  1. I had to reset my infotainment system to factory settings and since then I've been unable to set myself as the primary user. It just spins the icon (after entering my Skoda I'd and password). It loaded my profile correctly because it displays my correct name. Is it safe to delete my car from the existing Skoda id (not activated) and create a new one without losing my active infotainment subscription? Alternative suggestions how to make myself the primary user are also welcome. Skoda support only said to visit my Skoda dealership... Thanks Peter
  2. I got mine on eBay. So far so good.
  3. It was the actual button. Easy to replace and all working again now.
  4. For a couple of weeks I sometimes have problems starting or stopping the engine. I press the button but nothing happens. I do this a few times and eventually it works and the engine starts (or stops). Is this a common fault? Any known remedies? The car is just over one month out of warranty...
  5. I upgraded my firmware to 1941 a few months ago and all problems disappeared (Octavia from SEP 2020). For the last few days I've had periods of constant infotainment reboots. I'm not aware of any OTA updates. I've tried rebooting manually by pressing the on/off button but that didn't change anything. Any advice? Is the some sort of cache clearing option maybe? Cheers, Peter
  6. I had the car in specifically for the pop error and a software update was applied. This didn't change the software version displayed (1896). That seems to have fixed the issue for me. The subsequent crashes all got resolved by upgrading to 1941. So far no more issues for me...
  7. Could I also have a link, please, plus instructions? Does this invalidate my warranty if I do this myself?
  8. Update: I used to get the pop 3-4 times on my way to work (M1->M25->M4) but since the last update I am not getting those anymore. It only happened once on a different route and not since but if that's it then I can live with it. I do, however, get frequent Infotainment crashes first thing in the morning . It crashes 1-4 times in a row and then it's find for the rest of the journey. Anyone else have that?
  9. Mine was in twice now for a fix and it popped again yesterday. Wrote to customerservices AT skoda. Looking forward to their response...
  10. Good to know. The car is booked in with Marshall Letchworth on 13th June.
  11. I am still getting the yellow exclamation mark SOS message. When I then reboot, it's stuck on "Loading Settings". So, the software upgrade alone only fixed the issue that the cockpit display doesn't loos the satnav connection. I'll write to my Skoda dealer. Surely someone must know how to fix this issue for good...
  12. The software on mine was updated from 16xx to 1896. Today I drove the route which usually triggers the pop pop SOS issue. After the upgrade I am still getting the pop pop and SOS message but the navigation keeps working on the steering wheel display. Previously it lost the connection and only worked on the middle console. I'll see how it behaves on the way back. It's usually worse on the return journey with the yellow exclamation mark coming on together with a different SOS message...
  13. Looks like the only way to get live traffic updates in my Columbus MIB3 is to pay for Infotainment Online. It's around £46/year and is supposed to update the maps once a month...
  14. The thing about RDS being used for traffic updates sounds interesting. Can anyone confirm this?
  15. Hi, 15 years after my last Octavia I have now bought a Mk IV. Getting it this Friday 🙂 I know the Mk IV hasn't got a SIM card slot anymore but I also know that I can use my mobile's hotspot to connect the car to it. Will that work for traffic updates or do I really need to buy infotainment data from cubictelecom? Cheers, Peter
