  1. If it wasn't connected, wouldn't it start?
  2. OK I unplugged it, still no starting however the wires on there have frayed open and are exposed. Made no diffrerence to starting tho
  3. Where exactly is it? Is there a picture?
  4. If you mean the N75, just removed and tried to start it. No avail.
  5. I now can't start it back up even by towing it. Is it possible that the soienoid is freezing in the weather?
  6. Cleared, car still has the problem. The ones that are back are Valve for Intake Manifold Flap (N239): Open or Short to ground. P3105 --- Intermittent Accelerator position sensor (g79) signal too high P1631 -- Intermittent
  7. With Vagcom I checked the engine errors: Valve for Intake Manifold Flap (N239): Open or Short to ground. P3105 --- Intermittent Accelerator position sensor (g79) signal too high P1631 -- Intermittent Charge Pressure Control: Negative Deviation P1556 - Intermittent and Injection Start Regulation: Control Deviation P1248 -- Intermittent Cleared them, problem still exists. Is there anything else I should be looking for on VCDS?
  8. Hmm, I can't edit the main post. Here's a re-write: I have a 1.9 TDI with 66kw, Engine code ALH. This morning the car was left idling as I went into a cafe to get breakfast as it's -26 today I wanted to heat the engine up a little bit. When I came outside the car had died. I tried to restart it and it refused to. The engine turns over however it will not start. I then left the car for several hours and came back with a tow rope, I pulled the car ready to tow it and decided to start it while being towed by shoving ffirst gear in. This worked. Later on I drove around to test the car out and make sure it wouldn't happen again. Sure enough as I went up a hill the engine died, refusing to start. I flagged someone over, towed me 5 metres and started again in 1st gear. Worked fine. Managed to get somewhere with a friend and boguht another cheap car in case I needed to tow it again on the way home. Sure enough it went again at a similar place while going down a hill this time. Same thing, towed it and started again in gear, worked fine. The fuel had been left in from Poland and so was not optimised for lower than -15 however the car seemed to work ok with it. I realised that it could be a problem so I drove around and emptied the fuel and filled up the tank entirely full of diesel capable of -40 however as you can see from above , it hasn't helped. Would anyone have any idea where I could even start to test what causes this complete randomness to happen?
  9. Hi, Today I was parked up and engine idling to warm it up, the engine randomly died and wouldn't restart with the key. I then towed the car with a friend and started it off in gear which worked fine. Now after driving 100 miles the car has splutted to death and wouldn't start with the key again. A passerby gave me a tow and I started it with the pulling again. Any idea what's causing this?
  10. Yep I did it. Thanks very much, put the spare on and had a nightmare re-setting it but it works better than ever now
  11. Hi, Upon trying to fix my car (which is in another thread), my friends battery was dead due to the severe cold snap we're having here at the moment. When the battery was changed he started the engine which worked fine, then we heard a pop and I saw oil spewing rather rapidly from the top of a seal close to the engine. Googling this it appears to be the oil cooler but I'm not sure what part is actually broken or would need to be changed in order to stop the leaking. The car is a UK spec Superb that has been exported. If it is the oil cooler, why is it needed and could it be bypassed as it does not appear to be there on models sold in Eastern Europe.
  12. Hi, I tried to adjust my shifter today to make it more accurate and broke one of the legs on the shifter cable holder. The holder I have is http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BOWDEN-GEARSHIFT-LATER-STYLE-CABLE-CATCH-NEW-FOR-VW-AUDI-SEAT-SKODA-GOLF-/361463523094?hash=item5428e7a716:g:t6YAAMXQJRhRbBf3 but I have absoultely no idea how to remove this from the gearbox. There appears to be a clip but it can't be removed with anything I've got. Does anyone know?
  13. Wait, people actually want their seat high? I lower the seat as low as it can be in every car as it gives you far more control over the feel of what the car wants.
  14. This was as I pulled in to Poland to go to sleep. In 14 hours, averaging 101kmh (60mph) I'd used 7.1L/100km. Can't tell if its because the DSG just uses a lot or the fuel in the countries I was driving though is ****
  15. You should join the bottom wire up to the other side to have two. This is what I've always done when needing to register here and it's better for visibility to other cars. The connector point is there, it's just empty on RHD Models.
  16. Motorway speeds are what in Aus? I ask because I did 130 in a recent trip from Estonia to Austria and got 7.9L/100. You dont even want to know what I got at 185kmh...
  17. The problem is opening it. Anyone got any ideas how I can get inside without smashing the window?
  18. Hi, I left my Octavia in the UK over the past two months while I transported another car to Estonia. My grandma noticed today that the interior was covered in mold. Upon trying to open the doors to check how bad it was, the battery has died and now the central locking wont unlock the door (Having to open at the boot because the main door lock is broken). Do you have any idea how I can get inside when I go back in a week and just how bad this mold will be for the car. The boot also wont open (although she doesn't know a lot about cars so its possibly just stuck) http://i.imgur.com/3pwjIDc.jpg -- Mold
  19. That's start stop, put your seatbelt on and don't exit the car for more than 30 seconds or it will stop the engine entirely.
  20. Hi, My Fabia didn't come with auto headlights, only the DRLs that are legally required. I'd like to add the auto on feature for the dipped beams and I understand the way you do it is with the newer light switch. If I ordered http://www.cars-equipment.com/www/en/shop/lighting-laser-logo-2/oem-5gg941431d-auto-headlight-switch-light/#prettyPhoto and fitted it, would it work with the Fabias system?
  21. I purchased a new antenna (amplified) and brand new cabling then ran it though the car. Reception is exactly the same and between 96-99mhz I get random stations overlapping each other like theyre fighting for the frequency. The only thing I can put this down to now is electrical interferance but I can't find any...
  22. I just have no power when I should. It's not a major problem as I've driven it like this for over 6000 miles now. There are two errors on VCDS that are P3105 and P1654. I don't know how I can test the turbo, all I know is that it doesn't kick in when it should.
  23. No, I've tried an amp like that and all it did was put more static into the signal.
  24. Hi yet again, The turbo in my TDI engine isn't working and the price to fix it just isn't justifiable. I was aware of the turbo being broken when I bought it in UK but it was never much of a problem until I got on a single lane roads and had to overtake slower lorries. It can take around 30-45 seconds to pass sometimes because of the lack of turbo so this got me thinking Would it be possible to remap the TDI engine to an SDI engine (at 50kw) simply so the engine will ignore the fact the turbo is there and give me a bit more power when I'll actually need it? I remember reading that the engines were the same, just the turbo part was missing and the input covered with a blanking plate.
