have any issues with the length of time you wish to keep it regardless which model you buy. There were specification changes in 2015. Anything built post week 22 (about June 15) will by a model year 2016. One of the main differences being the addition of smart link with the radio/infotainment. Which brings me to the point. Buy on what spec you want and condition. I looked at a 15 220tsi and a 16 230. The 230 had 2 owners, 40k mixed history, folding mirrors, electric seats, the VAQ diff and smart link. The 220 had heated screen (winter pack), canton, 1 owner, FSSH, and was being sold by Originol supplier with 25k on the clock and 3k less. I went with the 15 220.
  8. Exactly the same issue on my old Leon. First discs and pads changed at 50k then every 3-4k they would 'warp. Went through 5 sets from cheap to OEM to higher quality items. Was sure it wasn't my style of driving as through my work would drive 15/20 different cars repeatedly all with new brakes and no issues. In the end it came down to hubs. Replaced and no issues. Think it came down to the hubs being out by only a few mm but the knock on effect was greater. I never caused any front end damage and the previous owner couldn't of as I picked it up on 21k and changed at 50k without issues.
  9. Purchased two Michelin PS4's to replace the Bridgestones. Not the most Gucci of things to purchase but needs must
  10. Something a little moody on route to work one morning before the clocks went forward.
  11. 220 TSi DSG. 230miles Norfolk to Shropshire, fully loaded with kids seats and a boot full of kids stuff packed to the ceiling. 37mpg indicated on maxi dot. I'm now sitting on half a tank having left on full. Long term average is 36.
  12. From previous posts my understanding is that the dedicated loom integrated with the vehicles system ensures that the parking sensors are muted/disconnected when in reverse. It does not allow stability control to be switched off, won't allow the DSG box (if you have DSG) to coast as per eco mode and I'm sure there's a couple of other things too. Price wise a quick look at phones website would suggest a detachable tow bar with dedicated electrics would be around the £3-400 Mark depending type of electrics and tow bar. Possible fitting to add on top.
  13. It won't fit in the living room, other than that it's a great car, to me and many others say the same, it just dies everything well, it's no sports car, performance car, people carrier but it progresses nicely, cheap to run, fit three adults and a bootful comfortably. I have a 3yr old, 1yr old and a dog and we load our estate up and everything fits....Just. Servicing costs Depends On if car in long life circa every 18-20k or fixed every 12 months/10k. Most dealers do fixed servicing, oil and filter £99, interim £169 and major £279. You can knock money off those at any decent independent garage. Tyres, assuming your on 225/40/18. Ditchfinders can be had for £54 each. A mid range Avon ZV7 £ 80 and premiumstuff from Goodyear/Michelin from £95. Tax for your diesel is £30 a year. Not to sure on big things specific to the tdi but water pump failure was one to look out for. Think his may be related to plastic impeller used. Do a quick search on here for problems as I'm a petrol man so not clued up on tdi specific probs.
  14. Another vote for the Goodyear Asymmetric 3's here. Had two sets and two sets of the asymmetric 2's in my time. Last set of 3's were on 4mm after 14k, all motorway. As said value for money hard to beat, I've not tried Michelin Pilots which also come up a lot in these conversations.
  15. Had a 2010 1.6tdi manual. 105bhp 5 speed. I believe the year your looking at is 110hp and 6 speed, I may stand corrected. It averaged 47mpg over 30k odd. It was a fine cruiser but as you've mentioned (with your passat) it did struggle a little when fully loaded. If I were in the market then I'd look for the 2.0l just to give that extra bit of power. Found myself having to plan with the 1.6 for overtakes and more often than not waiting for suitable gap in motorway traffic. Just converted to DSG from manual and I'm a convert.
  16. I have a 2015 vrs estate. I purchased genuine ones online which state fit all models bar vrs. They fit fine. Part no. is 5E0075101
  17. 2015 220 DSG here. Echo comments about DSG having converted from manual I'm really enjoying it. I've done 6k and average about 37mpg. Up to 44mpg being best. Winter pack and spare wheel probably best two options. Thankfully I have them both. As Sasha mentioned go for MY16, anything 65 plate on will be. Some 15 plates will be but 65 on to be sure. Petrol models seam to be rarer and command a bit more over TDi of which there are plenty.
  18. I agree with many of the comments in relation to the DSG Vs manual saga. Learning an auto like any other, it's not clunky, people often complain of the 1st/2nd gear lurch but learning, anticipating or sport modes cures that. Having also lived in the south east and still go back there a recent bridge crossing had my left foot thanking me for having DSG. I switched from manual to DSG (more so because the spec I wanted I could only find with DSG). I enjoy the manual shift aspect but generally find myself in normal, driving a bit slower and relaxed. Would I go back to manual, probably not.............unless my 6 numbers come up.
  19. 220 TSI DSG here. Made change from TDi, I read hundreds of TDi vs TSi so here's my 10pence. I have an 18 mile B road commute and get between 32-42mpg (depends how late I am). Other journey are either short shopping trips or long 2hr family visits. 44mpg being best on one trip. Had between 320-420 miles from a tank. Long term average after 6k is 36.7mpg.
  20. MIB2 was installed from week 22 which equates to anything built after late May. To be safe if it's built June 2015 on will be MIB2. Flat bottomed wheel came in 2014 I believe so anything from then will have flat bottomed steering wheel.
  21. Ah sorry misunderstood, (didn't read properly!).
  22. My understanding having researched this prior to buying (then ended up with canton) was the programming refers to the amplifier set up for the specific car. As such you select your car, download the file from Helix then pop the SD card into the helix system. So there no actual programming/VCDS to do. Having read a lot of the Golf forums (UK and German) the specific car set up is a must as most people reported significant improvements in sound quality.
