  1. You were spot on. Used loads of warm water and now it works! Nice one
  2. Yeah thawed completely. I think she's tried using brute force and now there is very little resistance to both inner and outer handles as if something has snapped or similar.
  3. My partner has just gone to open the passenger side door but the door was frozen shut. Now the door won't open using either the interior or exterior handle. I can't find anyone with a similar issue. Does anyone know what to do? Cheers
  4. Replaced the 1.6 above with the 1.3 LX below. Bought at 70k-ish and now currently at 90k miles. Fitted coilovers, wheels and 22mm ARB from my red 1.6. Someone in a VW T5 hit this one and so I need a new NS wing. Spacers and big brakes (256mm) ready to go on. Going up near Newcastle next weekend to collect my AFH engine. Still need the 1.6 bits, should have thought ahead and got them from the 1.6 that was written off!
  5. Hi there I have got a spare one. If too far from me (Bristol) then eBay ?
  6. Uma, I have 14 inch Borbet A's on mine but I need new centre caps. Any ideas?
  7. I'll certainly take you up on the offer.
  8. Hi everyone! My written off 1.6 has been replaced with a 1.3. Still haven't located an AFH to drop into it and so I am considering other power options. I've read around and see it has been done. I'm thinking budget turbo build and was wandering if anyone knows if you can run a 5th injector setup to provide the fueling (similar to budget Mx5/eunos builds)? If anyone has any ideas, please share. Thanks!
  9. Sadly written off. Pictures to follow. On the lookout for a favorit or felly! Let me know of any about!
  10. Reconditioned mk1 mondeo calipers arrived. So all new front brakes ready to go on - just waiting for the slider bolts. Need AFH engine and straight through exhaust.
  11. I believe it is as you suggested; glazed flywheel. When the clutch was first replaced at 55k miles, I think they didn't skim the glazed flywheel. I put a new clutch in and did the same. I believe it was the flywheel at fault although on visual inspection it looked acceptable.
  12. So, gearbox replaced; flywheel skimmed; 4th clutch; new cable and (touch wood) it seems to be driving perfect!
  13. Replaced clutch cable and instantly felt nicer. Then the 5th gear whistle came back and after a large knock/grinding I was left locked in 5th gear on the motorway, forcing me to use my breakdown cover. Clutch is still working but I think I've sheared my 5th gear. What gearbox is best with the AFH? Thanks
  14. Hi everyone, I am going to attempt the windscreen repair soon as I presume it is rust around the surround lifting the seal and causing the leak. my question is can I remove the screen and refit the seal or should I smash it through and pay the £75 replacement excess? thanks
  15. I was looking at the angled edge closest to the rear tailgate glass. I think the speaker's would fit perfectly here and the angle should help acoustically.
  16. Anyway... Back onto the topic at hand, I may see if there's a way of fitting my pair of 5x7"s in the ashtrays with some serious modifying. Would look ghetto for the time being but would save cutting the parcel shelf. Still think stealth install on parcel shelf will be the most likely of options.
  17. Thanks for that. Learnt this the hard way a couple of times with various things!
  18. Big brakes still to fit. Will look at mk1 mondeo calipers instead. ARB upgraded to 22mm from a VW caddy. 5x7" speakers ready to install somewhere - probably the parcel shelf. Rear wheels require some spacers but the 20mm hubcentric ones I have are too aggressive. May look into hub spacers as I have seen done on here by another member.
  19. Further update, new cable arrived and didn't fit - correct length but wrong fittings. Mechanic adjusted as per above instructions and it slipped horrendously. He has changed it back and now it is struggling to select gears and making a horrible chattering noise! I will try and adjust it so it is at least driveable again! New cable tomorrow. Will update this as and when.
  20. I would recommend the ARB upgrade to anyone considering it. But note, the bushes on the bigger ARB were considerably better condition than the previous ones and so it may be also attributable to that. Combined with new coilovers and top mounts there is a huge improvement. Also have my old ARB if anyone wants it?
  21. I was thinking stealth install. Why would they think it was a mistake? And where else would they fit?
  22. I too thought of shallow mount fitting speakers in the ashtray in some bodgey custom manner. Will keep you updated on this. May end up reinforcing the parcel shelf and adding some 6x9s. Got two subs already so may be overkill though. Just need more mid volume.
