1.2TSI Crankcase Breather Hose One Way Valve Replacement Guide
Hi, Thanks for the guide. I rang up my local Skoda dealer who said that they didn't stock these parts (!) Has anyone ordered any genuine/OEM items recently who can recommend a seller? Thanks.

Breather pipe connection to rocker cover broken
Hi, Drove the Mrs' car to Manchester yesterday (about 40 miles) and noticed a hot oil smell when we arrived. Noticed it on the way back, too, when we stopped off for something to eat. I had a nose around the car this afternoon and found the problem (attached photo). I found this thread relating to it: I guess there are a few questions here: 1. Anyone else had this happen? The car is a 2014 year 1.2TSI 2. Should I be worried about the part of the assembly that must have fallen into the engine? I haven't noticed anything when I drained the oil but, then, I wasn't looking for anything, either. 3. I guess it is OK to drive as it is. It's only the crankcase gas re-circulation...? 3. If you have had this, and have fixed it yourself, where did you order the parts from? Thanks in advance

I need Bolero Update :-)
I think you're right I guess my question was whether the logos should update by themselves (DAB requires this, I believe) and logos not updating means there is a problem.

I need Bolero Update :-)
Hi Pab567. Thanks for the update. I've updated the unit successfully but the radio logos appear to have returned to "default", as per the graphics in the "radio station logos" zip file you can download from Skoda if you enter your VIN and location (e.g. As shown via attached logos). Previously, they appeared to have a higher resolution and the 6 Music logo was different although I just noticed that the latest BBC logo for this station has changed again. I was expecting the logos to be updated after listening to the [DAB] station for a few minutes but this doesn't appear to have occurred, even after I factory reset the "radio." Is there something else I need to do?

A TSB from Skoda on cold start behaviour with 1.2 TSI's. Something that Dealership Employees should be able to explain to customers.
Think I've commented on this subject before but this is definitely a thing on my 4 cyl 16V 1.2TSI. I did ask the dealer about it as I thought the plugs were knackered etc but they said it was normal without explaining further.

Engine type not shown in user manual...
I changed the oil on my 2017 1.2 TSI on Saturday but downloaded the manual during the process, just to double check a few things. I put my VIN number into the Skoda website, downloaded the manual and saw that the engine in the car isn't even listed in the manual. It appears that the 1.0 was present in 2017. If I download the 2016 manual, this does list the 1.2 TSI.... So, I could maybe understand that my car might be a 2016 model registered in 2017 but why would the VIN number turn up the incorrect manual? I put some 5W30 Castrol Edge Titanium LL in it along with a Mahle filter so I presume it's now good for another 8-10k miles. It was the first time I'd changed the oil on it and I found it pretty easy. Almost as easy as the 1.2 8V TSI although there's a lot to be said for having the oil filter at the top of the engine! It was also MOT'd. It appeared that the advisory on suspension bushes written up last year (when it was MOT'd at the Skoda main dealer) miraculously fixed itself for the MOT this time around. The mechanic I normally use checked them out beforehand and said there was nothing wrong with them, which was then confirmed by the MOT test station. It makes me wonder about what these main dealers get up to....

Fabia 3 2017 1.2 TSI 4 cyl cambelt question
Thanks for the responses. I think I'll wait until next year to have it inspected/changed based upon what I've read. I find it odd that there's so much conflicting information on this subject. The engine is used in a number of applications; you'd think there would be some consistency!

Fabia 3 2017 1.2 TSI 4 cyl cambelt question
Hi all, I think I've read previously that the cambelt on this engine should be changed every 5 years (mine is 5 years old this time around and has done about 46,000 miles) but I've also read that it should be inspected at this time. I guess some questions are (sorry for the long list!) a. What would a Skoda dealer be expected to do at this 5 year point? Would they always change it? b. What is reasonable to do without running undue risk of a cambelt failure? c. What is actually involved in checking the belt? Is this turning the engine over looking for cracks/splits/damage to the belt or is it more subtle than this? d. Is it as much faff to check the belt as it is to change it? e. What is a reasonable approximate time and cost to change the belt (dealer and independent) ? f. What replacement belts are recommended? Gates or ?? g. Should anything else be done at the same time? e.g. Is the water pump driven off the same belt? h. Anything I haven't thought of? I had a Focus for about 9 years (it had done about 60,000) previous to this car and it wasn't necessary to change the belt in this time so I'm just wondering whether the 5 year change is required or a money-making wheeze by VAG. Thanks in advance.

High level brake light problem
Thanks for the replies and the guide - it's very much appreciated. I do have the technical skills to repair it - I can solder etc, so I'll take a look at repairing it. I didn't notice whether it was LED or filament but it looked like there were small "domes" that could have been LED or bulb...it was tricky to see, though. I wondered what the removable plug was - I shone a torch in there but didn't see much to go at. I'll take another look tomorrow. I'll let you know how I get on...!

High level brake light problem
Hi, I think I mentioned that, at the last MOT, the car passed with an advisory on the high level brake light. In typical fashion, I meant to get around to it, but the MOT is up again in a month. I took a look at it this evening and it seems that it might be water ingress that has killed it as I was expecting an entire, sealed unit that popped out of the enclosure but it appears that the unit has separated. Maybe this is normal? It might not be easy to see but the face that is exposed to the weather can almost be removed from the back part that contains the LEDs. On the left hand side, it took little effort to pull the unit apart but it wasn't great all along it. In the middle appears to be a bent metal tab which I thought might be the retaining clip. At the far right, the unit separates easily again. From looking into the left hand side, what I imagine to be the seal is intact but inside the unit along, presumably, with some nice water and general grime. Is this how the unit comes apart? Is it easy to replace if I start to take things further? Can anyone recommend a source of a good replacement part? Thanks

Brake pad options?
Thanks for all the replies. How do I know if this model (SE) has a brake wear indicator? Would it illuminate on the dash at ignition on?

Brake pad options?
The '14 1.2tsi combi needs some front pads as they passed MOT with an advisory. They're original and have done about 56k I tried to buy some but there were two options. Can anyone please explain which type these are/recommended pads? I'd normally buy a known brand such as brembo or GKN (Do ferodo still manufacture in the UK?) Thanks for any assistance

Airbag error
I'm not averse to a soldering iron but don't really fancy a DIY repair on a safety critical component. I'll assess the damage that the dealer wants. Thanks for help

Airbag error
Is this a dealer repair job or something I could do? Any idea on the cost of the part? I read elsewhere that the repair was ~Β£160 but I don't know if this was a dealer figure.

Airbag error
Just read elsewhere on here that it may be a clock spring problem. Are they common? It did sound like something getting mangled inside the wheel when it happened

Airbag error
Hi, Had this error come up today. I noticed that there was a bit of a scratching noise when steering (coming from the airbag cover) the other day but it seemed to go away by itself. Reversing in a car park today, I steered to full extent and heard a creakin/scraping noise from the steering column again but it was more pronounced. Then, the "airbag error" came onto the dash. Key cycled a few times and it's still there. Has some wiring/contacts been damaged? Any recommendations? It's in for major (4th) service + MOT on the 18th Nov with the Skoda dealer. Thanks in advance

MOT advisories (high level brake light, park brake) advice sought
This link https://mattersoftesting.blog.gov.uk/your-questions-answered-should-i-be-failing-defective-stop-lamps/ Says this Before failing an additional stop lamp for not working, you must be able to prove - without dismantling - that the lamp is complete and the wiring to the lamp is connected. The manual states that: βWhere extra lamps are fitted and there is doubt as to whether they are connected, the benefit of this doubt should be given to the presenter.β Seems that it is down to interpretation. For an OEM fitment, I'd have erred on it being connected. They know me well at the dealer so maybe they were lenient π€π

MOT advisories (high level brake light, park brake) advice sought
It was a local Ford dealer's MOT station. Advisory states that third brake light is non obligatory. I must admit that it seemed odd - if it is required to be there, I'd imagine that it would be required to be working, too.

MOT advisories (high level brake light, park brake) advice sought
Mrs took the MK2 combi for an MOT today. The good news was that it passed again. The bad news were a couple of advisories. First up, the high level brake light is not working. I've had a nose around on the internet and it seems difficult to replace. Through the hole, I can see a small, white plastic clip that doesn't look like it'd take much to snap off. Does this need pushing one way to release it? I also took a look at the wiring rubber boot but I didn't find a way of releasing it. Are there any guides for these? Second item was that the park brake efficiency was "only just met." I had the hand brake adjusted a couple of years ago but it seems to come up quite a way again. The MOT tester said that it was a problem on Fabia models. Is the cable stretching or is it something else? Also needs new brake pads, which I knew anyway. I think the ones on are original and it's done 56k.. Thanks for any advice.

Sill protective coating repair (?)
To be honest, there's nothing really loose there. When it's dry, I'll probably spray it with the stone chip then put some underseal over it.
-
Sill protective coating repair (?)
Any recommendations for an underseal brand? Would prefer it to not to be obvious that it's been repaired there so I guess brush on would be best to keep the area covered (presumably be black against silver black) down?

Sill protective coating repair (?)
Hello Caught the sill dropping off a high kerb today. Doh. What's the best approach to repairing this, please? Cheers
