  1. There do seem to have been some changes to spec over the last few months - I created a 'car card' from the configurator back last June and can see it says my car should have the auto dimming rear view mirror (SE Technology). Having received the car in December I found it doesn't, but it does seem to have automatic wipers which I wasn't expecting!
  2. I'm getting this on my 2.0 TDi, 3rd and occasionally 1st do it if you're not concentrating. Hopefully it will loosen up, I got used to my Superb's very relaxed gearbox after 138k!
  3. I have had issues with the USB stick in very cold weather, but this was also the case with the same stick in my previous car (Mk3 Superb) and I put it down to the USB stick not liking the extremes of temperature, as heat did the same (files suddenly became unplayable). It seems to have been OK in the Octavia so far and I haven't had any infotainment crashes/freezing, but I have had to plug it into a PC and let it be scanned/repaired as it seemed to have developed corruptions on some files. Unfortunately since I've had the new car I've not had cause to go very far due to working from home, but this should change in the next few weeks so I'll be able to give it a good test!
  4. I'm using a SanDisk Ultra Fit 64GB USB 3.0 drive like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Ultra-Fit-Flash-Drive/dp/B00LLEODCK/ref=sr_1_27?_encoding=UTF8&c=ts&dchild=1&keywords=USB%2BFlash%2BDrives&qid=1610709159&refinements=p_n_size_browse-bin%3A22433134031%2Cp_89%3ASanDisk&rnid=1632651031&s=computers&sr=1-27&ts_id=430554031&th=1 It's been superseded but is USB 3.0. It's plugged into a Blukar USB-C adaptor: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08CRV8V7R/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Hope that helps in some small way.
  5. I bought a little adaptor rather than a cable and that seems to work OK without having had to change anything. All I can think is maybe the cable is only for charging, and doesn't have the data connection pins connected? Have you tried plugging the cable and USB stick into a laptop's USB-C port to see if you can read the USB stick that way?
  6. One thing that's just occurred to me is what the power requirements might be for the SD card reader, and whether the car's USB-C port can provide it? Not sure of all the technical details but I believe with pre-USB-C ports the current levels available can sometimes vary so certain USB devices just don't receive sufficient power, which may be the case here.
  7. I have a USB stick (64Gb) that I used to use in my Superb. I've bought a USB A to C adaptor and plugged it in and can play files from it fine - the initial options are to browse by album or artist but you can also browse the file structure and manually look up albums (useful for me as I sorted albums into some different genres etc). Have you tried the SD card and reader in anything else to confirm it's reading OK? The main issue I get with mine is in the cold (or heat) the USB stick gets a bit unhappy and files then won't play, but it sorts itself another day. This happened on the Superb and also this car. Hope that helps to at least confirm you can read files via USB.
  8. Think I've got those wheels, will have to keep an eye on that. Water shouldn't be an issue, but I can see mud and gravel getting in there...
  9. I've noticed the lack of decent hooks, having come from a Superb which had not only the foldaway ones but more of the fixed smaller ones. I'm not sure what use the T shaped sprung hook is as it's quite low so doesn't really keep a shopping bag upright. There appear to be 2 of the small hooks each side, but they're not much use for bags with bigger/thicker handles like the jute reusable ones for example. The right side blank is for the tow bar release - I've got it on mine as below. Annoyingly I kept the boot nets from my Superb hoping to use them in the Octavia but there isn't a high level hook at the rear so the side pocket ones don't fit - pity as they were really useful and stopped everything sliding around the boot.
  10. Sadly I have to advise my retirement from Superb ownership and this list as my faithful company car has now been replaced, somewhat later than expected, by a shiny new Octavia. 4 years, 10 months and 1 week with negligible issues, if my company car budget had stretched enough I would have had another in a heartbeat....maybe in 3 years time I'll be back! Below is the last photo of my Superb (I took a lot!), and first of the Octy...
  11. Couldn't afford Velvet Red, far to posh! They are both in Corrida Red, the flat non-metallic red.
  12. Both company cars, so not my money . To be fair I was hoping to have returned the wonderful Superb in better condition but a combination of bad weather and car-washes being closed put pay to that!
  13. Here's mine on the day I picked it up (last Monday), with the car it replaced in the background. The observant among you might be able to tell what colour I like...
  14. I've only had mine a week and not driven too far, but have had a few issues getting into third (stick just didn't go far enough forwards in the gate and I got the grinding noise when lifting the clutch as it wasn't properly in gear, making me look like I don't know how to drive!!). Will have to monitor but useful to see others having this issue too, as I thought it was just me being lazy on the gear change. For ref mine's a 2.0 TDi
  15. Evening, we've noticed a noise with my Son's Citigo that (as far as I know) is fairly recent and would be grateful for any thoughts. While in motion it makes a very intermittent metallic scraping noise. At first I thought a small stone or similar had got stuck in the brakes as it sounded like that but it seems not, as on our way home today the noise started and cut off immediately that the clutch pedal was pushed in. Now I'm aware from searching this forum there are reports of the clutch rattling and clonking, but this is definitely more of a metallic scraping noise. Only happens for a second or so, and only once in a while when driving. Car was bought second hand in August, it's a 16 plate 1 litre petrol if that matters, obviously manual gearbox. Current mileage is about 16,200 - we bought it with 15k or so on it and it hasn't been used much until the last month or so as son only recently passed his test. For the record it's made the noise when both he and I have been driving, so not his driving! Am a little concerned as he's potentially about to get a job so will need the car to commute so we need this to be reliable, and I need to know if it's something that's just a feature, or if it needs to go to a garage fairly quickly for investigation. As always thanks for any advice. Matt
  16. Mine doesn't - the only time I've known a car with hissing a/c was our old Polo that needed the a/c serviced and regassed...
  17. Just searched through the digital manual for 'update' and the following is given: Updating the navigation database Information for updating the navigation database must be requested from a ŠKODA partner. Automatic update Infotainment automatically carries out an update if the following conditions are met: ✓ The “Infotainment Online” online services are activated. ✓ An update of the navigation database for the current vehicle position or route destination is available. I don't believe there are SD card slots on this car (think the dealer mentioned it at handover).
  18. Overnight while trying to sleep I had a revelation about the plastic thingy and as advised above realised it's a bracket that fits between the front headrest supports and the media holder then clips into it! Simple when you know how! Thanks for the replies above. Been to the dealer this morning and been supplied with another media holder that fits in the front cupholders, which is what was shown on the configurator. They confirmed the bin is missing and are trying to source but as it's part of a pack were a bit unsure if they could get it singly. I knew what it looked like as my Superb had one but was relieved I hadn't missed seeing it somewhere - having enough fun trying to work out this new car as it is!!
  19. Quick query here - I specified the Simply Clever extras with the double sided boot floor, waste bin and media holder and I'm not sure if everything has been delivered. Definitely got the boot floor, there is some form of media holder (that doesn't look like the version in the on-line builder) and I think the bin is missing. This is what I've got... I have no idea what the hinged bit of plastic on the left is (I do have the towbar but can't see how this relates) and I can't see where the media holder would fit into the dash or anywhere else, there's a sprung clip at the rear. Anyone else had this add-on and can confirm what should have turned up? I'm popping back to the dealer tomorrow morning so they can double check/search the car for the bin and then see what they can do to find a replacement.
  20. Ah, at least it's not just me then, never mind! I guess if it annoys me sufficiently I will look at it!
  21. Oh right, I've left WiFi on, will turn off! Still getting used to this connected car, the previous one was a basic Superb so a different kettle of fish. At present only seeing radio station logos on some dab stations, don't know how to add the missing ones, which isn't just small ones but also some national, eg Classic FM is missing. Not sure if now the Connect is active these will drop into place?
  22. Woo-hoo - connected to my Wi-Fi and off it went, all registered OK! Many thanks all....now to work out a few other things that aren't showing up...!!
  23. Um, I can connect the car to my wi-fi? Clearly I haven't been playing with the settings enough - where do I find that option?! Edit: OK, having dug into the on-line manual more I think I found it, but I missed it originally as it describes connecting Infotainment to a mobile hotspot, but presumably a home wifi does the same!
  24. Thanks. I'll have to see how it goes - at the end of the day I can still drive the car, it's just a niggle that it won't complete!
  25. Thanks - I've got to go out later so will try from where I park up there. Did you choose register or log-in when you were in the car can you remember?
