  1. thanks for your replies. For your info these tests were done with the following conditions:- - made sure that the tyre were properly inflated. - exhaust seems ok. - drag kept to a minimum, i.e. no roof rack, open windows, etc - light foot on accelerator. Daz51 you said "( now this is important) On favorits and felicais it is common for a sensor to go which controls temperature. the sensor may have broken and it may not detect that the engine is warm, i.e still sucking loads of petrol in during your whole journey, due to the sensor still thinking its cold. " Where is this sensor? (anyone got a photo of it) and how can i check if it works properly or not? Thanks
  2. Hi everyone. I have a 1.3L Felicia 5 door hatchback, 1998. I have fixed the thermostat problem, as the car wasn't warming up. All ok now. However, I don't seem to be getting good mpg figures. Rough calculations indicate about 21 / 22 mpg around town. It doesn't seem to be using any oil. What can i do to improve the mpg, after all it is only a 1.3 engine. Will changing the air filter make any difference; not sure when this was last done. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance
  3. Hi I have a 1.3 felicia petrol, 1998 model. Can I run the engine on cooking oil, rather than petrol? Has anyone ever done this? Thanks in advance F
  4. Hi everyone. Just like to say thanks to everyone for reading and particularly to responding to my previous posts. This forum is very good. I have a 1.3L Felicia 5 door hatchback, 1998. I need to top up the engine coolant, now that i have repalced the thermostat and the little plastic housing that holds the thermostat (it's held by 3 bolts/screws). Which coolant can i use to top up with? Also, the coolant in there is a orangy color, is this important? Can i just use palin water for topping up? Will there be airlocks in the cooling system? With the old one the one of the plastic clips had broken. (By the way, i found the spring and the the piston type parts when i took the old one off, but couldn't find the metal bracket. Thanks
  5. Hi everyone I have got a thermostat and housing from the scrapyard. When i install this on my car are there any seals or anything like that i need to get? or is it just a plastic to plastic fit. Also, to what torque should i tighten the screws/bolts that hold the housing on. Thanks in advance. ps - just to clarify, i am only swapping over the plastic housing that holds the thermostat. The housing is held by 3 screws/bolts, with one of these screws/bolts also securing the dip stick. Hope that is clear.

  8. Hi everyone. I recently bought a 1.3L Felicia 5 door hatchback, 1998. It seems the thermostat has gone, which seems like a common fault on these. Anyone know where you can pick up a cheap thermostat? Thanks in advance
  9. Hi everyone. I recently bought a 1.3L Felicia 5 door hatchback, 1998. I want to change the engine oil, which grade of oil should I be using? Also, the sump drain plug what torque should it be tightened to? Thanks in advance
