  3. I would just like to thank my fellow briskodians for the vast amount of information on the forum! Today I jumped in my fabia ready to combat the morning commute, turned the key and it was dead as a dodo! Lights on but no crank to save fuss green flag came out and diagnosed the starter motor was cooked a quick swizz online found one at euro’s which was soon collected! I’m pretty handy with a spanner so attacked the car removing the air box, battery and undertray to uncover the starter, saw on the forum about the wire of death, as wiring isn’t normally my forte I hoped it wasn’t this but when removing the connector the wire fell to bits so I found some spare wire spliced it together crimped a spade terminal on the end and it worked saving me £150 and the faff of wrestling the starter out! Thanks Peeps it would of cost me much more time & money if it wasn’t for you!!! Happy motoring!!!:)
  4. Hi changing my head bolts soon to the more robust PD150 items does any one have the torque settings / pattern these need to be taken out in? Any tips also will be most helpful, I’m doing a cambelt at the same time cheers
  5. I live in Bucks and the roads are not much better here just had my 17inch spiders refurbished getting my standard wheels done too, my cars been lowered 30mm would 50 profile rub on standard wheels? Highly recommend wheel clinic in Northampton they are brilliant!
  6. From what I believe the higher the number the harder the compound of the friction material is, I looked across the range and went for the best all rounder!
  7. As above depends what you want to do? I use mine for fast road and use brembo discs and pads and I can’t fault them! Depends how deep your pockets are also Ate are good and have carbon ceramic pads that are great for fast road and track applications
  8. Hi I need to replace my head bolts does anyone still have the afore mentioned pdf that tell you torque and tightening pattern?
  9. Does anyone know what colour wire the earth is on the stereo wiring harness for a MK1 VRS? Electrics are not my strong point on cars
  10. I got one from gsf it was about £10 and plugged in piece of cake only took 5 mins
  11. No, I don’t think so I think mk5 carrier holes are placed slightly differently so you won’t be able to bolt them the hub! As I said go for 312mm brakes from a Mk1 Audi TT , MK 4 Golf Gti or a MK1 Octavia VRS
  12. They are MK5 brakes I got given a full set to refurbish and sell and they are different, I’ve fitted 312mm to my fabia from a MK1 Audi TT they definitely fit and are much better than the standard 288mm setup especially with brembo discs and pads
  13. I purchased a pair of Marshall tyres for my Fabia they are Rebranded Kuhmo my mate is a tyre fitter and did a side by side comparison to the marshal and the Kuhmo ecsta sport the tread pattern is identical as is the code number on the label. It seems that lots of brands are putting out budget lines of the same tyres now.
  14. My Brake switch went recently also, but I had no brake lights at all! try unplugging and replugging the connection to ensure you have got a decent contact as my coil light stayed on and after fiddling with the wire and depressing the pedal a few times it went off! failing this see if you can find someone with VAGCOM to plug it in and investigate what faults codes come up!
  15. Thanks im definatly after a drivers car! not into posing and lurking round the MC D's car park with the susension wound down so low that you leave the sump on a rumble strip haha
