Answering a phone call
Cheers - I eventually found it as first you have to press the right wheel, then scroll to the phone menu, then press the right arrow button on the right side of the wheel to get to the sub-menu, in which is a hang-up option. A lengthy process to do one thing, but that seems to be the way with this car...

Answering a phone call
As a related query, how do you hang up a call? I had the phone button on my Superb which jumped the MFD to the phone screen and allowed me to hang up, but it's not there on the Octavia and I've searched the PDF manual and can't find anything about phone control on the steering wheel. I note that pressing the right wheel, going to the phone menu and then pressing the 'right' button below the wheel takes you to a list of calls, does that get you to a 'hang up' option when you're in call? It's quite annoying/dangerous having to lunge for the featureless touchscreen and try and hit the red button to hang up while driving!

Anyone had / fixed these faults ?
Mine's a cloth seat, manual and does it, my car's a SE Technology not vRS. Seems ok on short trips but definitely slumps after an hour or so's driving. Hope that helps.

Radio station logos
I think there was a previous thread on this. From memory the logos are broadcast on the DAB stream but not every radio station/group of stations does it so some (like Classic FM) aren't there. I also find sometimes the logos load, sometimes not, it's random but possibly due to reception strength? Previous thread:

Anyone had / fixed these faults ?
I have 3 - glad you mentioned this as I was going to ask if anyone else had that. Thought I was imagining things at first then made a point of seeing where the seat was relative to the B pillar and confirmed it slumps. Will be interested in what your garage does as I think I may have to get mine in soon - aside from this I get spurious park distance control errors.

Planning to Tow With a New Car - BEWARE
Great, many thanks for clarifying that - so I can tow up to 1,500kg which if I apply the 85% rule I heard somewhere gives 1,275kg. Seems OK as I don't think we'd be getting a massive caravan!

Doubled up on Skodas... guess I should join now!
Welcome, I also have multiple Skodas, a 2016 Citigo, 2017 Fabia and 2020 Octavia! Nothing wrong being all Skoda!

Planning to Tow With a New Car - BEWARE
I'm not an experienced tower by any measure, and specified a towbar on my company Octavia as I thought it would be useful if we got a caravan in the future, but reading the above I'm now confused and slightly concerned that I won't be able to tow. I'm not 100% clear on what all the numbers mean on the plate in the b pillar - took a photo as below as my car (SE Technology) doesn't appear on the list posted above. Am I ok to tow, and what sort of weight limitation do I have, assuming it's not just for bike racks!?

ACC misbehaving
I'll keep my eyes peeled - I'm in a (very dirty at the moment) Corrida Red hatch!

ACC misbehaving
Interesting, I haven't got the sign recognition but the car thinking it's on the continent makes sense for the ACC error! Incidentally, your car isn't white by any chance? I've seen a white Mk4 estate around the south of Norwich a couple of times...!

Unable to add Fabia on MySkoda app
Since I posted my app now shows the car, like yours, but I haven't tried anything more. I think it now gives step by step explanations of how to connect so when I get a chance I'll have to try and will feedback what happens.

Driving tips reappeared
I managed to turn that one off as being told a roundabout was coming up a mile away and to slow down drove me mad. I haven't yet worked out where the off switch for the other eco tips are, eg telling you to look at the gear change indicator, not to put the clutch in above 1300 rpm and most annoying, moaning that you've got the windows open causing aerodynamic drag! Anyone got any hints?! Drove home the other night with pretty much every driving 'aid' turned off and really enjoyed the drive!!

Lane Assist Software Glitch?
I'm having intermittent Park Distance Control failures, turning car off and on again makes no difference and I can't see any pattern in terms of where I've left the car for it to be affected (ie in full sun). Last night leaving the office it popped up again but only for a second, and then cleared itself, odd. Parking radar is unusable when this error is in play, not sure what else... Haven't had Lane Assist fail this way, though I was very pleased to find the steering wheel shortcut to turn the damn thing off yesterday (rather than trying to fumble through infotainment menus while driving), think that will become a routine operation for me for most journeys!

ACC misbehaving
I was about to say it must be something to do with Norfolk roads but then spotted someone in Yorkshire has the same issue...! Been using the system today and worked fine, hey ho! If it's that sensitive to knocks, my job (going onto building sites) isn't going to be good for it

Anyone actually happy with their MK4? 😂
I agree that's probably true but just to skew things I am a company car user, but have found this forum very useful since I got my Superb in 2016 and then the Octavia last December! Helps that since the Superb we've also had a Yeti (then sold it as the sunroof leaked) and also got a Fabia and Citigo, Skoda bug has bitten me well and truly and this forum is a great help! As far as my Octy goes, I've done a little over 1,600 miles since the start of December due to lockdown (normally 30,000 a year), and its nice to drive and efficient (MySkoda App showing average 61.4mpg over the 1,600 miles). Infotainment is a gripe, definitely not 'simply clever' but I'm getting the hang of it. Aside from the known over-intrusive lane assist and the irritating driver 'assist' messages (now turned off) generally OK (assuming the ACC hiccup doesn't repeat!). On balance I think I still prefer my old Mk3 Superb, even though it was a really basic spec as it just worked and drove nicely; unfortunately a new Superb was out of my car budget. I'm sure as I spend more time in the Octavia I'll warm to it more.

ACC misbehaving
So, I'm enjoying the ACC on my new Octavia as I've not had this before, and even with a manual box it's very useful. However, I had a few (4-5) occasions last week during 2-3 journeys where I was on a dual carriageway, was in the right hand lane to overtake a slower vehicle and the ACC 'locked on' to the vehicle in the left lane (eg showed up as a white car not grey on the display), and braked my car as I was about to overtake - not ideal when there's someone behind you - and I only noticed due to the sudden deceleration. It's the same as it would do if I was in the left lane and a car in the right lane was going slower, so it stops you undertaking, so all I can think that for some reason it forgets which side I can overtake on! Not sure if it's linked but I also had intermittent Park distance (or something like that) control errors at this time, however the parking sensors were fine when I parked up. Didn't have the issue on a similar journey today so will have to keep an eye on it, just wondering if anyone has had similar?

Media on USB starts from same place every time car started
Haven't tried that, will give it a go next time that happens, thanks for the advice.

Media on USB starts from same place every time car started
Hmm, good question - I'll check both sticks and see. Suspect NTFS as its the default, will be interesting if that's the case and not temperature! When I've had unplayable files that's been that until the next day. On my old Superb I had the Swing radio which had the unplayable files issue, on the Fabia it's as if the stick has been unplugged and plugged in again and it starts from the first file. I'll check formats and get back to you...

Unable to add Fabia on MySkoda app
I was wondering if anyone's had any issues adding their Fabia on the updated MySkoda app? Since the update all I get once I've entered the VIN is the following: I've tried connecting with both Bluetooth and USB but nothing changes, even removed the car from the app and re-added it while still on bluetooth and nothing. While I know the app isn't perfect (took a few attempts to get my Octavia connected), it would be useful if I can access manuals and possibly the servicing info, if that works for this car. Any pointers are very welcome, thanks in advance.

Media on USB starts from same place every time car started
So having looked further and had a bit more info from my wife, it seems the issue is related to cold weather affecting the USB stick, as it's OK at the moment. I have had similar issues with a different USB stick plugged both into my old Mk3 Superb and now my Mk4 Octavia where it suddenly can't find any playable files, so I guess it's just 'one of those things'!

Media on USB starts from same place every time car started
Hi, hoping someone has a hint at why my wife's 67 plate (February 2018) Fabia seems to be determined to play the same album from the USB stick! Sorry if this is covered somewhere else, have had a search but couldn't see it. What is happening is that we've got a USB stick with a variety of albums on it, but whenever the car is started it always starts on the same song, irrespective of which album etc was playing when the car was previously used. Understandably this is annoying the good lady a bit so would help me if I can resolve it! Not had the car long so might just need a fiddle with settings but if there's a known issue and resolution that would be great! Not entirely sure which radio it's got, but it's a colour edition if that helps narrow it down! I can take photos idf that helps at all. Many thanks Matt

Octavia navigation
I know you can zoom in and out using one of the wheel controls which doesn't help as you don't want to keep doing that at junctions! The Google Maps system seems a lot better - and having tried the car's nav the other day between a couple of villages it took me on a bizarre route and at one point tried to take me thorough a private estate/Horse stud farm! Not sure how much I trust it now!

Importing DAB Logos
Interesting, I've noticed a few stations doing that. Presumably it's a case of poor signal if the logo is being transmitted as noted above.

Leaking Panoramic Roof - The Cause and the Cure
I had a Peugeot 307SW with a panoramic glass roof and yes it was nice, but having later had a Polo with a proper sunroof I really liked the option of having the fresh air coming in the roof then out the partially open rear windows and not blasting at your face, which opening the front windows can do. A solid glazed roof can get far too hot in direct sun so you may as well just have a roof, whereas on the Polo I often had the roof open and the sunroof blind closed, which still let air through. Yes, with A/C in the height of summer a sunroof isn't great as it just lets the hot air in, but for pure fresh air in the car just wafting gently overhead I preferred it. Fortunately in the 13 years we had the Polo the sunroof never leaked, but after the Yeti I'll think twice now though... Like all these things, it's each to their own I suppose!

Leaking Panoramic Roof - The Cause and the Cure
Welcome to a very friendly and helpful forum! I hope you will be able to get something sorted without costing the earth - we traded in the Yeti for the Fabia I mentioned which my wife now loves and to be honest is probably for her more suitable and for family use we've got the Octavia. Robinsons are in our good books at the moment as they called up a few days ago noting the Fabia was due a service and MOT, and upon realising we'd only just bought it are now doing both for free! It's a pity these sunroofs have this issue, as personally I love the feature giving light and air but if it also gives swimming pools for footwells that's not so good! Hopefully for you it's just a blocked hose and not the other...
