Lane assist is dangerous
.. who saw it and decided not to rise to the provocation. I stand by what I have said. Signalling to an empty road indicates poor observation and awareness of other road users, but better safe than sorry. You are quite right to assume that I'm an old codger. My reaction times are much slower than they used to be, my vision is not what it used to be and the little driving that I now do is over short distances and within my current capabilities. I know my own limits and remain within them but recognise the fact that that in the not too distant future it will no longer be appropriate for me to get behind the wheel.

My Skoda - Remote Locking - "Processing time for this request has run out Please try again later. Thank you !"
I wonder how many people have paid the annual charge and still feel that it is good value for money. Personally I chose not to subscribe after the first year.

I agree absolutely. Signalling to an empty road is a clear indication of poor observation and awareness of other road users. We're singing off the same sheet

Lane assist is dangerous
The instructor on one of my early advanced driving courses used to say, "Congratulations, you've seen something that I missed. Who are you signalling to?" Of course that was far preferable to what he would say if you failed to indicate your intention when there was another road user within sight who would benefit from a signal😄. Better safe than sorry eh?

You're asking me to tempt fate 😁. Yes it's fine, for now!

Infotainment system re-booting.
Same here but for me mileage is only displayed when cruise control is switched to "off" on the stalk. I've never taken much note of or used trip counters being more interested in the actual mileage. I think it may come from having spent most of my working life driving and having to fill in a log book at the start & end of each shift including the mileages. Just personal preference really. I don't drive much now but in the recent past I did make some use of cruise control. It will stay switched off now but it seems an odd choice to have to make.

Nice find. Not quite the same in my case where the off switch for cruise control is on top of the stalk but nevertheless switching it off does make the current total mileage appear

Lane assist is dangerous
Yes it did and has done on more than one occasion in my case and that is my point, it makes totally incorrect decisions. It is clear that you just want to argue. Just one last try and then I'm done. The lane I mentioned is dead straight for about 1.5 miles. It is a flat moorland area and there are no obstructions to vision. The tarmac surface is wide enough for two cars to pass easily without slowing down. There are absolutely no markings at all, NONE. The edge of the tarmac drops straight onto grass which slopes down into a shallow ditch. The construction of the road ensures firstly, efficient run off of water and secondly, being slightly elevated keeps the road above any standing water. 40 m.p.h. is a perfectly safe speed along this stretch of road especially as on the occasion I talked about there was no other vehicle anywhere in sight. To have the car suddenly decide to pull to the nearside for no reason at all took me completely by surprise. Over and out....

Lane assist is dangerous
To be clear, I am talking about lane assist. When I start my engine I have to select driver assistance in the central display then select the lane assist option (I don't switch off the front assist/braking as it's never bothered me) then switch lane assist off. I then return to the main menu. Lane assist is now deactivated for that journey. At the start of the next journey lane assist is active again. The blame for my early experience lies to some extent with the salesman who did the handover. He didn't warn me that the car would occasionally try to steer itself. I was going home the pretty way on a long straight moorland lane just wide enough for two cars to pass. The road surface had no markings at all and has shallow ditches on both sides. I was driving normally and the car suddenly veered towards the nearside only by an inch or two but very little more and I would have ended in the ditch. Totally unexpected and without any valid reason whatsoever. You may find it hard to believe, I am not in the habit of telling lies.

Lane assist is dangerous
My early experience of lane assist whilst driving home after picking the car up from the dealership had a profound and lasting effect on me. It was my first experience in just over 55 years of driving of the car taking over control and making a totally incorrect decision. Since that first time, I've felt the steering wheel being tugged in my hands but nothing to match that first heart stopping moment. If I still drove on a daily basis, I would have got rid of the car long ago.

Lane assist is dangerous
Simply put, because it is not possible. I switch it off, it switches itself back on at the start of the next journey. The present implementation of lane assist in my car is at best irritating and potentially dangerous. It manages to detect lanes on roads where none exist i.e. where there are no road markings whatsoever. I'm a great protagonist of safety devices that work, lane assist doesn't in the road conditions that I often encounter.

Lane assist is dangerous
If that comment is a reply to my post then I can assure you that it is not rubbish. Deactivation of lane assist on my car takes effect only until such time as the engine is switched off. It is active again at the start of the next journey. Obviously if it hasn't been switched off in the first place, it is going to remain active.

'Driver assistance' settings are per journey. I always switch both off before I set off from home but almost always forget on the rerturn journey until it's too late and I'm reminded by the 'naughty child' pulling at the steering wheel.

OK, I knew I'd seen it somewhere before and can't imagine why I didn't realise that you can only see the mileage when the engine's not running . I now know the car has done 2,097 miles.

Infotainment system re-booting.
Had to go out today so before I set off, I re-booted the system 3 times one ofter the other. I'm touching wood as I say 'It worked'. It hasn't re-booted again whilst I was driving Moving on to the next problem, when I got home I sat for about ten minutes in the car going through every menu option I could find and for the life of me I cannot get the car's total mileage to display. Trip display/reset is no problem but for the moment, if I'm asked how many miles the car has done -I can only guess! Must be me I'm sure.

S - Pin
.... aint that the truth! At the moment I can't even work out how to display my current mileage. On topic, I don't recall ever seeing or being asked to either set or enter a pin. Is this dependant on either the model or entry system?

Infotainment screen rebooting and Freezing
You're not alone as I posted here I am having a similar problem and after having booked it in and wasted a morning at the dealership - it's still the same . p.s. the workshop obviously did a diagnostic check as I was asked whether the battery had been disconnected or gone flat so presumably that is something that shows up in the error logs,

Infotainment system re-booting.
Well that was a waste of a morning. The system re-booted once on the way to the dealership. Once the car was in the workshop, I was asked whether the battery had been disconnected or gone flat at all. The answer to that was never disconnected but it had gone flat once last year when I forgot to unplug my dashcam. I now keep the maintenance charger plugged in when the car is in my garage. After two hours I was told that all errors had been cleared and it should be OK now. I got 2/3rds of the way home and the system re-booted again

Infotainment system re-booting.
I'm with you on that, I never even bothered to go in to the dealers to get the extra options during the first year. Skoda Connect must be of value to some people but I'm most certainly not one of them.

Thanks but I know for a fact that the car needs a software update so it needs to go in and it's also ready for a clean

Infotainment system re-booting.
I know I've read something on here but I can't find it now. I had to go to our local hospital yesterday (about 6 miles) and on both journeys there and back, after a couple of miles the radio cut out, I heard a fairly high pitched buzzing and the system then re-booted. Perhaps I shouldn't anticipate things but I can just hear it now, "No, we've never heard of that before" but I'm sure it's not uncommon. The car has not had a system update and I know there is a software update out for it so 'cross fingers' that might solve it. I took delivery late December 2019 by the way.
