  1. Thanks for all the replies I will investigate further :-)
  2. Just noticed that my Superb Mk3 SEL Executive can't open or shut the door windows from the key fob like my previous Mk1 & 2 Superbs could do. Is this something that can be switched on via software? Thanks.
  3. I recently noticed a damp musty smell in my superb and found that water was getting in to the boot. Took the spare wheel out which we half submerged in water. Dried this area and the mat/cover but water still coming in at rear of boot on left hand side, maybe from rear light cluster area? Have to check further tomorrow. My superb is an SE hatch model not an estate. Any other thoughts would be appreciated.
  4. Hi, are you saying that we are best to use the hatch option rather than the boot lid option to prolong cable failure? Thanks Pete
  5. Hi all, Passed my old 2005 Superb 1.9 Elegance on to my son at Christmas and some low-life has hit it on the front valance and wing whilst parked overnight on the street in Derby. By the look of the white paint left on his car it could well have been white van man! Anyway, needless to say no message of apology along with name and insurance details were left on the screen so my 22 year old son has to pick up the tab! Any recommendations for a reasonably priced repair shop in Derby area would be most welcome. Thanks Pete
  6. Recently bought a Superb II SE after 8 years of ownership of a Superb 1.9 Elegance and find the new seat base width a bit tight, may try a cushion! lol
  7. Interesting read. I have just changed from a 1.9 ltr 130bhp Mk1 Superb Elegance to a Mk2 140bhp 2.0ltr SE and mainly miss the xenon's and the slightly wider seats I felt that I did not want to downsize to a 1.6 and the economy of the manual 2.0 ltr and £30 RFL seemed to tick all my boxes. Would have loved the estate but lots more £'s, still the twin door goes some way towards this
  8. I believe it stands for VAG-COM Diagnostic Software, others will correct me if this is not the case
  9. Thanks Dan, My mate had told me that his son had insured his Golf GTI at a very reasonable price so I told my son to get a quote from AF. He was dubious that it would be any cheaper but a £1200 saving is superb, excuse the overused pun I will advise my other son to get a quote from you when his insurance is due, may even do so myself lol :coffee: Happy New Year, and pass on my thanks to your company!
  10. On all your recommendations I've just placed an order too! :coffee: Anyone got caught with import duties?
  11. No probs Shanco. I'll bear the maxidot optimism in mind, thanks for the heads-up Superb170. No doubt the Superb I maxidot reading was optimistic too? As a side note, my son, 22, has found Adrian Flux to be reasonable for his comprehensive insurance of the 1.9 Elegance, saving £1200 from his Elephant insurers! Safe motoring to all in 2015 :coffee:
  12. Thanks for the reply Shanco. No, the Superb is a 2.0 Litre SE, fuel consumption seems a bit better than the 1.9, early days yet, but if the display is accurate, it easily beats the old Superb. No doubt the 6th gear helps in this matter
  13. Hi all, just changed my 2005 1.9 130 bhp Elegance for a 2014 2.0 SE Superb I had owned the Elegance since 2006 and bought it with 6000 miles on the clock. The car has been great, although a few electrical gremlins had started to surface in the last year or so. The car stays in the family as I have given it to my son who's old Clio is now taking up space on the drive! The new Superb has 13,500 miles on the clock and is in a 'Petrol Blue' colour which I think looks good. There are a few things I miss from the old Superb, such as the Xenon lights; locking rear seat backs and the lock to disable the boot opening from inside the car; the flip down bag holders in the boot; heated seats to a lesser degree. Things I don't miss are the electrically operated seat controls, real waste of time in my opinion. Nice having the option of accessing the boot by a boot lid or a hatch - anybody have problems with this over time or is the design proving to be robust & well engineered? RFL of £30 is great, early indications of fuel economy also looking promising. Seats are a bit narrower and don't quite feel as comfy, time will tell on this no doubt. Have to see if the DPF becomes an issue with the journeys I make and my driving style. Hope I am as pleased with the Superb II as I was with my Superb I Happy New Year to you all for Thursday
  14. Hi, where is Ross based - I think I could do with him working his magic on my Superb? I am in the Milton Keynes area. Thanks Pete
  15. Hi I'm going to be doing an oil & filter change on my 1.9 TDI 130bhp engine any tips or pics/drgs of how to remove under engine plastic protection panels/tray to access the sump plug? Thanks Pete :S
  16. I experience the juddering when pulling away in first from time to time, sometimes worse when you are trying to get away quick on a roundabout, (trouble is in Milton Keynes theres millions of them :-) ). I too, mentioned this to the dealers at its first service and got the reply that they could find nothing wrong. No mention that this is a common issue - I thought it must be me & my clutch control although I have been driving for years without problems before! I just hope that the DMF and clutch last until after I change the car. What are the Octavias and new Superbs like in this respect? Pete
  17. Thanks for the response - most informative, reading other posts on the forum reveal that they are suspect to water ingress. On Sunday I drove thro some very large puddles covering upto half the road - on reversing into my parking spot I then noticed they had failed! However, this evening they started to work again - must have dried out Hope they stay behaving themselves Pete
  18. Veba website WWW.VEBA.UK.COM - Products: Reversing Sensors
  19. This company's web page state at the btm of page that most oem use Veba equipment, see link Compare Reverse Parking Sensors The Veba AVRS1A kit is £44.99 incl 4 sensors, see link below: - AVRS1A Parking Sensors .co.uk - AVRS1A Parking Distance Sensors to Aid Reversing and Parallel Parking Question is what are the chances that these sensors will fit as a replacement ? Or what are the chances that Veba can supply direct if they are the oem?
  20. Hi All, My rear parking sensors packed up the other day, now get a long audible tone on selecting reverse and no tone to distance sound whilst reversing :( Is this likely to be 1 or more sensors packing up, (if so how can you test them and how much are they to replace) or is it going to be the control unit, (again are there tests I can carry out to check this - any ideas on replacement costs)? Is this something that can be sorted by diy's or is it a dealer only job? Any info on this topic would be gratefully received Thanks Pete
  21. Thanks for the replies & information guys - much appreciated Pete
  22. DieselV6 - you mentioned in an earlier post about using Dot 5.1 brake fluid. Is this able to be introduced to the system by draing off existing & keep adding new until all fluid is changed or does the system requires a complete strip down and clean prior to filling with dot 5.1 fluid? Is dot 5.1 a synthetic fluid that does not absorb moisture? I did have my brake fluid changed at the first, 2 yr, service a year last June. I thought this 2 yr periodicity was due to the fluid being hydrascopic but have read recently that it is required as the fluid contains anti-corroosive additives that loose their protective properties. Pete
  23. Thanks for the info most informative Pete :-)
  24. While we are on braking issues - what sort of mileage should you expect from a superb with regard to front & rear pads & discs? Thanks Pete
  25. Thanks for the replies guys. DieselV6 - do they really need a change of brake fluid of a higher spec ? Do they get much hotter than the OEM parts & does this extra heat cause problems with the discs like warping? Lastly, do your wheels stay any cleaner as is the claim? Lummox, what experiences have you had/witnessed that have given you your negative opinion? Cheers Pete:D
