[GSM III+ BT Android Problem]

Hi there folks.

I have a "new" Superb (actually first registered Sep10, but new to me!) and have paired my Work Nokia 6301 fine. My personal phone is an O2 [non-rooted] HTC Desire running Froyo (Android Version = 2.2 / Baseband = 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27).

When I try and pair the phone I enter the 16 digit code, and it connects, then I guess it is the SIM connection that asks for a "Password". My SIM is not password protected. Is this indicative of the issues you are describing? Do I have to enter some default password (eg:0000)?

I've been reading the android-rsap.com page, but until I'm out of my current mobile contract (August) I'd rather not root my phone. Also, I am a *big* Google user (Gmail, Apps, contacts... the lot). I'm a bit concerned with the Google contact syncing business, since I do need to use that albeit not necessarily in the car, but having to enable/disable all the time would be a serious blocker for me.

While I'm a computer tekky, I admit that I've paid little attention to smartphones... they're just a tool for me, so I'm not really as knowledgeable as perhaps I could be in this area.

You could try updating the maps by loading the V7 disc (if it doesn't load then V7 is already installed) failing that it will be the firmware that is not up to date.

I found fuelly very useful whilst I was adjusting the consumption on the MFD,

thepuss, easiest way is to see if you have 7 digit postcode searches available, if you do then it's running V7 maps and latest firmware.

If you really need to 'see' what firmware it is on then you will need someone with VCDS

I don't seem to have the 7 digit postcodes... When I type XX7 1--, it switches to ask me the place after the "1" , that being the 4th (well, 5th I suppose) character.

But I don't know if this is because of firmware or maps?! As I say I have the unopened v7 maps disk... whether that means its not installed but the firmware is OK, so I just need to install the maps

Incidentally, a bit of a thread hijack, but do you find "FUELLY.COM" useful? I noticed it on your signature and went to look it up. I think I might start using it, especially as it will encourage me to keep better track of my business mileage!

Good evening Folks,

I got my (almost) my Superb last Saturday and there is a DVD in the glove box. It says "v7" but I can't remember all the other numbers and codes on it. It is still sealed.

Is there any way *I* can check what version of MAP and FIRMWARE are installed on the Columbus unit, or do I need to find someone with VCDS (or a my dealer?) to do this?

Are there any particular rules or conventions that apply to the folder structure and/or filenames for using an SD card?

I am expecting a 32Gb SDHC Class 10 from 7dayshop tomorrow!

I was at a dealer yesterday and he said that another colour had been affected too... can't remember as I wasn't really listening but it might have been "Pacific Blue"...

I am about to get (Wednesday) my new (actually 2nd hand v low mileage - Sep10) Superb Estate 2.0TDI CR170 4x4.

I would like to have had new, but the waiting time doesn't suit, and I'm not going to go elsewhere, and the price was just too good to miss.

I've had 2 Octavias so far, 1.9 TDI L&K (2004) which my sister is now running, and 2.0 TDI DSG L&K (2007) which I'm just giving up.

I'm *really* looking forward to the Superb, as I've had my eye on the Estate since it was announced at Frankfurt in 2009, but I'm slightly wary as it'll be the longest car I've ever driven!

[Delivery Times - on track ?]

I was looking at an almost new Superb 4x4 Estate about a week ago, and enquired about delivery times on new. Dealer (South Bucks) told me that it would be about 6 months on that model and maybe 4-6 weeks less for the hatchback. It's not looking good on Yetis either!

(well, it is looking good from Skoda's point of view... they're selling 'em faster than they're making 'em!)

I saw a Yeti on Friday at the new(-ish May09) Hughes Beaconsfield dealership.

The guy who brought the Yeti in (LHD and CZ plates) said the wheel couldn't be rear mounted because of (a) the weight on a hatch-type door, and ( various bits of legislation about obscuring lights (but I guess that could have been sorted out at the design stage if they'd wanted to...)

Incidentally, while I'm on my 2nd Octavia (2007 2.0 TDI L&K DSG Estate) I don't go to dealers very often (like most of us, I'd hope [big grin]...) the sales bod told me that no Skoda (Octavia?) sold in UK since May09 has been supplied with a spare wheel as standard. Like a lot of the comments, I was a bit wary of this, and the gunk and compressor combo as a replacement, until I eventually remembered that my last car before the Octavias was a "just Post Launch (Aug01) Mini Cooper. I drove that for three years with no spare on-board and it wasn't fitted with run-flats then either.... just (yep you've guessed it) it gunk and compressor!

For what its worth I would buy a full size spare and keep in in my garage. Thinking back, every flat I've had except one has been "noticed" when I was at home, so swapping out the wheel/type would be not inconvenient at that point. Also, having it "available" would mean I could arrange to pack it for long trips / holidays if I felt the need.

Incidentally the dealer gave me three pages of photo copy from Skoda's internal website showing build dates, power train/transmission specs, trim specs, and proposed pricings. I can scan them if anyone is interested....

Its a very nice car... a bit like a shrunken version of my father's Freelander 2. I was a little disappointed that the load space was smaller than the Octavia Estate, but then in a year's time I'll be free of pushchairs so it will be less of a problem!

Another incidentally if you're interested: the show car at the dealer had "022" in big orange stickers on the rear window, if anyone is keeping track, and it was a LHD Cz registered Elegance spec TDI.

[Headlights and driving abroad?]

This is brilliant (the PDF file). Having got a quote of damned near 50 quid for the change from a Skoda dealer, I have been looking for alternatives... Someone somewhere on the web said that you can stick strips on a set of headlamp protectors, but I dont know how hot these Xenons run...

I was looking at the weekend at my lights and I noticed the hook, but I thought that perhaps the little black tab with the pimples on it my hold the answer but I'll be trying this all at the weekend.
