Might have to look at the new Clio rs when trade in time comes,I do still have 3years to wait before I go hunting for a new car again.
That's what I went for when I got rid of my 3 year old Vrs estate. Only had it a few months and enjoying it so far. I did enjoy my Vrs when I had it apart from the oil usage. Mines was with in tolerance so got nothing done to it.

Did you get a good long test drive with the Clio without a salesperson with you?
I have had 2 out now for extended drives,
and on the second time i disliked the box more than the first time.
No I did not, only had for about an hour and was happy with it. I messed about with sports mode and to be honest I wanted another auto box car with a bit of poke when needed and the clio fitted the bill. Even with the Vrs I never used the paddles and won't with the clio, I am happy with auto mode. I have never even used sports mode with the fabia. To be honest if the fabia did not use as much oil as it does I would have kept it for longer and maybe went for another.
I have got so used to an auto box and the only small quick car I liked was the clio

If getting a quote from warranty direct don't put your phone number in, I got quote and they keep calling me at least 3 times a day. I have no intention of buying a warranty until last few weeks before needed which is not until the end of May , so why call me just now . This has put me off them and will probably go with skoda. Will the skoda warranty cover the DSG box, turbo, supercharger?
-
thanks for the replies, will probably go for 2 years with assist I spoke to the skoda warranty company and they said about 5 to 6 weeks before the manufacturer warranty runs out i should get a letter from skoda asking if i want to extend the warranty. Warranty is not up till the end of May so i a bit of time to get something sorted
-
my vrs is nearly 3 years old and the warranty is about to run out. I have asked my dealer about a skoda extended warranty and they have not even bothered getting back to me. So i am looking at a warranty direct or warranty wise. Anyone recommend either of them, looking ahead i would want cover for the gearbox, super charger and turbo and would not want them going and not being covered.

Yeh let me know how you get on with the st, I had the last st before getting the Vrs and might get the st2 when I change the Vrs when it's paid up next year

Another oil question, has anyone used the Asda branded premium oil in their Vrs, it's a good bit cheaper than the castrol edge I am using and it's hard to tell from looking at the label if it can be used

I had the the same problems with my fabia Vrs, ended up getting the switch replaced and no problems since

Mainly all short journeys for me and get about 310 miles to a tank, still love the Vrs and keeping it for at least one more year,

Chas, quite often this is caused by the window concerned experiencing undue amounts of friction within the door frame rubbers/seals. This confuses the one touch into thinking something is blocking the window and it needs to stop (that's how it's designed). It may also not function at all on some occasions. All you need to do is lubricate the sliding area with some silicone spray. Then let the window go up and down a few times and it should be ok. Incidentally, this lubrication thing is something that we should all do from time to time as per the owners manual. Do not use an oil based lubricant. Only silicone or some other rubber lube.
Edit: after the lube operation which you should do to both windows at the front, you may need to reset the window operating parameters, after which you will have no more trouble. By that I mean the holding the button in to make the window go down. Once down continue to hold the button in the down position for 2-3 seconds (window mechanism will click) and then release. Immediately hold the button in making the window go up. Once fully up, continue to hold the button for another 2-3 seconds and then release. This sets the operating parameters and everything will work as normal. I recommend doing this with the engine running at idle, as there is evidence this makes a difference.
thanks for you help, I think its something to do with the switch itself rather than the window. I think this as if I try to operate the passenger window using the drivers switch it wont go down or one touch des not work, but if I use the switch in the passenger door it works fine and one touch works fine, I try the drivers switch and it does not work. I have it booked in now to see what they say, its working now but yesterday it would not work at all.
-
still having problems with the windows, seems to work fine up until it rains heavily, then the drivers switch stops working properly, the windows go down sometimes, then don't, or they go down and wont go back up. After a few days it then starts working again. Looks like the rain is the problem, but I don't know where to look.

I am having intermittent problems with my one touch windows on the drivers side. The passenger side works ok, what`s happening is the opening of both windows using the drivers control stops working, I can get them to go down holding the button, but not using the one touch. They will go back up using the one touch. I tried resetting them using the guide on here and it did not work, I then booked it in to the garage and when I tried today they seem to be working again. This has been going on for a few weeks in the it works for a bit then stops, then works again
Anyone with ideas of what the problem could be.

You can use your voice to control it, press and hold the telephone button and say music, then say play and the music should play, press the button and say next to skip to the next track

Evening,
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what might be ailing my brand new vRS that I've owned for less than 5 hours - after about 45 mins after driving my new baby away from the dealership the tyre warning light came on. I thought nothing of it as I have a pump at home & put it down to the dealership putting in too little/much air. Sure enough the least filled tyre was at 3.5 bar so I let some out until it got closer to the 2.5/2.4 mark... however the friggin warning light is still on! I'm going to be calling the dealership first thing tomorrow & then drive straight there after work to sort it out but thought I'd throw it out the on the forum to see if anyone had any theories.
FYI not sure if this might affect things at all but I had the standard Gigaro alloys swapped out at the dealership for the Anthracite Gigaros... so possibly something to do with that? I don't know as I've got very little knowledge about vehicles beyond driving them!

What to do is check all your pressures are correct, then turn the key so you get the electrics on, but don't start then press and hold the tyre pressure setting button next to the handbrake and the light should go out and your pressures are set.

my service interval seems set to variable, when as i belive the fabia vrs is fixed servicing only as it does not have the the sensors for variable. My question is why dont the set the the display to variable, my service light has come on and its only done 18700 miles and it says service due in 100 mls. My first service was done at 9500, so i will tae it back in at 19500 and make sure its set to fixed.
-
just press and hold the down button on the stalk and the mfd display should appear.
-
so does anyone know what is the deal with the service schedule on the vrs, my code tells me its on fixed servicing which is 1 year or 10,000 miles. My service book says next service is due as per display. Now my first service was done at 9511 miles when the car was 10 months old. I am now onto 18517 and my car is saying service in 400 miles which will take it up to 18917 miles. So should i get it serviced when these 400 miles are gone or wait untill nearer 20,000 miles.

An engine should never use 8L in 18k miles lol This is ridiculous
seems mine is not as bad as others, with my old fiest st i never put extra oil into it in the 4 years i had it.
Still love the car though, it the most fun car to drive i have had
-
i have 18000 miles on my vrs and used about 8 litres of castrol edge over those miles. Is this ok for the vrs or should i speak to the dealer
-
I also asked and was told you can extend the warranty as long as you do so before the initial 3 year warranty has not run out

anyone tried the fully synthetic oil in asda which costs £20 for 5 litres, it says its suitable for all modern performance engines, but could not see any info if its suitable for my vrs. I normal buy castrol edge at the moment, also soes mine seem ok for oil usage. I have had the car for 18 months and drove about 17000 miles and put in about 7 litres of oil in that time.

thanks guys , i have not decided to do this yet as i might decide to go for an extended warranty as i plan to keep the vrs for 5 years and dont fancy running it for 2 years out of warranty.
