  1. Lol, no problem Loving my Octy and very happy the tensioner has already been sorted. And the wiper. And the aircon. And the callipers..... Someone was one very careful owner indeed.
  2. Sadly their archive doesn't go back far enough, but thank you for the link.
  3. Hi all Quick one; could anybody supply an image of the appropriate owners' manual for a pre-facelift, Mk2 Octavia VRs? It's the only thing I'm missing from a very detailed service history and set of paperwork on a car recently purchased. Happy to pick up a used replacement off ebay, but there seem to be a few subtly different versions around so would like to know I'm getting one with the correct specs. Car was registered 2007. many thanks Rich
  4. Thanks all for the help and feedback. I never eliminated anything with a V6 after I started to look at tax and economy, test drove a 2.0TFSI Audi A4 that was unbelievably dull and then found about the most carefully maintained, low mileage VRs I could have hoped for. I've actually ended up buying a saloon without the leather interior, but was really impressed with its condition, care and the room it gave. It's been serviced more than annually and more than every 10k, has had every common flaw already rectified, timing tensioner included. Quite a find.
  5. Do you mind me asking what that kind of refit costs? Feel free to PM if youd rather not post figures here. Currently weighing up the TSI OctyVRS against Passat 3.2 V6. Very different engines, but finding Octavias with the leather seats optioned is looking difficult and expensive.
  6. Thanks PSM. Good to hear the leather seats wear well, though it looks like few were specced with it. Didn't realise it was only available on facelift models, that explains the prices. Good point on DPF. Would never reach burn cycle on my commute. Well worth keeping in mind. The Furby was old enough to dodge dpf issues completely thankfully.
  7. Hi all. Returning to the forum to get some advice as I line up my next car. A mk1 Fabia VRS has been my daily drive for 5 years now and it has been a fantastic car for my needs, but a change of job means I don't necessarily need a diesel any more for the economy (50 mile daily round trip used to give me an actual 55mpg, but work is now 5 mins away) and a new addition to the family has taught us very, very fast that a smallish hatchback simply doesn't offer enough space for a toddler and a newborn. I'm looking at mk2 Octy VRS estates now to get comparable/better performance compared to the Furby and all the space we need. Would appreciate any advice on what to look out for and what to avoid. In particular, any insight into TFSI Petrol vs PD diesel would be very useful - noticed the thread on critical problems with the TFSI, do these occur on the VRS? Lastly, if anyone knows of cars for sale, please give me a shout. Atm my wishlist includes full leather interior (5 years with that grey cloth has definitely taught me to avoid it ) and cruise control. Many Thanks.
  8. High praise indeed! Cheers for the information folks. Looks like I know who to go to if this is the road I take.
  9. A little late chipping in on this, but while it is a relaively current thread - has anyone on here had the opportuinity to drive/experience both Faboka's map and one from Shark? I'm interested to know if there are differnces in how the power is delivered and the responsiveness of the car afterwards. Have heard plenty about other maps that put the power out, but only in one big useless lump higher up the rev range, while Faboka and Shark both seem to shine on here in terms of the reviews they get. They're both clearly excellent maps and installed by great people who know what they are doing, so it would be good to know a little more aboutt he differences between them, regrdless of which map people personally prefer.
  10. Warm enough to drive with the windows right down. When I'm old enough (over 55) I must get a soft top.
  11. I now want to install a button connected to nothing but its integral LED and make it look really inconspicuous, just to baffle the next owner.
  12. Oh, with regard to beading. Another good clue of when you're getting obsessed is not only wishing for rain to see the results of your labours, but getting so impatient that you simulate it by holding your thumb over the hosepipe to mist the car in a fine, beautiful spray.
  13. Imagine Dragons. My students were all singing 'Radioactive' together earlier. It was pretty surreal. reminded me of the band and I figured after they knocked out a few decent singles they were worth a listen.
  14. Looks like AG is worth a go. Thanks again all. Really starting to get back into keeping the cars a bit tidier now the days or brightening so hopefully I can give this a go soon
  15. Yeah, standard dealership price now looks to be around £44
