  1. Thanks for getting in touch. Racking my brains. Wonder if it is starter motor. All lights work. Battery is ok. Why the brake pedal solid? Hmm. That worries me.
  2. Hi everyone, Bought a Fabia estate DSG 2 weeks ago. 400 miles on the clock. Has kessy. Press once to turn on ignition. That works. Press again to start. Nope. Brake pedal hard as a rock. Am sitting in the car waiting for skoda assistance to sort it out. How they will move the car whilst stuck in park is a good one. Any suggestions? It's been a week since i last drove it i think. Very disappointing.
  3. Hi everyone, As a Brit abroad, I will pick up my new car this week. It's my 3rd Skoda. My first one was a 2012 Octavia TDi, 2.0 with 108bhp Then a 2018 Citigo 5-door with 59 bhp. Both great cars. I almost bought a new Fabia Mk.4, but here in Poland they are so expensive. I know it's bigger, quieter and more comfortable. But I can't afford one. So I chose a Mk3 Fabia. The estate is still being made, so I ordered an estate with the 95bhp TSI engine, mated to a DSG 7-speed. Never had an auto before, so I like trying something new. As a run-out model, it has everything; heated seats, heated washers, automatic aircon, rear camera, Bluetooth, Android auto etc and the 2-spoke leather multi-function steering wheel. That's enough for me. No LED lights, but you can't have everything. Compared to the Citigo it should be a bit faster and a bit better on the motorway. Safe motoring:)
  4. Hi everyone, It's about 6 years since I last wrote on this website. I have had 2 Skodas, an Octavia II 2.0 tdi from 2012 (6-speed manual), and now I have a 2018 Citigo, 60bhp 5-door in white. Quite a change. I love the Citigo. But after 3 years I have paid for it and want something a bit more luxurious and faster. So Fabia time. Thing is, I really fancy a DSG. Are they reliable? I will be half city driving, half open road. Just want something nice. Probably will be my last car. Well, petrol car anyway. I was in the dealer today, tried to get me to add all these bells and whistles but I said 'no' about 30 times until he gave up. I just want a Style version with the DSG transmission. I have never owned an automatic before. I tried to buy a Fabia III estate with the DSG but there are not any for sale where I live (I live on the continent). So it's a Fabia Mk.4. Does anyone here really praise the manual , too? The manual on my other Skodas was / is fine. Yours, Steve
  5. Hello everyone, I'd like to buy a run-out Fabia Mk 3 before the new model arrives, so hopefully I can nab a 2021 model with a few extra toys towards the end of the summer. I fancy a 7-speed DSG box this time mated to the 95 bhp engine. Could you tell me how it is compared to the manual 5-speed, and what revs is it doing at 70 and 80 mph? Thanks for your help, Steve
  6. ok so here goes. I have a facelifted (post 2017) Citigo but it 'only' has the Blues radio. It only has an FM radio, too, which hacks me off, as I also like to listen to BBC 5live (this is actually possible with a good signal in the evenings, even in Poland!) Nothing I can do about that, is there? Anyway, can I listen to the internet radio from my Android phone whilst I am driving? I mean can I listen to BBC sounds app instead of boring Polish FM stations? Do I need some special cable from the USB port to the round hole in the fascia of the radio unit? I rather suspect that I have such a basic car that this is impossible, and should have bought a better car with the SWING radio. Anyone with any help or advice? I would be most grateful. Steve, Wroclaw, Poland
  7. Hello everyone, I don't really want to start a new thread but I can't find a place on the site where I can ask for parts. I am looking for a set of mint set of 15 inch Auriga alloys with or without tyres, for the Citigo. If anyone is selling a set please let me know. As you can see from my ID I live outside the UK but I'll be back home in July for a few months with my Citigo. Safe driving, Steve
  8. Glad we are back on topic. I bought a new Citigo in October 2018. Let's say I keep it for four years, until 2022. I wonder if there will be an E-Citigo that I could afford then, a new one. I also wonder if it will do 186 miles. I doubt it. As you say, with the lights and heating and radio on, it will do less than that. Mind you I only drive in and around the city and outside (30 mile journeys). Should be perfect in theory. At least the acceleration should be better than 14.4 seconds! I will not pass judgement until it is released, end of this year? Perhaps we will be surprised, it might have a larger range. Battery range. That's the key for me. I fear that only when oil and gas are really running out (God knows when - 100 years from now?) then manufacturers will get serious.
  9. Hello everyone, I bought a new Citigo in October 2018. I discovered only after delivery that it has no AM radio and only FM. I live on the continent and where I live there is I guess no call for AM radio, unlike the UK. I had a VW Up! and that had AM radio... Do you think it would be possible for a UK dealer to fiddle about with it and make it AM, too? It's a radio BLUES, fitted to a standard 60bhp version. I'll be in England with my Citigo in the summer so wanted a bit of advice, first from all you knowledgeable Citigo owners:) Best, Steve
  10. Hello, I bought a new Citigo last week. It's radio is giving me the blues, sorry for the awful pun. I can just about learn how to store some stations and do the bass and treble etc and the TP. But does the BLues radio have AM??? Or am I so out of date? Yes of course I had a look at the owner's manual but I would prefer a hands-on suggestion i.e., a step-by-step guide for idiots. By the way it is an Ambition model in white, 60 bhp and much much better than my 2016 Up. Never again a VW. Compared to my Up, this Citigo has an onboard computer, an umbrella, LED lights, better brakes, slicker gearchange, it is quieter and handles better, nice and soft supple suspension, and it seems more easily able to handle 70mph. That's my imagination. Wow, what a car! Best, Steve Wroclaw, Poland
  11. Hi everyone, I got a letter like some of you regarding my 2.0 tdi CR engine from Skoda after they or rather VW admitted cheating on the emissions. I did nothing about it. But last week I had my 40000 mile service and my fuel economy is worse now. Do you think they did something to the engine software on instructions from VW? I mean, have they made everything 'accurate' now instead of lying before? Any help appreciated. Thanks, Steve
  12. I am a bit confused by the servicing schedules. I've got a 2012 2.0tdi Common Rail, with 110bhp. I've just done 39000 miles so here in Poland it should be every 30000kms or 20000miles I guess. Or every two years. I know in the first service all they did was check the car over and replace the oil and filter. What more will the dealer do at the second service? The service book is in Polish so I don't understand all that much! Best regards, Steve
  13. Hi everyone, I wrote on 22/11 about the calcium and lime deposits on my car, which I have successfully eliminated with white vinegar. But, on my bonnet, from a much earlier time, I have hard, grey 'splats' of grey paint. It looks like primer. When I move my hand across the bonnet I can feel the smoothness interrupted by these unsightly grey things. I must have parked near someone blasting or spraying, or near a railway line. It's so annoying. How can I get rid of them? Could I dissolve them? Or is the best option to go to a professional? I think they may have to use a 'machine' to buff them off. Right now it seems like a razor blade is the only option, which I am loathe to do, as one false move and I could scratch the black paintwork. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks, Steve
  14. Fixed it! In 15 minutes, with a 50p bottle of pure white vinegar! I just dabbed it on, left it for a few minutes and then washed it off. Completely disappeared and no damage of course to the paintwork. Sometimes it pays to trawl the net and youtube to see if anyone has a solution. Phew!
  15. A month on from the light coming on I haven't had any problems. So I've learnt my lesson. As one poster has said, perhaps it would be better to buy a petrol car next time. So yes, I may buy a Citigo, which would be great around the city and on short trips out, but I wonder about the motorway and driving to England in a Citigo! I would be loathe to sell my Octavia. Let's see in one year.
