  1. Great to see an actual brochure, thanks for that.

    Not the Aussie spec model that I might be interested in but at least a RHD version so that's a start.

    What I have trouble with is a 28 page document and not one mention of engine size/specs, drivetrain configurations, gearing, brake size, type etc.

    Does no one care about this stuff anymore ?

    Sure, it's got wireless charging for my mobile phone but is that the most important thing I want from a CAR.

    Answer = NO

    .

  2. I'm with you skudshaun, I think they will fit fine too.

    Though the diameter will be more scout like than VRS but a bigger diameter looks better IMHO. But yes, you will be traveling slightly faster than indicated but it's still probably closer to the real speed than the factory calibration.

    The oem specs for tire size on these cars is way too conservative as far as I'm concerned.

  3. No you are not right.

    The extra width will be half inside/half outside +/- the difference in offset which is only a mm.

    In your example the extra mm is to the inside (greater offset means more inboard).

    But aren't standard wheels ET51 (still only another mm or two) or are you taking into account spacers?

  4. I think it's most likely that the roof rails/roof bar restraint systems is the weakest link. Think about how they are actually attached. They would likely be at their safe working limit at around 75kg if then subjected to emergency braking or other forces present in an accident.

    I would hope the roof could actually support the weight of the car, if you ever happen to find yourself inverted.

  5. ...Australian Scout range also offers base Manual 103tdi, and "premium" DSG 110tdi..

    No, that's not correct.

    The Australian Scout III range offers three variants;

    Octavia Scout 4x4 110TDI Manual Only

    Octavia Scout 4x4 Premium 132TSI DSG

    Octavia Scout 4x4 Premium 135TDI DSG

    The 103TDI Manual and Premium 110TDI DSG were the previous Scout II offerings.

    So yes, there are RHD Petrol Scout IIIs made.

  6. Your car looks great x77r.

    I'm looking forward to your next instalment, and also your wheel mods.

    I made a move towards getting my Scout today, I went to the dealers at lunchtime and had a sit in one and a chat to the salesmen. Baby steps. They have only just been released in Australia (March 2015) and only now starting to show up at dealers.

  7. I think you guys arguing speed/weight/power/torque are giving wayyyy too much credibility to the accuracy of the stats in the brochures. Real world is likely to be very different.

    I very much doubt the engine specs are different between models fitted with the same engines.

    Obviously AWD will add weight, but with the benefit of better initial traction.

    And does it really matter anyway. Who takes a Skoda to a drag strip?
