  1. When I unplugged my MAF....The car ran like dog ****....was like i unplugged the turbo. No spool or nothing just a nice trundle along. But what does it meaaannnnnn
  2. Haha yea tried that....they failed miserably! LOL! As soon as the pressure built up they may aswell been chocolate laces. Yea have read about the self tappers, my top inter-cooler hose seems to have been done by previous owner. Take it you just self tap into the plastic where the metal clip sits?
  3. Right boys and girls.... Just had wheel off and arch liner to check intercooler and pipes for boost leaks. Bottom intercooler hose is cakes in black gunk. But dosnt move when revved. The top Pupe however attached to egr. Blows off the seal when revved. Is this a cause of a boost leak? Guessing the oil and soot ect is dropping down onto the lower intercooler pipe area? Tried zip tying it. But pressure too much to hold it, it still pops put breaking the seal. Plus would probably melt them anyways. Iv attached a pic for reference. Guessing this needs replaced?! Thanks fellow Briskodians! LeezoG
  4. Just done headlights today, pretty simple and straightforward. Need to remove front battery cover to get at n/s one. Be carefull I broke about 3 clips on the battery cover had to cable tie it down after. Hope this helps:) That's on a 05 Fabia Vrs, just read your post properly and you ay rubber caps. Mine are not rubber lol
  5. Update for everyone. Changed brake light switch. Literally plug and play and took me about half hour. Brake light snow work perfectly. Also the power loss issue has gone too. Assuming the duff switch was putting the the car into limp mode. Thanks for all the replies! Till next time!
  6. Im sure it does. But that's 10mins Im gonna get wet lol Need to wait for a dry day as got a few bits to do .
  7. Got the brakw switch just waiting for the time to fit it. Shall update if sorts Thanks for replies
  8. Afternoon all. Just a quick one. So I thought I may of had a boost leak with the "common" boost hose issues. I went and had a look from the top of the engine bay and come across these screw in the top of the pipe going to Inter-cooler. This was done by a previous owner I assume. Attached a couple of pics what do people think looks like the self tapping fix? Also a bit of oily residue as can been seen in pic.....indicates there is still a boost leak? Any info or guidance would be ideal. Im no the most mechanically minded just going from the mountain Iv threads iv read through since owning the motor! Cheers Boys & Girls LeezoG
  9. To add to an old thread, Had this same issue this morning with my car. same light issue and power problem in 1st and 2nd, Found yanking my pedal right up would work to get lights off to stop the batt draining. Had spoken to a few mechanics in work, They feel a faulty BLS could cause power loss issues as iot would be confusing the ECU into thinking the brake are on. I have purchased a new BLS. Did the OP get this sorted with a new Brake Light Switch? Get back to me LD1991VRSLet me know what sorted it for you bro!
  10. Cheers for the reply Rich, Yea does feel like limp mode when it loses the power, But no lights or anything come on the dash? Not sure if they supposed to when it happens tho. But yea I got a new brake light switch on order, Hopefully its the switch causing the power loss. Once engine warms up it seems to be less. Tho don't stop it completely :(. EGR was coming off do a c lean this weekend anyways so might aswell give the MAF a going over too
  11. Morning all, So yesterday I got in my car and drove home from work took a quick stop to fill her up and noticed my brake lights were staying on even with ignition off, and me out of the car...If i pull the brake pedal up it goes off but when let go the lights come back on. I can pull the brake pedal all the way up past a "CLICK" and the lights go out and work as normal....But the brake pedal is set about 6 inches higher than it should be. What we thinking..Brake light switch?? Also, Since the weather has got colder I find when cold the Car when in 1st or 2nd will sometimes lose all power. and trundle along on its own with no response from accelerator. If i release accelerator and press again it picks up and works as normal. Happens more when cold. So hoping its just the cold weather. Any suggestions? Cheers all.
  12. Yea I thought the same thing. Special order, None returnable £17 quid tho lol. Hey Ho all done now I guess.
  13. Ideal thanks Dave.Good to know, I read it on a previous thread when someone had done a DIY belt change and it was mentioned on one of the comments is all. Again thanks mate. Answers I was looking for. 200k! My man! Out of curiosity, how many turbo's you been through? :P
  14. Afternoon Briskodians! Just had my 05 VRS PD130 In for its Cambelt. All done and all good. I read on a previous post that the 3 engine top mount bolts need to be replaced as they are stretch bolts. also the 3 underneath on the bracket? The garage who done my Cambelt said they didn't change them as wasn't needed and they have never changed them. Now, my question is. Should these be changed? And if so is it easy enough to do myself with a one out one in method? Are they on Torque settings or just spanner tight? Any help would be appreciated Boys and Gals.
  15. Banging! Just what I was looking for. Thanks for this.
  16. Morning all, Just wondering if anyone's got like a yellow hue/tint over there headlight or both. My o/s headlamp has like a yellow film over it. Not sure if its dirt or just the lens has had the colour burnt into it from the light over the years. But looks like a light yellow old colour. Any one know how to get rid of this? if you know what im talking about lol, Finding it hard to explain :/ Any help would be appreciated Cheers all.
