  1. struggling to find a 19" spare at reasonable price. Is there are any difference between a 2018 and 2019 cars as far as wheels? I cant see why but have seen some wheels listed as compatible for 2018 cars and not my 2019? Seems odd?
  2. you could try carpet tape - I have a mate who is a carpet fitter and he gave me a roll a while back. Its pretty much designed for this purpose, so as long as you thoroughly clean and de-grease where you want to apply it, then it should work I would have thought. I'm not sure how effective underlay will be at sound deadening but it will stop movement and rattles. The stick on panels add mass and stop vibrations and resonance while closed cell foam reduces transmission of noise effectively. Not sure underlay will really do either very well, but if you have it to hand then worth a try.
  3. yep- given a choice I would have ditched the 19s but no other option. I believe the tyre options are also a little limited but hopefully there will be a quieter option. Its a brand new car so we're talking a long way off yet. I'm tempted to get at the arches and floor though. I think I still have some deadening left over that I can use up. I haven't read all this thread yet but are there some posts about how to get at the right areas?
  4. makes sense - in my TF it just needed small pieces of deadening stuck in key places to remove 90% of the noise inthe boot and under the bonnet. I've only done 200 miles in my car so far and most of the noise is from the 19s anyway, but I think I could make a few small improvements.
  5. thanks - thats helpful. Has anyone found benefit from attaching this to the underside of the parcel shelf in the hatch? Wondering if that will reduce noise from that area?
  6. So can anyone offer a link to the type of foam they are using for filling these voids please? I did my TF with Silent Coat type product a while back and transformed it from a rattling tinny thing to a much better car with doors that 'thunk' instead of sounding like they were going to fall off! I'd like to use some foam as well on the S3.
  7. I had it for 4+ years on my S2 (as standard) and never used it once. Read it scraped alloys and that was enough to put me off, although I can park a Superb estate in the tightest of spaces with no issue as I have very good visual and spacial awareness luckily. We went for a family meal last winter and the only space in the pub car park was a little tight for the estate, up against some bollards and a fence. I dropped all the passengers off and calmly proceeded to park perfectly on the first go. I walked in the back of the pub through the conservatory overlooking my car and 3 guys stood up and clapped me. They had been sat at a table and watched, and had a wager when they realised I was going to try and park in that space - only 1 bet I'make it and got all the free drinks
  8. at the risk of further complicating this......what about a spare for a car with 19" wheels? My Sportline 4x4 190 only has the goop and I want to get a spare instead - looks like it will run a 16 but wonder if its a good choice? Reading about diff issues with different size wheels I'm also wondering how you do this with a 4x4? I guess putting it on the rear is still better given it probably wont be driven through those wheels most of the time in most conditions at a reasonable speed etc etc?
  9. That's what I can't seem to do though. It's weird as when it's locked on the drive I can sound the horn etc but I can't get it to connect via my phone for the Connect services.
  10. Thanks - I saw those, but aren't you supposed to be able to use your phone?
  11. I could really do with some help please.... Trying to get my new car to connect to Skoda Connect.I've set up my account and can get the car online and seeing everything ONLY if its on my drive and connected to the wifi in my house, but I simply cannot get it online any other way? Even when my Samsung S9 is connected by USB with all the permissions I can see enabled, it says the car is not connected to the internet? I thought it should either: 1. Have its own SIM and connect while in its first year or 2. Be able to use my phone to connect? I'm getting confused here so would appreciate some guidance - is there a phone setting I am somehow missing or a car setting somewhere to allow it online some other way? TIA
  12. Just arrived this evening - dealer left it totally untouched so just had time for a quick wash tonight and beginning to get it clean and sorted. Big detail planned for next week and I'll also apply a coating to every surface inside and out. 190 DSG Sportline Plus 4x4
  13. Sorry to see that - glad you're OK and walked away. Speedy recovery. Good to see the car did what it was supposed to do.
  14. Sorry for another numpty question, but will the 16" steel wheels I currently have with 205/55's take the larger 215/60 needed for my new car? I'm assuming that works if its only 10mm but I'm not up on wheel and tyre specs. Thanks
  15. End of last week - it was sitting there in stock. I'm told they stopped making the current S3 months ago and the only new cars available are those that were already in stock. I was told anything ordered in recent times or now would be delivered from Oct onwatds. HTH
