  1. Hi I've got a friend who has a chronic health problem who I take out in my Fabia Estate (17reg) now and then. He struggles to get in because he can't bend his body very much. Recently he got into a 22 reg Fabia and to his surprise got in more easily. When he gets in mine the seat is as low as it can be for him. So I'm wondering if the seats in the newer models are different to mine, that is lower? If so would there be an option of buying one of these seats and having it fitted to my car? I like the model I have - 1.2 4 cylinder with turbo - and don't want to change it. Any thoughts please? Thanks
  2. I have a 17 reg Fabia 1.2 estate. Great car, my third Fabia. I usually drive with the fan on number one and selected to the windowscreen with the AC off. I notice that the air that comes up to the screen is very cold. This causes the windowscreen on the outside to form condensation in the area where the cold air hits the screen. This happens whether the climate outside is warm or cool. I drove my other 2 Fabias in the same way with the fan on number one (both had AC) and I didn't have this problem. I have to frequently use my wipers to clear the condensation. I'm wondering if the AC is still on despite the light on the switch not being on. Any thoughts please? Thanks
  3. Hi and thanks to anyone who replies If I wait for the Glow Plug icon to go out, the car starts ok. I've had the battery checked and it's fine. However, if I turn the key before the Glow Plug light goes out the car won't start. Then when I turn the key and try again, there isn't enough umph in the battery to turn the engine over. Any pointers please? Suggests to me the battery is not being charged much as it runs - alternator issue maybe?
  4. Hello I'm on my 2nd Mk1. Both have been great cars. This last one, a 56 reg 1.4tdi 80 bhp has now done 100k. It's been totally reliable (always serviced based on the manufacturers maintenance schedule by an independent VW group garage). It's good to drive, accelerates very quickly and is good on diesel consumption. Now it's done 100k I'm thinking of changing it for a Mk2 2014 1.2tsi 86bhp. This will be a car made at the end of the Mk2 range - the Mk1 was made at the end of the Mk1 range. In my simple mind I think that all the tweaks have been done by this time at the end of production runs. Because the Mk1 is so good to drive and reliable, I am wondering whether to keep it longer or to change it. I need a reliable car because from time to time I have to do 200 mile journeys to support family who experience periodic ill health - hence the need for reliability. I guess if in doubt I should go ahead and change the Mk1 for a Mk2. Anyone got any thoughts on this please? - would be pleased to hear them. Thanks
  5. Hi I'm on my 2nd Fabia, the latest one being a 56 reg 1.4 3 cylinder tdi. Had it from 1 year old. A great car, so was the first one. I usually buy cars around 1 year old and keep them for around 8-10 years, Within the next 2 years I'll be looking for another car and am very interested in the MK3. I'm wondering about the timing belts. Are the new engines still using the rubber belts that need changing periodically or have chain belts been used? Can anyone answer this one for me please and if so, how often (mileage and years) should they be changed? Thx
