  1. When I was out earlier, I had the radio on when it suddenly changed channel apparently quite spontaneously. I changed back and a minute later it happened again. I realised that I had been tapping to the music on the steering wheel. I now find that I can change channel with a wave of my fingers without taking my hand off the wheel
  2. That's not something that I've noticed but the rake angle of my drivers seat back has a tendency to slowly change. I have to give the adjuster a half turn or so every other time I get in. It's something that I'm going to raise with the dealer at the next service.
  3. The model is in my signature, December 2019 with 2,500 miles on the clock. I didn't renew the Skoda Connect services after the first year, perhaps that has a bearing. I recently had an email from the dealers asking me if I wanted to sell it back and suggesting I get a valuation. I'm thinking about it
  4. I have to admit to being borderline OCD about many things one of which is the time displayed by my car. I had to go out this morning and planned to get to my destination a minute or two after 09:00. I locked up about 08:50 and was driving off up the road when I clanced at the time - 07:12. When I put the car away yesterday the time was correctly set so overnight, the faeries had been in and changed it. They also keep changing the radio station that I choose in the time between the car being used and the next time it is used and they keep changing the angle of my seat back. I seem to spend just as much time adjusting settings before I can set off as I do actually driving!

    Lane assist.

All well and good if you are actually undertaking some sort of manoeuvre. My first experience was on a long straight country lane just about two cars wide with ditches both sides but a very patchy surface. This was half an hour after I picked up the car. It frightened me stiff and has left a deep seated distrust that I will never get over.
  6. With luck the car behind will also have a similarly effective system.
  7. As has been said in various threads before, but that doesn't make the implementation of it in the Kamiq either safe or desirable. In my own experience it is unreliable and makes completely incorret 'decisions'. It makes the driving experience more stressful and tiring and there is nothing to commend it as it stands. I gave my feedback on the subject to Euro NCAP some time ago using their contact form.
  8. Must admit I hadn't thought about software updates. So if at some time they manage to make a change to the software to prevent the car from periodically trying to snatch the steering wheel out of my hand I won't get the update. Well at least I've now managed to get into the habit of switching lane assist and stop/start off before driving off.
  9. I have allowed my Skoda Connect subscription to lapse. It's never been more than a pointless toy to me and I wonder whether it's still working in the background 'watching' everything I do and where I go, something I find vaguely disquieting.
  10. I would bve perfectly happy with stop/start IF it would only 'remember' that it was switched off!!
  11. Had your wife by any chance got a set of keys in her handbag?
  12. Just had an email telling me that my SKODA connect services are soon to expire and inviting me to renew. I'm not going to waste my breath telling them that for me it has not been working since December. There was a period roughly June-August last year that it worked although I never bothered to have the additional activation at the dealers as they wanted to charge me when other people were getting it for free (the activation that is). I'm sure some people must find it useful but I don't and I think it's just an interesting toy. Are there opposite views?
  13. In the UK it depends to some extent on whether you want a 'standard' specification model or not. My last three new cars were two Yetis and my current Kamiq. My first Yeti was in the showroom and I took delivery of it the day after I ordered it. My second and third cars were built and in transit and took a week to 10 days from ordering to delivery. It wouldn't suit anyone wanting to specify extras I know but I was happy.
  14. The 'enhanced features' have to be activated by the dealer. They say you need to go in to the dealership together with ID for them to do it. I believe that the emergency call facility is something that is active from the outset without further input from the dealer.
  15. It's not an issue for me, just something that's gone through my mind now and again. What is the equivalent condition in my car with 'limited' KESSY i.e. ignition on but not started? Foot on the brake pedal but not pressed the start button?
  16. My charger came with several different adapters including the 'cigarette socket' one. It's always been the most convenient one for me to use particularly when I had a socket in the boot. When I responded previously, it was more with reference to what I understood as a query as to the suitability of the CTEK charger. I've always been very pleased with mine.
  17. I'm not aware of any reason why the charger is unsuitable.
  18. I charge/maintain my battery (CTEC charger) by plugging it into the 'cigarette lighter' socket in the front centre console. My last Yeti had a socket in the boot which, sadly, the Kamiq hasn't got.
  19. Quite so. Pointless locking doors and windows as well. I was simply saying what I think is the reasoning behind hiding the VRM.
  20. Harks back to instances in the past when people started getting parking fine notices etc. in respect of their vehicle when they know they were far away from where the alleged infringement took place , a cloned reg. no. on a vehicle, perhaps stolen of the same make/model. p.s. In these days of ANPR I'm not sure whether systems are sufficiently developed to pick up on 2 vehicles running around in different parts of the country with the same VRM
  21. The good thing about stop/start both on my last Yeti and now my Kamiq is that it's a simple button press as you start the engine to disable it!
  22. Absolutely agree about lane assist, spawn of the devil!!
  23. Sure have, as implemented on my car it's a simple answer - Never. It's like having a naughty child in the car who grabs the wheel every so often and tries to steer for you.
  24. Does nearly count, if so that's what happened to me on my way home in my Kamiq the day I picked it up from the dealers. Really frightened me!!
  25. One of the ways that black ice forms is from rain falling onto a slightly sub zero road surface. Comes down as liquid but instantly forms ice, I imagine you might have a similar scenario on/in other surface materials.
