Which windscreen wipers - 2015 VRS Estate
I've just fitted Bosch A860S aerotwin to my 2015 vrs estate. Exactly what I had on before. No issues with last set and rhd.

Any Skoda specialists in Norfolk ?
Ive been using Clive Attowe on Salhouse Road. Can't fault their service and honesty. Been using them since 2020/21. Clive and Dale are very knowledgeable with all things VAG. Up front with pricing amd some bills have been less than expected or quoted.

Leave selector in position P => will it pass the MOT?
Mines been doing it for about 3 years. Sometime I get it flash up 6 times jn 10 mins, other times once every 4 months. Just never got rou d to applying the fix. But jn those 3 years it's never failed an MOT and I've even had it flash up when I parked it at the test centr. It never leaves a light on the dash as it flashed up and goes. So don't worry about it.

tyres
I've always sworn by Goodyear Assymetrics, had the 3 the 5 and the 6. Friend the same and now on GYA 6 (albeit on a 130i) Due to cost and a refurb I ended up with a set of Hankook S1 Evo3.l currently. I've had PS4's before in the VrS. For me the PS4s were fine wear wise but we're poorer than the GYA's in cooler or from start up. Once warm both performed as good as the other. I'm not able to eek any extra benefit from either on the roads so I always ended up with GYA's as they were cheaper. The current s1 Evo3. There is no rim protection at all, which is annoying as whilst I'm not in the habit of hitting curbs the protection on the PS4' and GYA's saved the odd nic a couple of times over the years. They are very slippery in the cold, damp, as all summer performance tyres are but these are worse than the others. Having said that a recent 2hr drive in heavy rain I found them to be as good as the others sure footed and dealt with standing water. I had confidence in them. Dry weather they are all I need but not as much grip as the GYA's. I paid £75 fitted a corner at a time when the GYA's were £105. But prices seemed to have come down considerably since I purchased about 12 months ago. Hence I got them as with a refurb it was a hefty bill. I'd go back to GYA's but I'm a matching 4 kind of guy so it means rotating and then a bill for all 4 again. Milage I've always had 15k out of GYA's. Got 28K on a set of rears. 20 years ago I was doing GYA's and Potenzas in 6K on my old 150 PD Leon. But I've grown up, and slowed down a little since then, well I tell myself that. In short Goodyear Assymetric 6's

water vapour from exhaust
I have a 2015 220 TSi and have exactly the same 'signs' as you, got it checked by garage even after reading everything on here. Same result, perfectly normal.

Columbus Map Update 2024-2025 (MIB2 HIGH)
To confirm the above link (the mega.nz one) does not support MIB1 Columbus? My MIB1 columbus + canton is MY2015, I last updated the maps in 2018 via a link on his forum. Will I need to go back to the previous map update 2024 or have I read it wrong and this latest update can be used for MIB1? If I can use this latest posts links, which link do I use, the Mega.nz or the ones listed under VW portal? I've read previous years updates but things get way to technical with file types and all sorts and I put it off until next year! Thanks Steve

Skoda Octavia Vrs Petrol - What mpg do you get?
2015 220 TSi DSG here. I used to do a cross country 20 mile commute which saw me easily get 38-41mpg and on average 400-420 miles a tank with a 38mpg long term average. My commute is now 3 miles at 40mph and a lot of short distances running kids about. I'm now getting 280-320 a tank and long term average has dropped to 31mpg. Having recently been on a long run (and back), 90 mins at 70mph I saw 42mpg and 39mpg. With 200 miles down I'm showing 250 left in range which would put me back to my old 400 odd miles a tank. From what you've posted I'd say it's about right. On a summer holiday last year winding across the a47 and a17 at 50mph, fully loaded after nearly 3 hrs I saw 49mpg.

Local Norfolk Skoda Expert
There is a waiting area but no seats now (I'm sure there weren't any when I went 4 weeks ago) following on from covid. I've never waited, just left mine for the day.

Clive does indeed have Odis, im fairly sure the sevicing hes done will come up on a skoda dealer print out. There is a car marked up as courtesy car, a little Dacia I think. I've not used it as I don't live far out the city so the bike gets put in the car and I cycle home.

Likewise just seen this. I fell out of love with Robinsons so now use Clive Attowe on Salhouse Road. Whilst I'd love my bills to be cheaper I can't fault their workmanship and honesty. I've been using them for 3 years now

LED Lights in Europe
I had to manually switch to right but once back I tried to switch manually and it kept saying function not available and remained on right side traffic. A few junctions up the M20 and it had auto switched to left hand traffic (2015 Xenon)

Real world mpg
2015 Vrs 220 DSG. Original 18 mile commute on steady B roads with national limits saw anywhere between 37-41mpg. I now do a 9 mile duel carriageway stint and I'm seeing 32-35mpg. Family trips fully loaded and a steady 70 see between 40-42mpg. Best ever is 44mpg

Android head unit + Canton
There is the Alpine option. However it's for Alpine's own unit (with apple/android carplay). About £1000 for the unit https://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-alpine-car-audio-i902d-oc3_p-40371.htm and extra £300 for the interface. https://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-alpine-car-audio-apf-h100dy_p-42267.htm I suspect its worth going down the oem route at that cost even if you have to purchase an MIB2 canton amp (if you have MIB1 to begin with)

Smartlink as standard on Octavia Scout December 2015?
Smartlink was only available with MIB2 units. Generally accepted that these were made from build dates mid 2015. (Week 22 / May 2015) If its a 15 plate it will be MIB1, 65 plate generally MIB2 but there will be some exceptions due to registration dates. To have it activated is usually dealer only and back in 2018 the figure of £125 was the norm. I'm sure I've seen companies other than dealers offering activation.

DSG or not to DSG?
I can only third the above. Wanted a manual but could not find one [VRS] with the spec I wanted, I did find a DSG so bought it, 4 years ago. Not looked back, it's been faultless. Wife was unsure at first but now she would love one. It's just finding something sensibly priced in these times. I wouldn't go back to manual now, a convert for sure.

Thermoreg & water pump
220 2015 vrs with 67K here. For 2 years I've been regularly topping the coolant up. It will always sit a few mm below the minimum never go lower and always ran spot on. Top it up and it might stay up for a fortnight or a month or longer but always come back to the same spot below the minimum. Last year upon service they could not see any staining, this year they could, with what's visible without removing anything. I've just paid £837 at a VAG specialist. I was quoted £720 odd last year after the service when I discussed loosing coolant. I was told that they can go on for a bit or suddenly just dump everything on the drive on start up, or when driving. I'd run with my luck for as long as I fancied. When they showed me the old pump I could see various points where it was leaking and had stained screw heads. Ultimately we're either both being done over or it's about right for Joe Blogg public without mates rates or a Sunday side job rate.

DVD player mount for vRS seats?
I wedge an 8" tablet between the two front seats, you can angle it slightly to one side if must but usually there's two watching. The other option is string. Tie a loop around the seat so it rest where the back of the seat gets wider. Then the tablet sits in a fold over case. Fold the case over the string. Naturally this is for a tablet, if its an actual dvd player it may not work

Do I need to service the air-conditioning to keep my warranty?
I've had warranty work completed on the car oyself and I've never had the aircon serviced/looked at in line with Skoda. When I rang up to say I had an aircon problem and need it looked at I said the car was under warranty. They came back at me and stated the car had never had any of its Skoda checks heavily indicating that any warranty work on the aircon would not be covered as I had not kept up with the skoda [aircon] servicing. Turned out to be user error so no issues.

Skoda octavia vrs iii
5Q4959592E 5Q4959593E One near side one offside door controller. As for the actual mirrors, no idea. Below is a monster thread but it does have details of the retro fit. From memory around page 30-40 I think for the mirrors. Could be completely wrong. I, not any other Briskodian, accept any responsibility for lack of funds upon reading the below thread.

Skoda octavia vrs iii
2x folding mirrors, some come with puddle lamps some don't. I think 9 wire is folding and puddle lamps 2x new door controllers, same code as what you have but they end in 592/593 (from memory). They are the highline spec. A scan of your car will tell you what controllers you have, 99% sure these will be 392/393. Then code them to car for key fob folding on lock/unlock. There is a guide by Sacha grace on here from her Ovtavia build thread

VRS front seat & child’s seat compatibility
Same car and sometime need to do this. 6yr old uses a graco junior (booster with back) seams to fit well enough. It's a spare seat, the isofix ones we use don't fit as the bases are to big. The Graci we have is about 8yrs old but from pics the design appears the same.
