  1. Aye, joedemp from Kildare. I'm going to try to convince the guys that run the Cold War Classics Ireland fb page to come up too. One is Kildare based, but might be too far for his MB...
  2. Right. Oxford Island are grand. No trouble at all, in fact the guy in charge was quite enthusiastic. "Skodas?" he said, "There'll be loads of you, they're EVERYWHERE!" It's open from 10-5, with breakfast until 11.30 and other food available throughout the day, plus they're cool with BBQs if you fancy. I'm just to warn them of approximate numbers nearer the time. So, seeing as it's the guts of 4 hrs driving from Clonmel (you nutter, Yellowsnow), why don't we say lunchtime? 1 o'clock? Not dictating here, that's a suggestion. Please chime in...
  3. Sorry all, **** going on. No further on time. Keep meaning to phone Oxford Island and see what's open when on a Sunday (and to double check it's ok to meet up there). Will move on it this week. Jonny
  4. Best work out the times first though! I think the place is open all day, but the Discovery Centre is only 2-5 on a Sunday. The cafe may be different as I've seen someone posting about early walks and breakfasts on Sundays. I must be dim, but I can't figure it out, so I'll call Oxford Island in the morning before I start posting elsewhere. How does 1 sound. I'll probably have food with me (especially if the family are in tow), but it will give folk options once the place is open, and apparently BBQs are allowed too. I'm not going to bring sausages for everyone though - you can all feed yourselves.
  5. Ach PM! Didn't think of that! Forum novice.... I will get some posts up on SOCGB and other such places.
  6. Time depends on opening hours. Website is inconclusive, but I suspect we're looking at 2-5. Suits fine at this end. Yes, could we pin a top post? Don't think I can edit post #1 after all this time. Would probably be best just posting a new locked thread. That would save anyone having to sort through all those discussions you had with mac11irl about ferries and Scottish roads.... :p
  7. DOES SUNDAY 24th JULY AT OXFORD ISLAND DISCOVERY CENTRE SUIT EVERYONE? If I get a nod from here, I will start spreading the word in other places, virtual and otherwise. Anyone heard from Gobsheene recently?
  8. I had better keep the 31st July free as work can't give me a straight answer. Basically they could fill the days which have recently become empty, and they only have to give 4 weeks notice, so leaving it 'til the end of June to fix a date may not be the best idea. So...
  9. Just wait until I'm on it inexpertly towing our ancient caravan!
  10. Maybe, but I'd drive a LOT further if it means not having to go to Larne.
  11. My preference too. It won't dissuade mRS HS from coming, as there are swings for the kids. I think she's intrigued, and she has a soft spot for the green machine.
  12. How about one of these two: Cohannon Inn http://www.cohannon.com/index.html or Oxford Island Discovery Centre http://www.oxfordisland.com/ These were the suggestions of a guy near Dungannon who has used both for such things before. He's up for a meet - used to be listed as NI rep for SOCGB, but could never get much interest. Says his 110 is always up for a photo or two. The Oxford Island one is better for photos maybe. Both do food, and are reasonable apparently. Will have to check opening times and the like. I can't seem to make head nor tail of the website! Thoughts?
  13. Probably the same stage that I'll be meeting my sister in law in Scotland.
  14. Right. First Sunday in August is out for me, so how about looking end of July? 24th or 31st? I'd prefer the 31st, but will have to check with work before committing; there's a great big fat TBC in the advanced planner, and they can change whatever they like until 4 weeks beforehand. When the big boss says jump...
  15. I always imagined his car would be yellow. Dunno why!
  16. Thanks for the kick up the arse. Will check calendar for work, although it's only fixed a month in advance. End of July sounds good. T'missus wants to come and bring the kids. Have to work on that one. I'll get in touch with the guy in Dungannon who pops up on SOCGB from time to time. Quite central and he may know somewhere suitable. Any objections. There's the guys that run Cold War Classics Ireland too. ONe with his MB and one with the Estelle. They seemed fairly keen, but I don't know how South they are. Anyway. Will get on it.
  17. Someone (can't remember who) told me that the Favorit alloys were wider, like Yoss said about Felicias. Sounds like it's in good hands!
  18. It's a lovely plate for where it was! Near the M67 and Manchester! I think it changed hands very recently - like someone bought it and split the car and the spares, only for the car to be resold very quickly. In safe hands now!
  19. Oh, and paint code, sorry I forgot. Mine is on a tiny wee sticker in the engine bay, under the wiper motor and roughly behind the steering wheel.
  20. Did you buy M67 MNC ? I was watching that on AutoSh*** too. Not that I need another, but always interested to see where they end up. Glad it's gone to someone who is straight on here. This site is brilliant. Mine has the Silverline alloys too, even though it is a much more common Flairline. Health to drive...
  21. YellowSnow, this is a slight tangent, but I am always being pestered by Ken, the organiser of this meet (held at Kilkenny show). He's a Skoda man too (lovely old 1000MB in the pic linked below is his yoke). Problem is I have a recurring family commitment last weekend in August so it always rules me out, but it's nearer Tipperary for sure and I thought you might fancy it. There was another meet (Leinster I think) being discussed on here the other day, but I didn't pay it much attention. https://www.facebook.com/events/547965922045329/ Like FUBAR said, if you have plans to be up North, or at least further North in the summer, let us know.
