  1. My DPF pressure sensor has failed, and yes its the 'made in US' part. I can't be bothered with pandering to the needs of DPF regens etc, so Clive at CNTuning is taking the car in for me next week, doing a 'DPF-Gut' and upgrading me from Shark stage 1 to Shark stage 2 - not sure about the peak power and torque increase, but it's supposed to give very good gains across the entire rev range, so really looking forward to this. maybe this is not everyone's idea of the 'Logical' solution, but it is mine He's also going to be doing my Cambelt and Water pump, a long-life 'Major' service and fitting my KW Inox coilover kit with a full Geo set up - he'll be busy:) Really excited about getting the car back and seeing it sat down properly over the 19'' black edition BBS CH's it's wearing, will post a few pic's in the 'doing it right' thread when done. Bit of a pointless post I know, but bored WFW - (waiting for wife!)
  2. Thanks, we're just going to be looking for a fair price for a reasonably speedy sale. I'm really not up on TT pricing, so will do a bit of research, clean it properly, MOT it as it's out sometime in August (so will come with a new one) etc. Just wanted to get a quick 'heads up' post before I get organised with it.
  3. This is my father in laws car, and I am listing it for him as he is too ill to be able to do it himself. Unfortunately he has pancreatic cancer and, sadly, no longer needs this vehicle. In addition, there is no one in the family that could use it as we all have children and it's only a two seater. I have the car in my possession, but need to give it a proper detail before taking photo's. Initial thoughts are that it's a very clean and straight car, it has a couple of minor car park dinks (paint not broken - easy dent master fix) and the wheels could do with a referb (not Kerbed though). It is one of last of the old shape cars and is in very good condition. Interior is cloth, not leather. Now MOT'd to 22 September 2014 Car is now SORN. car was registered new to its first owner (private individual not a company) on 26/04/2006 and he bought it as an 'approved used car' from an Audi Main dealer on 05/09/2007 with only 1948 miles on the clock. Serviced book stamped by Audi as Follows; 25/07/2007 - 1,924 Miles (Long Life Service) 01/05/2008 - 4,658 Miles (additional Work) 21/08/2008 - 5,885 Miles (Long Life Service) 12/11/2009 - 13,137 Miles (Long Life Service) 23/04/2011 - 20,869 Miles (Long Life Service) 12/03/2013 - 28,890 Miles (Long Life Service) - This service was by an independent Garage. I can't find any evidence that the Cambelt has been changed at this point, but will confirm either way. Current Mileage is - 29,770. Now Have this on Ebay at £6,495 'or best offer' ..... but if you know anyone looking for a really nice, clean TT, please point them in the direction of this thread - We'll accept £6,000 for a quick, painless sale which I honestly think is a great bargain for someone Also, rear perking sensors now professionaly 'flush fitted' and colour coded - looks 1000% better!!!! will update with pic's later on. Also, collected a very nicely referbed set of standard 17'' TT alloys yesterday - May now be available separately!!, will start a new thread if appropriate This is the 1.8t 163 Bhp model. click photo for bigger image Many thanks for looking. MORE PHOTO'S IN A LATER POST !!!
  4. Hi, is it hpi clear, sorry if I missed that in the add! what's the interior like? any pic's of the body work damage, especially the parking dings - are we talking 2 or 3 or into double figures? many thanks
  5. many thanks for all the input, much appreciated. I was asking the question re the engine, but it won't actually be in a Fabia (Don't flame me, I drive an Octavia Vrs myself!) as I knew I'd get lots of input here!! Been looking at Audi A1's for the wife, and was just about to put a deposit down on a 1.4tfsi competition edition (without all the stickers!) Via a main dealer, when a Sportback (5 door rather than 3 door) pops up as a private sale. As we have 2 young children, the 5 door is a much better purchase, but the wife has been putting them in the back of a BMW coupe for the last 8 months, so the 3 door would have been ok. Having now driven both the 1.4 tfsi and the 1.6tdi A1, I can honestly say that the TFSI would be my first choice, all other things being equal..... .....unfortunately, all other things are not equal  The 5 door private purchase, is 6 months newer (so six months extra warranty) comes with five years paid servicing (just a year old now, so four more years to go), has zero road tax vs £105pa for the TFSI, is higher spec, has the two extra doors and is literally in showroom condition with under 6k on the clock... oh and it's cheaper! Ideally, I'd like to walk into Skoda and order her a new Fabia Vrs, but she doesn't like them unfortunately!
  6. Ok, so typically she'll do 3 miles each way to work, some of which is stop start traffic. However, at weekends the car would be used to do longer journeys, as I'd give my octavia a 'rest' to equalise the mileage across both cars a bit. when I say longer journeys, I'm talking 20 miles or so in each direction on the motorway. Also, there'd be nothing to stop me using her car once a week to do a longer trip still.
  7. I know that's the logic, but i thought I'd read somewhere that the new common rail engines were much kinder to DPF's than the old PD units, .... something about how they are 'designed' to work with a DPF but the PD was designed pre 'DPF' and then DPF bolted on later? Might be rubbish, I'm not sure ?
  8. Hi< I know logic says a small engined petrol engined car would make more sense, but is the 1.6 common rail 'dpf friendly' if used as a town car? anyone got any experience please? many thanks.
  9. Hi, any previous owners or have you had it from new? is it free from the high oil consumption issue? is it hpi clear? any accident repairs or paintwork? many thanks.
  10. Per my pm, they are yours if you want them. Should have more regular Internet access from tommorow. Will give full address when I return to the uk next Monday.
  11. What's the problem buddy? people don't always check in the classifieds, and someone looking for these wheels is highly likely to have an octavia II ??
  12. I'm in for the club stand only, on hols for a week from tomorrow though, so may run out of time to pay before I go
  13. Have a look at my for sale thread in the classifieds..... http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/276864-4-x-18-neptunes-in-excellent-condition-with-very-good-tires-5-x-112/ Cheers
  14. Pic's I'll let the photo's speak for themselves The first photo show's the one with the touched in stone chip.
  15. Ok, so everyone knows what these are, standard on Octavia Vrs face lift, 18's and the tires have loads of tread. Will try and find my tread depth gauge, but probably 6mm front and rear and totally even wear. no puncture repairs or damage at all. I know of a set that went on Ebay recently for £500 + P&P, so that seems as good a place to start as any. As the photo's show, they are in excellent condition, bar one stone chip which has been touched in. I'm away on holiday for a week from Sunday, so will have limited site access - the wheels will therefore not be available until the week of 3rd June. Thanks for looking PS) these are from (and currently on) my own car, but I fancy a change. Just to add I'm based in Bristol, for collection. Taking IPad on hols and hotel has wifi so will check back in, feel free to pm etc.
  16. Hi, I have a 59 plate Octavia Vrs and ideally I'd like to upgrade to a head unit with on-board 7 digit Satnav. The obvious choice is to go for a Columbus to replace my Bolero, but I have a few questions if anyone can help please? Q1) Is there going to be any major difference (other than age) between a 2008 built unit and a 2011/12 built unit - assuming the 2008 has been successfully updated to the most recent firmware and maps? reason I ask this question is I can get a fully updated 2008 unit for £360+p&p or a 2012 unit from a very well rated uk based Ebay seller for circa £440 inc p&p) Q2) is there a noticeable difference between the quality/reliability of the LED/LCD versions of the unit? Probably obvious why I'm asking that question!! Q2) how good is the sound quality on the Columbus and will this differ between an older and newer model? The reason I ask is I haven't completely ruled out an aftermarket head unit with onboard blue-tooth, phone Book etc. many thanks in advance
  17. Has this gone yet ? If not, PM me your best delivered price and I'll give you a yes or no. Cheers.
  18. Ok, yes was intending to list it on here as I'm keeping the new car for a few years, so don't see the point in keeping the Bolero in reserve. assuming my offer is accepted of course !
  19. Ok, if this is a simple swap over with my bolero (ie no coding required and plugs straight in with the bit's supplied), and I won't lose any functionality and I'll gain the direction arrows etc on the Maxi-dot then I'll go to £350 posted (I'm in Bristol) Let me know, bit busy until later this afternoon, but payment by Bank Transfer to avoid any paypal costs etc. Cheers. My car is a face lift 59 plate VRS CRD if that makes any difference.
  20. I'd be very interested in this IF it was loaded with the firmware that offers full 7 digit and it was a straight swap over with my bolero.
  21. Not got your PM? But no worries, I'll PM you my mobile number.
