  1. The only black box insurance company worth using is Tesco Bank Box. Its my first car and im 18 so it was the only way to get insurance. I also paid £1300 for a 1.2 Fabia Anyway regarding the insurance company they dont fine you at all! Or cancel your policy Even if you drive late at night or speeding! Or anything. All they do is give you less bonus miles per month. The better you drive the more you get. The only restriction for me is that i cant do more then 10k miles a year. Which for me is fine as i probally wont do more then 8k LOL If you do get near to finishing your miles you can always buy bonus miles. Probally the best black box insurance company out there.
  2. Have you got any idea if how much a VCDS scan costs?? And can most mechanics do it? Cheers
  3. Checked the pump from the bottom of the car. All the wiring seems to be fine. Cant see anything detached.. Im assuming its most likely the pump. Would it be wise to spend the extra and get a brand new pump or will a second hand one be sufficient? Thanks
  4. yeah its a fiddly job by the looks of it. Shouldnt be to bad thou. Not had a chance yet. BLOODY RAIN LOL
  5. I replied in the post above that LOL. I said "As soon as i start the car the steering is stiff. Headlights dont fliker. Everything else is fine just the steering." Yeah I know I need to get that done. Im going to have a look at the wiring near the sensor first and check if thats all ok before i do anything else.
  6. Ouch thats going to be a bit tricky LOL. I will try jack the car up and see if i can see it from underneath.
  7. Hopefully its something on that end.. On this car it dosent go away no matter how long the car has been on for. Where abouts is the pump? Is there any way i can check if its not getting enough power??? Thank You
  8. Checked the fuse links on top of the battery. They seem to be fine. Fuses all ok. Is the pump the only thing it can be? Thanks
  9. I will check the fuse links on top of the battery. As soon as i start the car the steering is stiff. Headlights dont fliker. Everything else is fine just the steering. Can be a real pain to do 3 point turns! LOL
  10. I dont think it is to be honest. Yes fluid level is fine that's the first thing i checked! Nothing on the dash. Is there any electrical cables that could be disconnected? As its electrical power steering i was hoping it could be something to do with just a disconnected wire somewhere..
  11. My dads Skoda Fabia which is a 1.9 TDI has a problem with the power steering. Basically its really stiff and you kind of have to fight it when your manoeuvring. Its electrical power steering so I wasn't sure what it could be. I'm worried it could be the pump itself which costs a lot of money!! Is there any thing I can check before I jump to the conclusion that the pump is the problem. I don't want to buy a pump only to find out it wasn't that LOL Has anyone had this problem before? Please tell me how you resolved it Any help would be appreciated. Thank You
  12. Thankfully its all fixed now! Took it back to him and he put a washer on to it. So far it has worked fine! Thanks for all your help really appreciate it.
  13. Yeah that looks like it. Check Eurocarparts aswell you should find it on there.
  14. Ive gone threw the gears and its fine. Only came on while driving home. Im not sure if its a genuine part to be honest. Im going to have to take it back to him and get it sorted. Cant believe the hassle over a reverse light!!
  15. Yep that was in North Wales. Dolgellau. Picture taken in front of the Cader Idris
  16. Yes you were right it was AWY on the car itself. Anyway quick update. I ordered the part on eBay and fitted it. Still no luck. So took it to a local auto electrician and he told me it was the sensor itself and quoted me £25 including fitting. So I had that done and they started working again. Thats the good news. The bad news is I was driving back from Alton Towers yesterday and my dad seen that the reverse light keeps coming on when im driving normally. Dont know why. It comes on for a few seconds then goes off again. Came on a few times on the way home. Looks like i will have to take it back to him. Could it be a dodgy sensor? Any help will be appreciated! Thankyou
  17. Ok brilliant will get that ordered asap. Are you sure? because the first page on my service book there's a sticker and it says AQW. I first thought it could have been a different cars service book but no it has my Registration on the second page. I think there's another copy of that sticker next to the spare tyre so will have a look tomorrow. My car came with full service history so do you reckon some one who owned it before has made a fake service book?
  18. Thanks for your help! Really appreciate it. I took the plug off the switch and the product code matches exactly (1J0973702) so I assume its the correct part. My engine code is AQW but the product code is the same so it should fit right? Yeah mate the wires come off the plug itself. Thanks
  19. Thanks for your reply. Ive had a look but cant seem to find the part you mentioned. Could you tell me where you can get it from? Thank you!
  20. 1.9 TDI defiantly ! Its more of a tank then an engine! Just keeps going!
  21. Hi, Basically I noticed my reverse lights were not working so I checked the bulbs and they were fine. So I checked the fuses and they were fine. I then read about the sensor underneath the gearbox. I removed the under tray and had a look. Basically the wires have detached from the sensor itself. I took the sensor out and I couldn't figure out how to reattach the wires. Do I need a new sensor or is there another way? Please any help would be appreciated Thank You
  22. I just joined this forum after buying a Skoda Fabia 1.2 MK 1 as a first car. My parents own a 1.9 TDI Diesel Fabia so we really love our Skodas But yeah just wanted to say Hi as ive just joined Thanks
