  1. In its current state, would you realistically get the £5000 if traded in? If you could get another engine, in good condition, fitted, what would be the trade in value then? What you then have to factor in, is, would you get a car that suits you as much as this one has done, or would you be sacrificing some things such as age, trim, ICE, engine, different model, or even make, etc to meet the budget you have for a replacement? It's your choice. If getting another engine fitted brings the car back to a condition that you'd consider keeping it for another few years, or, you can commit to the cost of replacing it, either on a like for like (ie, 66 plate) car, or something a bit newer with a few extra bells & whistles. It's your finances & you are the only one who knows which makes the better financial sense. Perhaps a discussion with your garage to see if they can offer a fixed price, maybe with also obtaining an engine in that, plus a warranty on the work, will help you to make up your mind one way or another. Good Luck whichever way you decide.
  2. 3 Border Collies in a hatch weren't a problem. Naturally, their curiosity does leave it's reminders, snurge marks on the window, but that's easily cleaned off. Remember though that law now requires dogs to be restrained when in a car, so look out for a dog guard. They're easy to fit, just behind the rear seats, secured on the u-clamps for the seat backs, the seat presses it back. Makes it easy to remove if necessary. The parcel shelf can either be put on the back seat, or stored away in your garage long term.
  3. Unfortunately for you, a recommendation to change the cambelt at 5 years or 145,000 miles is not a guarantee that it will last that long. I agree that it is reasonable to expect that it will, & many people will have exceeded those figures, but as in your case, there are also cases where, for whatever reason, a failure occurs before reaching those recommendations.
  4. One of their technicians, J***, could do with some training on customer interaction. I don't know if he is basically rude to all customers, or just women. Over the past year my wife has been in a couple of times with a problem on her car & his reaction is to virtually accuse her of doing something to cause the problem. Whether she has or hasn't been responsible (& she wasn't), that is no way for a customer to be treated.
  5. This is what I get when checking version information.
  6. Ditto for me, but if you look at the line above it says ECE AS 2022
  7. Interesting link, Berisford, & probably the same dealer. As I said in the opening post, the Intermittent was disabled by the service department when the car first went in for investigation, not in the infotainment system, but I assume with VCDS. It certainly didn't have Automatic/Intermittent wipers when my wife wanted them the other day.
  8. Has anyone else had a problem with their windscreen wipers wiping intermittently even when they are switched off? My wife's Karoq has been doing this for a month now. At first it was happening after turning right, but more recently it has happened at random times. Even after isolation of the intermittent by the dealer it has still happened at random times. After 2 visits to to the dealer, the first for only an hour 2 weeks ago so they could put her car on the diagnostics computer, nothing found, but intermittent operation isolated at that time, & another today where they have had the car all day & supposedly 20 miles of driving & it did not obligingly spring into life when least expected, the dealer says they can't do anything, & they wouldn't escalate it to Skoda UK, my wife has called Skoda UK & they've opened a case, with a case number & will be contacting the dealer. The person she spoke to at Skoda UK said it sounded as if there could be a wiring loom problem. When this had earlier been suggested to the person she dealt with at the local dealer, he said there is miles of wiring to check & without seeing it happen they wouldn't know where to start checking. Hopefully something will come of this. Interested to hear if anyone else has had this problem, & also if it has been resolved.

Maybe then something the wheels may start turning to try & isolate your problem. If enough people complain then it cannot be ignored.
  10. The same started happening on my wife's Karoq last week. At first it was only after turning a corner but has now started doing it at any time. Car is into the dealer tomorrow so that they can put it on the diagnostics machine. Personally I have my doubts on them getting an answer that way & suspect it will need an inspection of the wiring in the steering column.
  11. A little puzzled as to how you'll insert the plugs, surely the tyre would need removing from the hub to insert the plug, trying to insert from outside, surely it would just be pushed out when trying to inflate again?
