I have been having trouble with the idle on the Felicia 1.3 (see previous) and the very helpful bugOlugs has given me a fault code after plugging in his laptop to the car. The code was 01274 - Activated Charcoal Filter (EVAP) System Solenoid Valve 1 (N80) 26-10 Output Open - Intermittent He said he had not seen that before and we could not find anything about it on the internet. Does anyone have any idea what it means?

Had a bit of a RTA and car has just had the cosmetic issues fixed, but idle problem remains! I have put a new (well second hand) MAP sensor in and tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery as philje123 suggested. The car immediately idled at around 2000, then fell back down to 1200 when I revved the engine. The throttle body has been cleaned. Should I try a new throttle body?

Car has been randomly idling and accelerating without the pedal being pressed! A bit unsafe although manageable for the most part. A garage that deals with a large number of Skodas (Amber in Armley, Leeds) diagnosed it as being the thrust sensor, which is located at the top of the engine, almost directly under the cross beam (part code 5wp4271). This is one of many parts that may be responsible for the bad behaviour. I was wondering if anyone had experienced anything like this? I was also wondering if anyone had for a used/refurbished thrust sensor?

I propped up the front end and was unable to generate a clunk with the wheels off the ground. Attempting to rattle the wheels also revealed no play. I have a new track rod end on the nearside, replaced last year.

No, I cannot feel the steering move when it knocks. I shall be attempting to have a look underneith this afternoon and will post with any further info. Thanks

Thank you for that Rigsby. You wouldn't happen to know which page of the Haynes manual might refer to that would you? I have read section 10 'Suspension and steering', but I can't seem to find anything about the steering rack mounting point. Thanks!

My Felicia GLXi (which has power steering if you are not someone who has memorised all of the model names and their features) is making a clunking sound when the steering wheel is turned one half turn in either direction when stationary or travelling at low speed. The sound appears to be coming from the middle of the engine, rather than one side. The sound does not get worse when the car has been in use for a while, nor does it get worse if the car has been travelling on the motorway. I have looked at the tracking rod and end on one side, which were fine with no looseness or wear to the bearings. I suppose I should check the other side! Any other ideas?

FYI - it was the back box. Now replaced. Thanks for all your comments. Now I am going to nick an artic for scrap...

ak89 - 'inlet manifold gasket...an easy fix' I beg to differ! Having looked throught the haynes manual and had a word with a couple of garages, the consensus is that this is a PITA and will take a long time. It is also a job that requires cleanlines and precision when replacing the gasket. I am hoping it is the back box, as the exhaust is on it's way out.

Have replaced oil return breather pipe with genuine Skoda part (£1.35), after waiting 10 days for it. Not entirely confident that the jubilee clips holding it in are sufficiently tight as it is difficult to find small clips. The old one was very stiff and missing its jubilee clip on the throttle side. When I extracted it there appeared to be a hole underneith where the clip would have been. In the interim I used a bit of fuel hose, which was damp/oily on the engine end when I took it off today. FYI However, I don't think that was the problem. If the brake servo check valve were the issue, would not the brakes be stiff?

My Felicia 1998 1.3MPi is experiencing power loss when the engine has load which is accompanied by a hissing sound. This cannot be reproduced when the car is in neutral. I am assuming that it is a problem with the air intake system, but so far have not found anything to blame it on. Any ideas?

Hello Briskoda forums, I am hoping to embark on the task of replacing the brake hoses on my Felicia 1.3MPi. I have searched the forums, but have'nt found any advice on this particular task so far. Can anyone point me at a relevant link? Any advice? This is my second Felicia, the last one was a total pain in the bum (97 Deisel GLi). However, i was so convinced that it should be a good car that I came back for more. Am I a fool? lopas (I can type bum, but not a r s e. What's that about? I would assume that a Skoda driver might be old and mature enough to read the word a r s e without any long term psychological damage. We all have one. Don't we?)
