  1. Good news... the sealant IS there! It was hiding under the compressor!! The BCA guy didn't look hard enough obviously
  2. I'll take a look! So I spoke to VWFS about the inspection report... they've knocked off 2 alloy wheels, the bumper pain, one of the dents and the tyre sealant (on the basis I send them my initial order form which shows I didn't order it)... so the bill is now down to £240 from £420. Still more than I wanted to pay, but a lot better nonetheless!
  3. Front end is surprisingly, ok, bar the chip on the bumper they wanna charge me £55 for. This is what I don't really get... how can they expect a car that can cover 65k mileage to not have more than a stone chip?
  4. Yeah mine's going back about a week early... I think the prices they are charging are relatively reasonable, but just wasn't expecting there to be so many things to be charged for... Always looked after the car, but there's always going to be a fair amount of wear and tear, with 65k mileage, of which 90% of that has been motorway mileage...
  5. Thing is, i'm happy to fight it, but what's my argument to fight it, other than the tyre sealant? And do I wait for them to ask me for the money? As for scuffs, the allowance is "totalling up to 50mm on the total circumference of the wheel)
  6. So after 3 years and 65,000 miles, the time has come for the Octavia vRS to go. Car is being collected in 1 weeks time. However, just after some advice regards the Vehicle Condition Report. The report states: 1) All 4 wheels require refurb @ £36 each (£144) 2) Tyre sealant missing - £47.50 to replace 3) Scratch on bumper, less than 25mm through top coat - £55.20 to repair 4) Dent across swage line on wheel arch - £138 to repair and refinish 5) Dent on LHR Door 10mm-25mm - £36 to pop out So here's my take on the findings.... 1) All the alloys are indeed kerbed, but the inspector said they are just slightly over the "wear and tear allowance", so may have to swallow this. 2) My car never came with a spare or the sealant from day one. Was told by VW that it was an optional extra. So why I should I have to pay nearly £50 to replace something that was never there? 3) Looks like a stone chip of sorts from motorway driving, can't really question it 4) Seems expensive? The dent is tiny 5) I couldn't see this dent even after 3 times of the inspector showing me. Eventually I could see the tiniest of dents by looking at it in a certain light. Its madness. What do I do? Its a bill of £420... I just feel like they are expecting the car in brand new showroom condition nearly :( Do VW get in touch with me regards payment? Or do I approach them? This has really put me off leasing in the future.... Thanks in advance!
  7. Yeah my first lease... just hope I can get myself out of this mess unscathed!
  8. I did it online, through Halifax, who i currently bank with.
  9. Yeah I get that... not sure how I can prove it was a genuine mistake though...?
  10. So I'm in the process of making a claim, and the underwriters have asked me for clarification who the registered keeper on the V5c is. Stated they can't proceed with the claim until they have the information in writing. I don't have the V5 form, never did have it, as the car was leased. The car was leased initially through Hippo Leasing, who then handed over to VWFS and I've been dealing with them since. It would appear when I took insurance out, I put myself as the registered keeper, as for some reason at the time, I genuinely thought I was, just not the registered owner. VWFS are sending me a copy of the V5 within 48 hours. However, speaking to the insurance company again, they said my policy will increase to £400 to £1000 if I make the change to registered keeper, and because I have a claim (which has't even been started yet). Even though I have protected NCB and they said it wont affect my NCB. The underwriters even said if I falsely provided the wrong information about the keeper, that would make the policy void, unless they believe I have a reasonable explanation. I feel like i'm getting shafted here.....
  11. Fair comments. On a side note, I was offered the car this afternoon, for £10,900. It's a 2015 Octavia vRS Diesel hatchback with just under 62k on the clock. Good deal?
  12. Thanks again. Also, I got the Skoda Driverline card, which says for glass repairs, it can be used. Assume there's still a fee associated with repairing a windscreen crack?
  13. Hi Mada, literally down the road! How can I find out their list of charges? Might be worth finding out what I'd be facing then weighing up my options...
  14. Thanks guys, some great responses here. I'm still in 2 minds whether to fork out the best part of £1k to fix everything or go insurance route. It is with VWFS, and can't help but worry about getting screwed over financially after the event... decisions decisions! Must admit, I did think i'd get the opportunity to buy the car after the lease, but that's not been offered to me. Shame though, as I would have been very interested in doing so.
  15. So my 36 month lease term comes to end at the end of June... sad times :( However, I need some advice in terms of getting the car fit and ready for collection, so I don't get hammered with additional costs. I need the following sorted: - Car was keyed a few months back, passenger door, rear passenger door and rear quarter panel - Bootlid/rear bumper has some deep scratches/chips from transporting some furniture one day - Alloy wheels have some kerbing - Windscreen has a stone chip in the bottom corner (out of field of vision) And yes, I know it sounds like I don't take care of the car, but cosmetics aside, I do try! I've had a quote for the keying mess, that was around £600/700. So i'm wondering if I can get all the above done through insurance? I have Protected NCB (which probably doesn't mean much theses days). It's been a real workhorse for me, i've covered nearly 65k miles in 36 months, I am gonna miss the old girl....
