  1. But my Greenline has a sticker inside the fuel filler cap specifically saying Bio Diesel MUST NOT be used. Just how much modification would be needed?
  2. OK, award won outright for a succession of posts, all of which hint at conspiracy theories. Congratulations!
  3. And today's prize for the initiaton of conspirancy theories goes to............................................................................................................................................guess who?
  4. Too many supposed "experts" contributing. In the course of my work I have come across two definitions of an "expert" An expert is someone who knows more and more about less and less, and ends up knowing absolutely everything about f*** all. An "ex" is a has-been, and a "spert" is a drip under pressure. Take your choice from the above, and remember that in the courts only an "expert" can give opinion evidence, everyone else is restricted to factual evidence.
  5. Hmmmm..........................Have to think of another drip feed oil burner I suppose.
  6. The wife wanted me to talk dirty to her - so I whispered into her ear "Volkswagen Diesel"
  7. No one has addressed my original query about mpg figures getting better when the engine gets to 3 years old, (about 36,000 miles), so i gather no one has noticed this with a Superb?
  8. OK Lee. But for a simple mind like mine, (someone who likes driving cars, but whose technical knowledge dates back to distributors and cross ply tyres), will a simple remap have any effect on acceleration and fuel economy. After all, it was the fuel consumption and low VED that were major considerations in buying my Greenline. All this talk of "remaps" confuses me. I spent 40 years surveying proper maps for Ordnance Survey. I never realised there was a map in my Skoda engine!! (In built SatNav??)
  9. Of course, Columbus was the most economical motorist ever. 20,000 miles to the galleon,
  10. Ah, yes, but I am talking about my Austin 1100 in 1971, 44 years ago, and my VW1600TA was 1978, 37 years ago. I had a Montego TD estate in 1991 that did well over 50mpg.
  11. For information of all. My Superb Greenline III, first registered December 2013, is affected according to the VIN checker. Note that below the checker are boxes to enter your details to send to Skoda. I don't know whether this will result in them contacting affected owners sooner, but I've tried it in hope!
  12. My previous two Skodas, (both 1.9TDI Octavias, first Ambience spec, 2nd Elegance spec), both seemed to get more economical (mpg wise) once they got to three years old. Has anyone noticed any similar effect with Superbs? My 63 reg Superb is currently recording 63mpg overall on the computer, (yes, I know that may not be all that accurate, but I can't be arsed to go to the bother of working it out more accurately). Odd trips it's recording up to 74mpg. I'm impressed by all that since it's a large car. I think back to my VW 1600TA days when 33mpg was all I could get, no matter how economically I drove. Prior to that it was an Austin 1100 doing similar mpg.
  13. Ahh! I look on my Skoda as a means of getting from A to B in a reasonable state of comfort and economy. If I had to work on it it I would consider it a poor investment.
  14. How on earth does anyone find the time to post 20,808 times? I've got a life to live away from my beloved Skoda!
  15. Illuminating! But still waiting for a definitive list of affected vehicles. On with the motley!
  16. Interesting that the Skoda recall checker includes the footnote; "No responsibility is taken for the correctness of the information."
  17. But my Superb Greenline III, (first reg January 2014), doesn't show up as being recalled on the checker. Up to now I had resigned myself to the fact that it was one of the affected vehicles. There may be some light at the end of the tunnel for me?
  18. Anyone know whether Skodas are affected by the false emissions stats? In particular Skoda Superb Greenline III.
  19. Greenline III hatch. Melton Mowbray to Nottingham this morning 70mpg. Overall is showing 63mpg Very happy with that!
  20. Today I was navigating my way home and the Map froze. The Columbus screen only showed my start position, but the rest of the SatNav kept working, dash showed instructions correctly and the voice continued to give the correct directions. Fnally managed to un-freeze the map by setting it to "Destination View" and then back stepping to the map. Anyone else had this?
  21. It's under the fuel filler cap and is the small hole to the bottom right of the fuel filler cap, just a small hole about 1mm in diameter. It is a black plastic plug attached to a plastic pipe which drains spilt fuel and rainwater away from the filler cap and down the back of the wheel arch.
