  1. thanks 18's by 8.5 all round. It's a daily driver, so didn't want to go 9.5 rears with massive drop and big camber. They fill the arches spot on as they are.
  2. Car's gone in today, mainly for prep work..... All lights off, trim removed, rear spoiler removed, bumpers off etc, etc.... I'm not allowed to see it till it's complete, but apparently some tricky/fiddly bit's like the door handles and mirrors have been done today excited now, full pic's when done :peek:
  3. I'll post some much better pic's on Friday, get the car back on Wednesday evening but working away Thursday
  4. I've got the KW's and the new wheels on, set the KW's a touch higher than I'd ideally like as I think they'll settle a touch. Also, the car is a daily driver, so needs to be sensible for country lanes etc. Handles much better I know loads will hate it, but I don't care Colour change this week
  5. Afternoon all, bought some wheels on a bit of a whim as I knew they'd worked on a lowered MK5 Golf, so thought I'd take a chance I'm keeping the banana mobile for another year now, regardless of what happens on the redundancy side, so thought I'd freshen it up a bit. I've got a set of KW INOX coilovers to go on and will probably lower by 45-50mm all round (so not stupid low, but not just 'springs' type reduction either) Anyway, is anyone running 19 x 8.5 et 35 on an octy??? I'd also be tempted to go up to 225, or 235 tyres if they'd fit Any ideas from you big wheel geniuses?
  6. Well, I've had the chance to do a lot of thinking..... and I've decided to keep the car for another year regardless. The extra fuel costs over a diesel are only about £500 for a year with the sort of mileage I'll be doing, so it makes sense to keep it for a while. So, I'm going to press on and get it wrapped anyway, as I can have it removed when I come to sell the car. Thanks for the input
  7. I'd say you've got a very good chance of having problems at the front... I run 215/35/19 on 8x19 et 44. So you'll be an extra 12mm out towards the arch with the rim, then an extra 10mm again with the tyre - 22mm in total. Based on the way mine sit in the arches, I'd say you'll definitely foul with an extra 22mm of poke - Sorry buddy :(
  8. Sort of!! ............... I was expecting redundancy around September, but following announcements last week I should find out my fate on 4th March. (99% certain to go though) I was going to wrap it and lower it on a brand new set of KW INOX Variant 1 coilovers and then enjoy it for the summer/Autumn - but this now seems a bit pointless, when in all probability I'll need to start doing big miles again 6 months earlier than expected : ( It's not all doom and gloom, as if I get a new job quickly I'll have a nice financial cushion and probably buy a new car anyway (well, nearly new) but it will be a diesel. I started another thread, basically asking peoples views on whether they thought it would sell easier 'Yellow' or 'Wrapped' and the majority vote was 'leave yellow' I don't want to do anything that'll make it harder to sell, so I may advertise it on here saying... 'with the option of a free body wrap in a colour of your choice'
  9. Ok, listed these before but now cheaper as the Mrs has touched a couple of wheels against kerbs. Nothing terrible, but would benefit from a minor refurb on the very outer rim to make perfect. They've done very few miles, so still well in excess of 5mm on all tyres. No dent's, buckles, cracks or anything nasty. Current pics; Sorry about the pic's, but it was raining (a lot!) looking for £700 collected from Bristol (5 mins from M4/M5) thanks for looking
  10. Ok, so 80% on the poll say leave it as it is. On that basis, I guess more people would be interested in buying an 'un-wrapped' Yellow car, than a wrapped 'different' colour car. It's not about hiding anything, it's just that I still have the option of having the car wrapped for free, so thought it might be easier to sell in a different colour. I would obviously take pre/post wrapping photo's and would make it very clear in the advert that it is a wrapped yellow car. It's in very nice condition for a 6 year old car, as the previous owner would confirm
  11. I have thought about doing this, but fear it could be a load of hassle. Unless the buyer paid up front before the car was wrapped, I could get all sorts of prob's if they didn't like it once done. I was thinking about matt grey metallic as it's a bit of a 'now' colour, and the car is now at the price point where it's affordable to younger buyers.
  12. Okay, long story short, I have a yellow 2006 Mk II Vrs Petrol in great condition, bought it from a fellow forum member towards the end of last year knowing it was a temporary car. Redundancy has been brought forward by about 6 months so car will be in the classifieds around the 4th March (as that's when I'm expecting my 'at risk' confirmation) - basically much sooner than expected : ( This is not a for sale add, I am a paid up member and will advertise nearer the time. I can get the car wrapped for free in March, so, do you think it would sell easier wrapped in a different colour, as yellow is an acquired taste for a MkII and I think it might take a while to sell 'as is' what do you think ???
  13. The more I look at this, the more i think with my CK's in anthracite, no stripe down the side and the grill/mirrors in black .....could be a winner
  14. I do like it, but it's been done already by you so I want something different How easy it is to maintain the matt finish? what products do you use on it ? Cheers.
  15. He-He-He,... you would, it's your old car But the chance of a free complete wrap is too good to turn down
  16. A top quality job with good quality material, including inside the door shuts, on a car the size of the octavia would be circa £1300 - £1500 at a guess. So not cheap
  17. I'm starting to think the VRS+ colour with my 19'' BBS refurbed in light antracite, dropped on the KW V1 Inox coilovers I've just bagged might be the the way to go here's how it looks now -
  18. I'm not worried about the quality of the application, as the guys doing it represent the manufacturer of the material. The people present during the wrap will have paid £350 each to be there, as it's a course/demonstration on the best/correct ways to apply the material. I'm expecting the door shuts to be done, but not in the engine bay. I take on board the comments re the impact on the value of the car, But in this case the demand for the base colour of the car is very limited being Yellow. So with this in mind I'm not so sure it will devalue the car tbh, especially as it's now at the affordable end of the performance car market for the 'young-uns' In any case, I can have the wrap removed professionally for £100 at any time in the future so it's not a big issue really.
  19. This colour (or one extremely close) is in my 'swatch' book, and I have to admit it is on my list
  20. Put me down for Club stand only please, have pm'd you my details. will be in a fully 'wrapped' MkII Octy Vrs, colour as yet to be decided :peek:
  21. cos; 1) it's free 2) my job will be changing - which means I will need to visit clients at home again, and it's a bit 'in your face' as it is. 3) I've seem some fantastic results from wrapping 4) I fancy something totally unique 5) .....did I mention it was free ??
