  1. Pirelli Centurato P1. These tyres were fitted to the rear on 23rd Nov '19 and have remained there throughout. I am a bit disappointed that they should fail with so much tread left. Mike
  2. HI, Because I only looked for bulges, didn't look hard enough on the first wheel. I only noticed a problem in the second rear I looked at, decided to recheck the first wheel and low and behold exactly same break up of tyre tread. These tyres have covered 31.5k miles so I suppose they have done enough miles, got to say there are a few mm left on the treads right across the width. Again many thanks for your assistance. Despite the other machinery in our garage, the Roomy has a place in my heart. Cheers, Mike
  3. Hi Roottoot, Just finished removing the rears and found the problem. The tread has split in the middle of the width, for about a quarter of the circumference. Changed onto spare. I will take it for a road test, I hope that solves the problem. The tyres are well within tread depth with low mileage, I'll need to show them to my tyre man. Thanks for your help, much appreciated.   4. Hi All, Been a while since my last visit as the car is or was faultless up to recent. Car is a 1.2TSi, '64 plate, circa 56k miles. About 3 months ago I detected a low frequency vibration, at first very quiet, now it is plainly noticeable. I cannot work out what is causing this noise. The 'vibration' occurs between 50 and 60 mph, recedes and reappears around 70. There is nothing felt through the steering wheel, the brakes are all fine, steering is fine, the vibration occurs whether under power or coasting, uphill, downhill or on the flat or cornering. Clutch is fine, gearchange too. I suppose the noise/vibration sounds a bit like a rear window is open and causing buffeting, that's the sort of noise. Can anyone come up with a suggestion as to what the issue is ? Thanks, Mike

  6. Hi Everyone, All other door locks operate OK, however there is a faint clicking from the tailgate lock when pressing the button on the fob. It's stuck in the closed position meaning I cannot get into the boot. What can I do ? Thanks for any help. Mike
  7. Hi All, I managed to drive over my spare key...idiot ! It still works after a style, but it is 'distressed'. Today I attempted to use the fob to open the car, no go. I had to change the battery a short while ago and now it ppears it needs changing again. I opened the car using the blade in the key hole, put the key in the ignition and turned it which caused the alarm to go off. My local stealer has quoted me huge numbers and delay to get one. Is there somewhere that forum members use for a replacement service, the car is a '64 plate, thanks goodness the second key still works. Ta Mike

  10. Hi All, Well the noise issue is explained, now another question. I need a second key. My local Skoda Dealer explained before the lockdown that there would be an extended delivery time, couple of months and a huge cost, can't remember exactly but would set me back several £ hundreds. Does anyone know a way of getting another key at a sensible cost in a reasonable timeframe ? Thanks and Stay Safe, Mike
  11. Hi Folks, Thanks for all the input, I have an answer. Apparently the noise is being caused by a flap in the airsystem/ aircon. It will be fully investigated when our garages up here return to 'normal' Mike
  12. Thanks for that. The sound is definitely coming from above the pollen filter and towards the bulkhead. I got the fibre board off but didn't take it any further as it seems to need a contortionist to get up and under and remove the filter . Car runs fine, I just don't know what might happen if I let the 'ticking' go on. Thanks for you help. Mike
  13. Hi Guys, thanks for your responses. I did an on-line search for fuel pump issues and I am fairly sure it's not the pump; it primes instantly when the ignition is switched on and then no further sound. This morning I got right round into the passenger's footwell to listen, the noise seems to be under the dash, but definitely on the nearside. Another development, when the 'ticking' is heard I switched on the aircon and immediately the noise became much more intrusive, also when the noise is not present I can induce it by switching on the aircon. It goes away when I switch the a/c off. So I am leaning towards a relay, but the handbook does not mention relays, there's got to be some somewhere ! Can you suggest some diy action, and first I need to be able to find my way into the area of the noise, how do I go about that ? Stay Safe Mike
  14. Hi All, '64 plate, ~25k miles, 1.2 TSi SE (Roomster), tank half full. Started this morning as usual, after 10secs or so a noticeably loud, dull clicking of about sec in period could be heard, the clicking lasted for 10/12 clicks then disappeared. No lights on dash. I drove off and then stopped about 50m later (to speak to neighbour) no clicking when I stopped with engine running, then clicking re-appeared again for about 10/12 clicks and off again. as far as I can tell the noise seems to come from under the floor on the passenger's side. At first I thought 'relay' but the noise is too dull, it's almost a light thump. There is no sign of fuel on the underside nor is there any smell either under or in the car, the car drives and revs fine (up to 60mph), no apparent sign of starvation. Has anyone a suggestion as to why the clicking ? Thanks. Mike
