  1. My car seems to be doing regens loads recently... Is this because of the mileage on the car? (109k) I assume that the dpf has more ash in it so it will block up quicker? Car has been amazing, and only problem ever was the water pump. When the dpf finally needs replacing one day, would I be right in thinking the regens will be less often again?

Thanks. (Proud to be on the original brakes too!)

  2. Thanks for the replies.  You are right, they are available, I have found them now on a desktop PC, I couldn't scroll down far enough on my mobile to oct 3 combi, so though it was just hatchback availability..

Recommend any uk suppliers for Bilstein B6?

Also, am I damaging the std shocks by running it like this, or just unpleasant when loaded?

  3. Hi all, my vrs diesel estate dsg (64 reg) has now done 92k, and had the pro spring kit fitted around 5k ago..

However, when I have a far bit of weight on board (airport run etc), it does crash a bit into bumps etc, I am trying to work out if I can get some better shocks/dampers... everyone seems to rate bilstein, but the website doesn't list anything for the Octavia 3?

Not sure if the springs have meant the current original dampers can't cope, or they are just tired..?

    Any help appreciated!

PS, Other than the water pump failure at 85k, it has been faultless, great car.

  4. I'm not changing my derv vrs at the moment, but one annoying thing about it is its lack of traction  (not helped by weight in boot I know).

I wondered, is FWD with an lsd almost as good as 4wd as they don't have a lsd on either axle (The VAG system anyway). Shovelling some torque to the rear will help as that's where a car squats under acceleration, but a good lsd on a 2wd must be almost as good or not?

    Debate!

  5. Whilst I don't carry particularly heavy items in the boot, I do use my car for work so load my tools up each time. What's annoying is the car does squat slightly leaving a healthy arch gap at the front but not so much on the rear and the look bothers me a little...

Like for towing, is there some way of strengthening the rear? Do the police cars have updated suspension ? In nascar they use "packers" perhaps this would work? Any input appreciated!
