  1. Wile, yep, forgot the handling is god awful on the Volvo too - love the burble tho! I take your point about the estate, but with SWMBO getting a bigger SUV this year, I can porobably get away with something smaller - the CC is nosing ahead, me thinks..

M00k - gorgeous VXR! Always wanted one of those... hmmm, another for the list!

Chunk, I know, spoils an otherwise lovely package.]

  2. Yep, they are coming up not much more than a Superb V6, Sam, and they are a gorgeous shape!

How're you finding the seat comfort in the Passat? I know the seats in the CC are a bit different, but probably a decent marker...

Saw a W8 estate on Trader, if you want a bit of retro fun for your missus - getting a bit long in the tooth now though (the car, not your missus!!)

Really looking forward to the test drives! For pure seat comfort alone I'd pick the Volvo as I've enjoyed driving it in the past. However, although that engine sounds absolutely gorgeous, 1) the gearbox is god awful and 2) as its originally a boat engine, it does tend to overheat if you give it the full beans for too long  ;)

Also spotted a manual (my slight preference) S60R also with 300bhp - pity its in bright red!

  3. Its completely out of the ordinary for me to start day dreaming about by next car before I've sold the two on my driveway... NOT!!

So, having loved the space, versatility and of the Twindoor 4x4 that I've currently got for sale, my natural instinct was to start dreaming of a 3.6 Twindoor - especially as there's a well priced one on Trader (see other thread).

However, the one thing niggling at me (other than needing to shift two motors first!) is the fact that the Skoda's driver's seat is incredibly uncomfortable! I'd properly buggered my back having done a few long drives in it - probably just me as I'm not the sveltest of blokes, but I've tried every adjustment and still get shooting pains up my legs!

I've seen another thread on curing that issue by bending a bar in the seat - eek!-  but I also got to thinking that the rear 3/4 of the Skoda isn't the best shape either...

So, my mind starts drifting to a Passat CC 3.6... Same engine, slightly faster due to more power (300bhp vs 260bhp) and a nice shape - since I've owned the Legacy, I'm a sucker for frameless windows.

Also, the whole seat comfort thing made me think back fondly to a Volvo S80 4.4V8 I had a couple of years ago - interestingly, there's one with my perfect spec for sale just up the road from me.

Obviously, I will go and test drive all of these, plus probably an A8 W12 as well just cost its mad enough to work! However, I'm not doing that until at least one of the cars has shifted!

Anyone had experience of 2 or even three of these that are currently on my shortlist? Any views?

Also had a funny five minutes when I also considered a Merc R500 V8 - equally mad engine but with the luxury and space to go with it.

    Thanks

  4. Welcome!

Join up to become a Freedom member and advertise in the for sale section of this site - cheaper than eBay and AutoTrader and you're selling to enthusiasts.

Also, stick it on motors.co.uk as they are free to list for private sales so you're not losing anything other than a couple of minutes of time writing the ad.

  5. No probs. Avons all round - around 4mm average tread left across all 4 tyres.

Next service would be due in July - I've only done around 4k since the last one last July.

    MOT is until November.

Never had the timing chain done, never had any grumbles from it. Did check the forums a while back (when the car was ticking over to the 90k that the scooby belts tend to need replacing) and the general consensus was that, unless it starts grumbling, its good for at least 200k, if not upto 300k. No grumbling hence no changing... The only lady in my life who doesn't grumble!

  6. If you're not completely wedded to an estate, I have a 2012/12 black 2.0tdi Elegance 4x4 Twindoor for sale - search on the for sale section under me for full details - currently at 29.5k miles and just had MOT done with no issues. Tyres are 5-6mm all round and even wear.

Pm me if you want to find out more - if you travel to Bristol from Herts you probably pass not too far away from me in Woking as I'm only about 15-20 mins away from Bracknell (J10 M4)...

  7. For what its worth, and OP said quite rightly that price is subjective, the price looks about right on this one. The AT ad put up above is from a dealer which always means a premium. So dealer car without DSG and with more miles is around £500 more than OP wants for private sale with DSG and less miles - therefore about right! Also OP's car has a new engine which is still under warranty...

  8. Thanks for the comment Stug, I really love them! I'll be honest, the R Spec B is not the car if you are after a cosseting ride and waft-ability - my Superb is infinitely better at that! However, with the Bilstein suspension and very low centre of gravity, the Legacy corners like no other car I have owned or driven! She will be sorely missed...

  9. So, having spent a couple of months umming and ahing over whether to keep my Subaru (which I've had since new) or the new Superb, the Superb has won! So the Subaru needs to go... :'(  :'(

I've had Leila (see naming thread on Superb II!) since new, firstly as a Lex lease car and I then bought her at the end of the lease. The log book therefore shows 2 owners, but both of them are me.

She's done 101k miles in the last 9.5 years (first registered Nov 2005 so she qualifies for the cheaper road tax).

Very sad to see her go - I've almost sold her a few times in the last 3-4 years due to kids and commute, but she's always earned a stay of execution. However, the time is finally nigh...

A full set of photos can be found here: http://www.photobox....lbum/2850235977

She's got a fully stamped up service history - until 2011 with main dealer Bell & Colvill and since then with a local garage for day to day and Surrey Subaru Specialists for things like welding the y-section of the exhaust which was done in 2014.

Recently (last 6-9 months) I've also replaced 2 wheel bearings, had the throttle body cleaned to cure a lumpy idle and the weak y-section of theexhaust has been re-welded as above. She had her clutch changed by Bell & Colvill in 2012 at 75k miles.

She was last serviced in July 2014 at 96k miles.

Her full service history is as follows:

    28/11/05 - 1,020 miles - Bell & Colvill West Horsley

    02/06/06 - 9,792 miles - Bell & Colvill

    30/05/07 - 20,303 miles - Bell & Colvill

    18/01/08 - 29,553 miles - Bell & Colvill

    09/10/08 - 40,698 miles - Bell & Colvill

    20/06/09 - 50,000 miles - Bell & Colvill

    12/07/10 - 60,600 miles - Bell & Colvill

    15/09/11 - 69,333 miles - Bell & Colvill

    29/11/12 - 78,878 miles - Bentleys Garage (local)

    23/11/13 - 89,360 miles - Bentleys Garage

    31/07/14 - 95,866 miles - Bentleys Garage

The only bad bits on the car are that all 4 wheels could do with a refurb - bubbling and kerbing - and there is a swirly on the drivers door (pictured) which will probably MOP out. Also some stone chips on the bonnet commensurate with age and being driven!

Recently, an idiot backed into her at the station car park which caused some scuffing to the front bumper. The bumper has been replaced by his insurance and now looks extra shiny!

The history of this car speaks for itself - I have known and loved it for every minute of the last 9.5 years. However, with the kids getting older, I need something a bit bigger hence the (as yet un-named) Superb Twindoor has joined the Zeddicus family.

The car is completely unmodified other than having (legal) blacked out windows at the back - looks very menacing, but was actually done to avoid the sun going in little one's eyes!

Wisebuyers value the car, in 'Private Good' condition at £3.6k and CAP have an average Private Sale price of £2.8k.

So, I'll be putting the car on the usual websites for £3,295 in a couple of weeks time (once I have transferred off my private plate) but am happy to give Briskoda members first bite of the cherry...

Pm me or call me on 07748 961755. The car is located in Woking, Surrey if you'd like to have a look, although I will need to see fully comp insurance on the car for a test drive.

  10. I have had Priscilla the Purple Probe, Saskia the Saab, Leila the Legacy, Molly the Mazda, Jerry the Jaguar and I am currently waiting for a name to settle on the Superb!

My wife has also had Percy the Puma, although her current car (a Mazda CX-7) is still called 'The Mazda' even after 3 years...

  11. Hi Too Tall, thanks for the advice. Looking at previous threads, I thought it wasn't a bad price for integrated front PDCs, but Superbpete made me doubt myself! The key thing I am happy paying more for is the integration to the columbus so it looks factory fitted, also the finish on the front bumper - VAG-tec say they drill from the rear of the bumper not the front to get an OEM finish.

I'll check out those camera options too, although will need to get someone to fit - the car, knowing me, will actively drive away by itself if it sees me coming at it with any sort of tool! Given the decent camera kits cost around £150 or so and we're looking at a few hours labour, the £499 for the fitted camera doesn't seem like too bad a price?

    Thanks again

  12. Hi Paul,

Not going to be for me right now, unfortunately. My insurance won't touch me with a power boosting mod, and as I have claimed already in this policy year, I'd essentially have to forgo the remaining 8 months insurance I have left (with no refund) and take out an all new policy immediately, which isn't worth it.

So I won't be looking at performance mods until the back end of this year when the insurance is up for renewal.

GLWTS anyway, and sorry we couldn't do business - its a cracking price for box thats only a few months old...
