  3. Hi, I currently drive a 2022 Volvo XC60 and a 2015 Honda CRV. I have just ordered an Eniaq iv 60 which will replace my Honda. This will be my first EV. I went with the 60 version as I will be using the car for commutes and I can charge it in my garage. For longer trips, I have the Volvo which is a diesel mhev and a lovely car to drive. I look forward to using the forum. It will be a long wait…
  4. I ordered an Eniaq, my other car is a mhev Volvo XC60 which is also a very heavy car. Am I right in expecting tyre wear to be similar? Thanks.

  6. Will try, although local dealer already said that he does not have a 2.0 Tdi I can try. He said either 1.6 or Vrs. I will now chech re petrol cars. Thanks Dave
  7. Really 450 miles? I do that in the BMW (2.0 n/a petrol).
  8. Once more, thx again for your input. One last question please : is it true that if you have interrupt a regen diesel is dumped into the sump?? Also, do you interrupt a regen by switching off car? If this is true, I am getting the petrol!
  9. Very good point hobbie 2k. I would like to ke low tax because at the moment I have 2 petrol cars and I pay too much. The Ford Focus that will be replaced by the Skoda is nearly £200 a year. Mpg is all about pump psychology for me as I do not do do many miles. Most of all is about how it drives and reliability for me.
  10. Thanks a lot for all you comments. I just came in from a 100 mile drive in my 3 series 318i. It was mostly windy a roads so quite a lot of gear changing. I did 37 mpg with semi careful driving. This is why I was going for the diesel. I am no racer but I enjoy power at low revs, so I thought the diesel would be good for me. Re the dpf, on a drive like today, 30 - 50 mph, on a roads, is this good for it? Surely the engine gets warm enough, probably more than motorway driving? Thanks again

  12. The 2.0 Tdi will cost me about £1,400 more than the 1.4 Tsi. 1.2 Tdi is a lot cheaper and it is cheap to tax, but I am assuming that it will be underpowered especially in an estate.
  13. Thanks again guys, very helpful. If it was not for the dpf I would definitely go with the diesel, but as it I'll try both. I guess I was looking forward to being able to drive less carefully and still get decent mpg. The 318i can do at least 45 mpg on my drive to work, but with great care. I drive a bit more enthusiastically and I get 35 mpg. My wife drives it and she is lucky to get 30! She does not drive fast but revs it quite a bit before changing gears. Somewhere I also read that if you interrupt dpf regen you get diesel in sump!!! I cannot imagine arriving somewhere late (which we often do...), the kids are screaming, my wife is complaining and I'm like: " No, I cannot stop and park the car because it is regenerating!!!"   14. Thanks a lot for your replies guys, very helpful. I will try both and see, but petrol is not looking so bad. When I said 50 miles to work, I meant 25 miles each way. And I have to slow down due to 30 mph in villages. Is this ok for regen? Also, what do we know about the longevity of smallish petrol on larger cars? As I said, this is a private purchase as a family car and I will be keeping it for a long time, @ 10 years. Thanks again. Dave
  15. Thanks. I plan on keeping it for 10 years, so yes, long term. Will the 1.4 not struggle with a loaded car and therefore return very poor mpg?
  16. I was so sure I wanted the Octavia estate 2.0 Tdi. At the moment I drive a BMW Touring 318i, I like it, but I am fed up of having to be so careful to get around 40mpg. I was looking at the brochure and realised that I had no idea what dpf meant. I looked it up and..... The thing is I do not do that many miles, about 10k a year, on the one car, but I still would like a diesel. My drive to work is a 50 mile round trip with a mix of roads, no motorway, but there is quite a long stretch, maybe 8 miles at 60mph, slowing to go through villages. I do not do it every day as I car share, so I drive it 5 times in two weeks. The other option would be the 1.4 Tsi, but I am confused. We will be keeping the BMW, my wife will be driving it. Any comments/advice from owners of these two engines on estates greatly welcomed. A thanks Dave

  18. Actually I delayed order as my friend confused me by saying that I should get a petrol one because I do not do a lot of mileage. Dpf and all that. However I never tried a petrol one...
  19. Hi, apart from an old Range Rover, I never owned a diesel car. At the moment I am driving a BMW 3 series Touring 318i - it's no rocket but drives well and get 38 mpg. I am now getting an Octavia Estate. I decided to get the 2.0 Tdi as I assume it's better in the estate. Then someone confused me as they told me that since I do nit cover a lot of miles I should get a petrol due to dpf issues! I plan on keeping the car for a long time. I cover under 10k a year but I want a powerful car that doesn't drink too much fuel. Any suggestions? I am trying the 1.6 on Tuesday. Thanks Dave
