Which VCDS Version do you exactly have? 

[is VCDS worth it for a novice?]

VCDS is the best option for novices. It's not cheap, but it has the best community around the world. With vcds it is very safety.

OBD11 is for me a No-Go. In Germany, there are many people, that have many problems with it. F.e. yesterday i has read, that someone only read in Controller 13, and after that, there was a fault code in it "sensor for automatic distance control adjusted".

VCP is more for experienced people. VCP can more damage on controllers with wrong handling, than VCDS

 

Private People, which only want to change codings on their own car, it would make more sense, to drive to an experienced person with VCDS/VCP

If you wish rear fog light only on one side, than you have to set on that side, that not should light all light functions to "nicht aktiv"

Do you want the alternately flashing only with DRL's, without flashing on sidelights, than you have to code the complete lightfunctions in "Leuchte2SL VLB10" and in "Leuchte3SL VRB21". You have to change Lightfunction A, B, C, E, F and G in both lights and the dimmings

Do any VCDS gurus know whether there is an option in the coding to disable the internal electric tailgate switch when trailer and lighting board is connected?

@Coops Sorry, my english is not so good. Did i understand it right, you want, that the tailgate don't open, if a trailer is connected?

I have found the problem. It was in Controller 09 Byte 2 Bit 0-2. That must be coded to 03. That was not listed in Gizmo's list. perhaps he could add it.

Thanks alot. Yes i read it in that post and have coded it that way, but doesn't work. Perhaps O have found the mistake. It looks like it could be in Controller 09 Byte 2 Bit 0. One German guy has activated it and than it works at his S3. The conditions that muss be satisfied, are known. Perhaps today i can try it again at the S3. It is not my car, so i can't test it  immediately.

I'm djduese from Germany. I'm the person, who has written the PDF of the VCDS Codes.

I have one Question. I have read here, that it is possible, to activate the High Beam Assist. 

Unfortunately, it doesn't work on german S3. How do you code it?
