How hard is it to remove power steering pump and fit a new as I'm considering scrapping my vrs less than two weeks after getting it cause off all the problems I'm having with it any help greatly appreciated

Got the same problem but wen my belt was changed I think my pressure pipe got damaged so I've replaced it but the noise is still there

Hi every one again I've replaced a burst power steering pressure pipe and I refilled the the tank and turned the steering left to right and I thought I had got all the air out so started the engine and repeated several times topping up wen necessary and the pump quitened down. Then went for a drive a drive and the whining came back so I checked the level and it is ok anybody got any ideas as to what I should do now thanks again

Quick update I've managed to get a pipe made by a local hydraulics company for £35 and have fitted it but haven't tested it yet as I can't find a diagram to put my auxiliary belt back on (the aa took it off for me when the pipe burst so I could get it home) any body have a picture or a link to one showing the route it goes on a 02 mk1 skoda Octavia 1.8t thanks for all the help so far and ile upload some pics off the old pipe where it burst and the shiny new one later thanks

Thank you Ray they will get a call in the morning to see if it's viable to have one made. I'm cautious of a second hand one as like terkin says they don't last lol! And cn tuning is that a new or used part and is it compatible with a mk1 octy 1.8t please

That's what I was fearing I just think that £150 + for what is a couple of metal banjos joined to some rubber (poor quality at that) is day light robbery lol

It's burst where the banjo joins the metal compression type fitting on the rubber hose I've got the old one off but would like to replace with a braided hose or something similar
