  1. Wow! I like my Corrida Red, but if that had been available when I ordered I would have been tempted! (Our cars are all bright - red Octavia and Citigo and a Fabia in metallic green). I would say yes for the next one, but I'm not sure if I'd get another Mk4 Octy when the company car is up for changing.
  2. My car's been in a couple of times over the last 6-8 weeks, first time they got some updates done but the last one crashed when they tried to load it so I had to go back a couple of weeks ago to get the latest done, and checking my system it now matches all your version numbers above. After the first updates they introduced a whole load of new issues (possibly due to the failed update), some of which got fixed by the last update but some remain, such as not being able to cancel travel announcements by pressing the left hand silver wheel, minor but annoying. Like you I now have wireless android auto (albeit it doesn't seem 100% stable) and the constant park distance control errors have gone. Still the occasional issue with ACC locking onto the vehicle in the lane to the left but lane assist is slightly less annoying now. Fair to say it's getting there...
  3. I'm no petrol head or wannabe rally driver, but my 2.0TDi manual drives really nicely, feels quite nippy compared to the 1.6TDi Superb it replaced and handles well round the country lanes as well as motorways, don't feel like I'm losing control anywhere. As others have said, if it weren't for the digital bits causing annoyances it'd be perfect.
  4. I think you've summed up my car too! Great economy, basic ride is comfortable, it's just the distractions/annoyances from the digital systems. Hoping by the time it's due to change not every Skoda has this level of integration but I'm not holding out much hope...perhaps going for a bottom range model would work best from that front? Been through a couple of software update visits to the dealers so far and the first visit ADDED some faults that still haven't been sorted by the second! Mind you, lane assist seems much better and I even got wireless Android Auto to function!!
  5. The fan is also loud if any vent is closed, the sound drops a lot once you open one.
  6. Since I last posted mine's started going though a constant reset cycle, rebooting approximately every 60 seconds or so (or sometimes only once, all very odd). Not all the time though. I did also once get a blank screen and SOS system error, but holding down on the power button reset it and cleared the fault. Due to this and the parking brake sticking (which typically has now cleared itself) I've booked it in to the garage and also highlighted the other minor niggles I was living with. Will see what happens - I think I'm a few versions of software behind (1664 if I recall correctly) so hoping it's a simple fix.
  7. Mine started to have issues about 3 weeks ago after being faultless before (had car since December 2020) with the brakes groaning quite loudly at times before releasing. Wasn't 100% of the time. Have been on holiday for a fortnight so car not used much, and now seems OK! Typical, as have booked car in for a few issues, this amongst them...!
  8. I've been getting the Park Distance Control errors intermittently for some time and just ignored it, but the head unit on mine has now started power cycling (not all the time), rebooting every minute or so when it does. Sounds like a trip to the dealer for me too but fortunately it's a company car so it's more the hassle than anything else.
  9. Hmm, wonder if that was my old car - was it a 65 plate? I left a sticker in it as I couldn't get it off!
  10. One of the first times I tried to use the car's SatNav it tried to take me though a private horse stud, as the private road was shown on it's map. Generally I find Google Maps better (or I'm just used to it); one thing I've noticed on the SatNav is the thick line it uses to show your route obscures any highlighting on the map showing traffic queues so you've no warning of them being there. I would agree being able to put it right in front of you on the dashboard is neat, however the turn notifications then don't appear on the dash (they do if the normal dash is shown and also appear on the infotainment screen).
  11. Yep, had noticed that on mine - wasn't quite as bad with my previous Superb but possibly the Octy's boot lid is lighter; the Superb's closed under it's own weight once you got it going whereas this one doesn't.
  12. Not sure about spongy when pressing it, but it definitely makes a clunk when I release it in a hurry (on a manual 2.0 TDi though). Brake pedal moves a lot on ACC braking but I didn't have ACC on last car (Superb) so only prior experience was when the collision detection activated and braked the car, the pedal moved then!
  13. Think you've summed up my feelings - my previous company car was a basic Superb but as you say I still found it 'superb' and to an extent regret not going for another basic Superb rather than the Octavia in terms of ease of use. Probably the only thing I don't miss on the Superb is the glovebox popping open when I went over a large bump, at least the Octavia's doesn't do that!
  14. I would have to agree that if you ignore/disable all the irritating tech the car drives very nicely (I've a 2.0TDi), nippy and handles well, a little better than my previous Superb which was comfy but gentle! Efficient too - I don't have driving modes (that I've found) but with long drives and using the ACC I'm getting high 60 low 70 mpg between fills.
  15. Mine fights for a bit then decides to scream at me and turn half my dash red, like an angry child who's being ignored!! Ever so slightly distracting...hence it's usually turned off. Slightly annoyed I added it as an extra, hey ho!
  16. I think the glib answer to the thread title is - badly! I have the issue that on rural roads it just can't work out where I am and gets really upset over worn or wet strips on the road and generally any surface that's not a nice even blacktop. Aside from trying to steer me into the middle of the road the loud beep is off-putting to say the least. Must be some form of camera as it can determine between different types of white line on main roads, and if there's no white line shows a 'rough' edge to the road otherwise which I'm sure radar couldn't do. Probably why it gets confused over other line-like markings on the road. I'd also note (sorry if this is obvious) that the display will dim if you go below 30mph as it turns off below that speed.
  17. I seem to recall similar posts a couple of weeks ago or so, think the software update somehow removed the ACC function and it had to be reloaded by the dealer! Just had a search and can't find the thread at the moment, sorry, you might have more luck.
  18. Out of interest where in the myriad of menus did you find that setting? I've got the PDF manual but short of scanning through the whole thing and having no lock with a word search I would be grateful for a nudge in the right direction... Not that my acc has had this issue recently, after my original issues in March it seems to have calmed down!
  19. I think if I turn my heating to 21°C the fans calm down - it's only loud if I'm at or below 18°C which to be fair isn't often (until recently) unless other members of the family are in the car as they like it a lot colder!
  20. I've recently put my system back to Auto (based on a comment in another thread) to try and minimise how much I need to randomly stab at the touchscreen while I'm driving, and noticed that when I turned the car on in the now hot weather I get a powerful Siberian blast for quite some time, until the car presumably cools down enough for the fans to slow down (which it did gradually, not all at once). Also noticed the split heating - turned my side down and it sort of calmed a bit, then turned down the passenger's side and it dropped off to a murmur. I experimented turning the desired temperature up a bit and the fans definitely calmed down a little, so if yours isn't staying on full tilt there's something amiss. Presumably this issue persists even if you turn the temperature down to LO? Not sure what counts as an early model - collected mine December 7th 2020 so no idea when it was built as it's a company car so I was removed from the ordering process.
  21. Also can't cope with rural roads - mine either tries to steer me into oncoming traffic or beeps loudly and flashes a red screen shouting at me to drive in the middle of the lane. Which I am. More distracting than assisting...
  22. I'd have to check, but if acc is saying not enabled have you pulled the little acc stalk on the left of the steering wheel forwards to turn the system on? If you can see the odometer then acc is off, it disappears when turned on. Hope that helps - I know exactly how you feel with all the controls - it took me 15 minutes of the drive back from the dealer just to work out how to change radio station!
  23. Welcome - lovely photos and the best colour for a car (in my humble opinion!).
  24. We've had family membership for a number of years, though eldest is now 19 and youngest 17 so will need to get a separate ticket for one at least! Pity there's not some way of extending the family pass while they're still under my roof. Great thing is they both enjoy coming out with us, unfortunately we're an hour from the nearest NT places so it's usually only when we're on holiday that we go. That said, my office is 1 mile from Anglesey Abbey near Cambridge, so have made use of my pass for a number of lunchtime wanders!
  25. Cheers - I eventually found it as first you have to press the right wheel, then scroll to the phone menu, then press the right arrow button on the right side of the wheel to get to the sub-menu, in which is a hang-up option. A lengthy process to do one thing, but that seems to be the way with this car...
