  2. I’ve been dipping into this thread with interest. Thinking about replacing the head unit on my Yeti as there’s something up with the radio reception. I get no reception on am and fm comes and goes. I assume it’s something to do with the signal amplifier which I’m also assuming is built into head unit. I like the idea of one of these android units and would like dab too. What are uk buyers experiences of buying from AliExpress? Now that we’re out with the EU it would appear that I’ll be liable for vat and possibly import duty on top of the listed price, at least that’s what their website suggests. Has anyone here purchased a unit recently and if so what happened? Perhaps buying from Amazon or a uk based ebayer would be better?
  3. An update. It was the rear wishbone bushes. Think the technical term is gubbed. I replaced the front pads and discs last week, lots of life left but discs badly grooved. My local Indy sorted the bushes and changed brake fluid. Job done.
  4. Would like to think if my ball joints looked like that the tester would’ve noticed but who knows.
  5. Regarding local recommendations, I’m in Grangemouth, work in Dunfermline. Have a few local guys who seems decent ish but not VAG specialists.
  6. Front Brakes haven’t been done for a while. The mot tester said afterwards he was expecting to find something when he moved car from yard into workshop but ‘twas all good. Definitely not abs. I thought maybe play in suspension somewhere, drop links perhaps? Will seek a second opinion.
  7. Should clarify it’s not suddenly developed, maybe just slightly more noticeable. I had a quick poke and prod the other week when I was changing the oil and didn’t spot anything untoward, but was in a rush to get it back off my ramps as we were going out.
  8. I get a strange feeling through the brake pedal when applying them at very slow speeds, or if facing downhill and applying them. It’s hard to explain but feels aas though something in the system is moving. I wondered if wear in the suspension could cause this. The car has done about 74k miles and passed mot a few months ago with no issues.
  9. I’ve been off this week and plucked up the courage to do my rear discs and pads, and the Haldex drain and clean. I found this guys video really helpful, along with the other info on this thread. https://youtu.be/CqvRLbwT7yY My cars now on 64000 miles. The Haldex was done by the dealer once, I think about 40000miles but obviously the screen in the pump was never changed. I had the car up on axle stands at the back, and access was awkward but not too bad (unlike the rear calliper carrier bolts🤬). Like the previous poster, the harness connector was tight but came off ok with perseverance. As the tech in the video I’ve linked says, it helps to push the clip in first and then you can ping it off with your finger. If you have a look under your bonnet you might see the same style of connector on the back of your headlights that you can practice on.
  10. First car I’ve had with a heated screen and I’m converted. Also a night before de-icer convert. Current morning routine is to start the car and turn on screen and mirror defrost, and by he time I’ve gone over driver and passenger windows with a rubber edged scraper the front is usually starting to melt. My only gripe is that the heated elements on my yeti’s screen seem to be set for left hand drive wiper pattern : consequently the extreme left side of the screen doesn’t defrost on its own and needs some manual deicing.
  11. With regard to airbag, make sure you pass the cable behind the bag rather than in front; don’t want to impair the deployment of the bag should the worst happen.
  12. It turns out that the front nearside wheelnuts were loose . Near side rears weren’t properly torqued either. I had my summer wheels refitted at the start of May and it looks like the guy that fitted them has cocked up. I’m a bit disappointed as I’ve used the same local tyre emporium for years. Ive never felt the need to recheck wheel torque settings in the past but I guess I’ll be doing that in the future. The car was looked at very swiftly by West End Skoda in Stirling, at their newly opened premises.
  13. Sorry don’t know. None near me. On a straight level road at 30 or 40 you can hear it coming and going as you lift off the throttle and then reapply. Speed related as frequency increases as you pick up speed. Thought maybe cv joint as I had something similar on a previous car, though from memory that was more prevalent going around corners. Seems to have come on very quickly. Thought at first I’d picked up a screw or a nail but the fact it comes and goes would suggest otherwise.
  14. I’ve just started getting a knocking/clicking noise when taking my foot off the accelerator. Presume it’s transmission related. The car is a 2014 CR170 4x4 with a manual gearbox. Done just under 50000 miles. The noise disappears under load; might still be there but I’m a bit deaf. Anyone got any ideas?
