  1. Right then guys update day (which was technically yesterday but i'm on nights so. . . yeh) Car went in to get the Air con looked at. I'll be brutally honest, i was expecting them to fob me off and say no fault found. But long story short - The condenser unit has failed/is leaking. So that should be getting sorted under the warranty and i await their call. So naturally i'm a bit more chipper as that's getting sorted and yesterday was no cost to me. They did a good clean up of the car for me as well so i took some snaps which i'll upload in a sec. To make a short story long however. . . (Don't read if you're not too interested in the full story) The person that was dealing with me at Robert Eardleys was the manager of the service dept (Andy is the only bit as the two people that work on the desks (whom i've had all my previous dealings and as a result, issues with). The two said people had called in sick. So i've raised my issues with him regarding the previous incidents with them so he'll be having a word with them two. I have to admit i was really impressed with how he handled everything, and it was actually a worthwhile experience from Skoda for a change! Baring in mind i went in there asking all sorts of questions as i wasn't prepared to hand my keys over if i wasn't going to get fobbed off again, but he took everything on board, didn't fob me off, did everything he could to help me and even did me a little favour by re-securing my rear number plate as it had come loose on the left hand side. Which i know isn't a lot for them by any stretch of the imagination, but they didn't have to either. Besides there was absolutely no attitude from him either as there shouldn't be i know, but with the usual 2 there is shed loads of attitude, they seriously need a kick up the arse about customer service. Anyway it's nice to be typing out a more positive review, naturally i'm not out of the woods just yet and i've still got the oil to monitor but hopefully now making progress. Oh and when i've checked the exhaust since, there's been no liquid coming out. . . maybe i got my wires crossed somewhere, but it's a relief.
  2. If it helps any further, it wasn't a great deal of liquid, probably a bit like if someone spat on the ground, if that. But still, i'm not sure if it's something i need to be keeping an eye on or just normal once again.
  3. It has blasted soot a few times, and after you pointed out it was normal so i've payed it no mind. But as i say there was some liquid on the ground from when i'd revved it at a standstill after a run. I'd driven it for 20 mins beforehand and had also given it a thorough kick up the a**e so it's not like it was build up in the exhaust that just needed me to rev it after it had been stood for a while or had been driven like an old person (i hate that expression, i've seen some old people go pretty fast!). I'll give it a test again if i get a chance later (at work again). But naturally i'm open to all advise and suggestions to the matter.
  4. Aup, glad the cars back and seems to be up to a satisfactory level. Whilst it seems somewhat pessimistic, yep it would appear that no garage seems to offer a service to everyones level. Naturally different strokes for different folks with some services but a lot of garages just taking everyone for a ride as well. . . I'm sure there would be people that flocked from far and wide if one such perfect garage existed, i'd be tempted myself! On a seperate note. . . When i pulled up the other day, i revved my engine as a bit of a laugh (was winding the missus up). After i got out of the car, i'd noticed it seemed to of spat oil out of the tailpipe. Now before the questions come rolling in. . . . no i cannot CONFIRM it was oil. I've not looked at it since purely because i've not had the time and today is the first day i've driven since. It was starting to get dark and i wasn't at home either so i couldn't exactly stick around to investigate further at the time either. Does anyone have any thoughts/advice on this? What to investigate/check? I'll naturally scout the forums but if anyone could point me in the right direction on here then that would be great. Especially seeing as the car is going in on Monday next week so i can point it out to them as well without them shrugging it off. . .
  5. Sounds nice, early 30 mins heads up they gave you that you wouldn't get your car back (sarcasm if it's not readable). Sorry to hear you're getting messed about. Hope you've got your car back now and all is ok with it?
  6. No problems - not necessarily hijacking, i can't update until beginning of November really anyway. Hope all goes well - as previously stated, let us know how you get on.
  7. Aup guys, don't really have any chance to add anyone at the moment as i'm at work but i have an Xbox one and am looking for buddies to play online with as i have none! GT: Godbomb2908
  8. I'll have my fingers crossed for you. Let us know how you get on with them.
  9. That's fair enough i don't blame you whatsoever - maybe a different garage/dealership for any further work eg. services for in the future then? I think i'll be going specialist independent once my warranty is up at the very least.
  10. That's ace - cheers for that i'll make sure i do give that a try and as said before i'm now going to start checking daily. Whilst it is unknown as to what the level was when the light showed - i am still very skeptical to what Robert Eardley's have said about the oil consumption. I wasn't offered one at the time (but then again the service department had taken it upon themselves to go home leaving me in the lurch) - but i'm guessing they should have the paperwork regarding my oil consumption test - so i will endeavour to get myself a copy to look it over - as i've seen you advise others on this forum.
  11. Gutted to hear about that it really is shocking that this day and age stuff like that continues. Unfortunately i was quite ignorant to it before i came here - but it truly has opened my eyes. I hope that was the only thing they overlooked for you - but if not, make sure you pin them to the wall for it. But yep - my trust has seriously shattered, i've heard horror stories but i did seriously expect a lot better from Skoda/VAG.
  12. Jeez - so it's almost anyones guess then really if the light is so inconsistent. As i said when i checked it (as soon as the check oil flashed onto the display) the oil was just below the hatched area - it was still on the orange ball and over it on the dipstick. But that was cold. So does that mean i still had around 2 litres of oil in the engine? Sorry to keep asking i'm just trying to get a rough idea of what capacity its at at the minimum mark of the hatched area, presuming it is actually 3.6 litres at the max mark.
  13. Jebus! What are they playing at when they can't even put correct pressures in the tyres!? Was yours the same or a different garage? Have you got a VRS as well? I hope you have no more issues with yours at the very least - although it's not very confidence inspiring when stuff like that happens. :peek:
  14. You are probably right, what i mean is if it had reared it's head then i would of hoped the owner/Skoda had dealt with it before and the issue resolved. . . Obviously many ifs, ands & buts and the issue is still at hand now. From what i remember - i am at work currently so i don't have anything to hand nor can i get to the car right now. I am the 3rd owner although one is the original owner and the other is the dealer. When i asked Skoda about any warranty work/recalls etc (i asked as seperate questions) - I was informed that none was carried out except the gearbox oil changed. Nothing like breather mods or engine transplants - nothing in the paperwork that i have to show any of this either. I'll have a look for an orange sticker tomorrow though when i check the engine oil. Also could you answer me a question just so it's plain and simple for a dummy like me - Does the check oil light come on at roughly the mark when there is 1.5 litres of oil left?
  15. If you're speaking to me at the end of that Wakey - mine is a CAVE engine. So the trouble was more likely to rear it's head for me, but it still would of been nice if it hadn't, or had even been fixed before hand, after all - it's 5 years old and i only got it 6 months ago.
  16. It's a surprise to me, VAG have such a reputation for reliability and being solid cars but under the surface it doesn't seem so much the case. Although for the most part mine has been reliable so far - just a few niggles really - the biggest problem being how Skoda have handled it all/Or not as the case may be. I think people could deal with some of the issues/characteristics if VAG had dealt with it all in an open and honest fashion and worked with their customers, not against them as appears to be the case for so many. From what i've read on here anyway. As i've said before (although maybe not on here?), i'm not looking for trouble with this car. . . I don't want to be picking fault with it, but obviously there are some issues that need resolving. I really would like to just enjoy the car and not be back and forth with Skoda constantly. I want to be proud of the damn thing because as far as i'm concerned - problems aside - the car is a complete masterpiece of engineering. It's superb and serves my purposes well. So lets just see what happens, and i'll keep wailing and screaming at Skoda until the car is sorted.
  17. Goneoffskion1 - All the light read was Check oil and it was approx the min line. (From cold). And VXH26 just as an add on - you're entirely right and maybe a daily check - when driven at least - will clear the matter up for me a bit more.
  18. Ok fair enough, apologies if i've rustled anyones jimmies here - not the intention. I don't have a great deal with car knowledge, i knew the capacity is 3.6 litres of oil, low oil light comes on and the oil was just below the min line on the dipstick. I added 2+2 and got 36 obviously. . . Still, surely if i'm going through 0.18 litres of oil for every 600 miles. I should of gone through approx 0.6/0.7 after 2000 miles? If the oil had been filled to the top like i was told then the oil light shouldn't of still come on? Even if the warning light comes on at approx 1.5 litres or whatever it should be? If i'm wrong then please tell me and point me in the right direction - i am after all more than happy to learn and if it saves me any future problems/hassle then all the better.
  19. That's terrifying. . . I thought they were ok initially, but it didn't take them long for me to change my opinion. I'd take the car elsewhere, but i genuinely don't trust anywhere at this time (Connected to Skoda anyway). So i'll just have to remain at the most convenient option which is Robert Eardleys
  20. So just as an update. It appears i've been lied to again and the car IS actually an oil drinker. . . sods law it would appear as i'm having one of them weeks! The oil consumption test was completed approx 2 months ago - no more than that anyway. Robert Eardleys somehow surmised it was going through 0.18litres of oil for every 600 miles i was covering. So that was the end of that and they'd very kindly topped the oil to the brim again for me. . . 2000 miles on and my oil light has come on today. (Just before setting off for work no less and i was already running later than i wanted to be). So that's kind of messed up the whole 0.18 litres for every 600 miles! Now before anyone says i should of been keeping an eye on the oil, correct i should of been, and whilst being negligent as of recently i was intent on checking it tomorrow when i'm off work. . . Nevertheless, i should not of gone through 3.6litres of oil in 2000 miles! Naturally i'll be back in touch with Skoda tomorrow to get this absolute joke of a car/situation rectified, if they can actually be bothered to display one shred of honesty or integrity.... probably not though. I'll keep you all posted regarding the matter as and when i get further updates for those that are interested.
  21. I appreciate it Wakey, i've recorded any and all faults/issues/problems with the car & skoda to the customer services already. It's still on going and i'll endeavour to shout very loud - I'll try to channel the rage of everyone on this forum which seems to of been screwed over by this company and their questionable ways! On a seperate note after doing a bit of searching (sorry going to seem creepy but curiosity got the better of me) i realised my car probably wasn't in your ownership beforehand. Your white estate VRS is lovely though! Teebs - Thanks for the input, if Robert Eardleys try messing me about (any more anyway) then i'll be sure to make sure they checked that as part of the air con check. I'll keep you all posted anyway and once again, thank you to everyone for the support. I do need to get some pics uploaded, and hopefully if i get some time, i'll show up at some car meets.
