  1. Its doing it all the time, when I say erratic I mean erratic flash but every time I indicate be it left or right (not sure about the hazards Ill check em)

I guess it could be a duff bulb contact somewhere which is dragging the flasher unit down, but if it does it in both directions, surely that would require a bulb on each side to be dodgy? Ill see if there is one intermittently out, otherwise, I think Im into tracing a dreaded earth fault.

    Thanks and rgds

  2. Thanks kindly.

Ive had a good look about and it sounds like USB can be a bit hit and miss. Is there a list anywhere of compatibilities?, there seems a few different versions (CAN/COM etc). Are the KKL interface cables completely compatible with the latest VAG COM version?

What are the options for an 03 Octy RS - I think Im right in saying its a non CAN interface?

    Thanks again

  3. Hi all,

Ive heard there are some problems with using USB cables with VAG Com. Is this the case or was it just with the older software. Im a bit snookered as I dont have a serial port on my Lappy so would I just be better off with the Serial cable and a USB adaptor?

    Thanks for any advice

  4. Hi all,

I have had a good search about but not turned up any threads so apologies if this has duplicated anything.

I am about to put a deposit down on a 2003 Octy vRS and was just looking for any advice before I do so. Are there any changes from model year to year that I should note? Is there anything the Octy specifically suffers from? Are there any recalls which I need to check have been done etc.

    Thanks for any advice,

    Rgds

  5. Took a trip to my local dealer and got a test drive tonight.

    VERY PLEASANTLY SUPRISED

Having owned all sorts of quick jap 4x4 cars, for 180BHP FWD I was very impressed.

Chassis and handling (from the short test drive) seemed firm, stable and very effortless.

More impressive to me was the abundance of torque from below 2000RPM if needed. I've not felt that kind of pull from those sort of revs on any car I've driven to date.

Trade in deal was better than expected as was the dealers non pushy attitude.

I reckon, for the money, the Golf/A3 dont come close, year for year, spec for spec.

But.........This is where the differerence lies and it's a shame. I spoke to my better half and the consensus was; if it was a golf/audi she would be happy for me to spend the cash and she would see it for the first time on our drive. Because it's a Skoda, she wants to drive it and give it a right good girlie inspection ;) for what thats worth !

Now that bothers me as I can see beyond the badge, many people dont.

I'm sure when she gets a good look at one she'll be as impressed as me, but what a shame that is the first impression.

Overall, I'm a happy bunny, looks like there are still some cracking bargains about on the 2nd hand market, just a shame I probably cant commit for about another 6 weeks, else I would have had his hand off :)

    Thanks for all the steers,

    Rgds
