  1. Unfortunately for you, a recommendation to change the cambelt at 5 years or 145,000 miles is not a guarantee that it will last that long. I agree that it is reasonable to expect that it will, & many people will have exceeded those figures, but as in your case, there are also cases where, for whatever reason, a failure occurs before reaching those recommendations.
  2. One of their technicians, J***, could do with some training on customer interaction. I don't know if he is basically rude to all customers, or just women. Over the past year my wife has been in a couple of times with a problem on her car & his reaction is to virtually accuse her of doing something to cause the problem. Whether she has or hasn't been responsible (& she wasn't), that is no way for a customer to be treated.
  3. This is what I get when checking version information.
  4. Ditto for me, but if you look at the line above it says ECE AS 2022
  5. Interesting link, Berisford, & probably the same dealer. As I said in the opening post, the Intermittent was disabled by the service department when the car first went in for investigation, not in the infotainment system, but I assume with VCDS. It certainly didn't have Automatic/Intermittent wipers when my wife wanted them the other day.
  6. Has anyone else had a problem with their windscreen wipers wiping intermittently even when they are switched off? My wife's Karoq has been doing this for a month now. At first it was happening after turning right, but more recently it has happened at random times. Even after isolation of the intermittent by the dealer it has still happened at random times. After 2 visits to to the dealer, the first for only an hour 2 weeks ago so they could put her car on the diagnostics computer, nothing found, but intermittent operation isolated at that time, & another today where they have had the car all day & supposedly 20 miles of driving & it did not obligingly spring into life when least expected, the dealer says they can't do anything, & they wouldn't escalate it to Skoda UK, my wife has called Skoda UK & they've opened a case, with a case number & will be contacting the dealer. The person she spoke to at Skoda UK said it sounded as if there could be a wiring loom problem. When this had earlier been suggested to the person she dealt with at the local dealer, he said there is miles of wiring to check & without seeing it happen they wouldn't know where to start checking. Hopefully something will come of this. Interested to hear if anyone else has had this problem, & also if it has been resolved.
  7. My wife's car has still been getting intermittent wipes since the first visit to the dealer. After 2 visits to them, the first for only an hour so they could put her car on the diagnostics computer, nothing found, but intermittent isolated at that time, & another today where they have had the car all day & supposedly 20 miles of driving, the dealer says they can't do anything, & they wouldn't escalate it to Skoda UK, my wife has called Skoda UK & they've opened a case, with a case number & will be contacting the dealer. Hopefully something will come of this. Blorin, maybe you should escalate to whoever is the main Skoda power in Romania? Maybe then something the wheels may start turning to try & isolate your problem. If enough people complain then it cannot be ignored.
  8. The same started happening on my wife's Karoq last week. At first it was only after turning a corner but has now started doing it at any time. Car is into the dealer tomorrow so that they can put it on the diagnostics machine. Personally I have my doubts on them getting an answer that way & suspect it will need an inspection of the wiring in the steering column.
  9. A little puzzled as to how you'll insert the plugs, surely the tyre would need removing from the hub to insert the plug, trying to insert from outside, surely it would just be pushed out when trying to inflate again?
  10. We received an email 23rd August; "It’s still showing in the factory, Skoda have announced there will be some temporary delays in some of the TSI models, Yours is already built though, but is being held at factory for technical data/certificate of conformity." When taking delivery we were assured that the first gear issue had been sorted out & shouldn't be a problem. By that I would assume that all software updates/modifications would have been applied prior to the vehicle leaving the factory.
  11. I've seen a lot of messages in this topic of earlier Karoqs having problems with the engine losing power when pulling away, but has anyone with the latest models had the problem? The reason I ask is that my wife's Karoq, built week 12th August 2019 has had this problem 4 times since she got it at the beginning of October 2019, the most recent being just after the commencement of lockdown. The previous 3 occasions were reported to our dealer & they looked at the car, gave it a test drive, & didn't find a problem. I insisted the dealer logged the reported problem with Skoda so that in the event of others reporting the same fault, at least then there would be a record, & hopefully a fix eventually.
  12. Whenever I've had my car serviced & they suggest my AC needs re-gassing as it loses gas, my response usually goes along the lines of, "Do you get someone in to re-gas your home refrigerator & freezer every couple of years or so because they lose gas?". That is usually enough to stop them pushing that extra service expense. If they persist I point out that amongst other things, I work with refrigeration systems & they are spouting a load of bull5h*t.
  13. Just done the update & noticed a potential problem in the actual maps. Currently the Lincoln Eastern By-pass is under construction, the projected date for the completion & opening is currently May 2020. However, going by the updated maps it would appear that the by-pass is completed & I would assume that means it is incorporated into any route planning.
  14. Had a call a couple of days ago from foreign sounding female asking if I was me, or rather, she asked for someone who was an anagram of my name. When I said there was no-one of that name here & she must have the wrong number, she just carried on, claimed to be from the "Telephone Preferencing Management Service", & was I still getting nuisance spam phone calls, etc. Obviously a nuisance caller, but I let her go through her spiel for a minute or so, then told her I am registered with the TPS, so, Good Bye. This seems to be a new tactic, instead of claiming to be a research call, now claiming to be from something that sounds similar to the TPS in the hope that people won't pick up on the difference in name.
