  1. Hi, thanks for the advice. I've renewed air, fuel and oil filter and charged the battery. From cold it will start after the glow plug light goes out. That is with the temp sensor connected or disconnected. However, yesterday after I had run it up and moved it, it would not start, even with the temp sensor disconnected. Half an hour later it started fine. My only observation was that I thought the starter seemed slow. I do have a refurbished spare so was going to try that. Any comments greatly appreciated.
  2. Hi, thanks for the reply, will try that and post results. I'm going to overhaul the cooling system as it seems to have one or two leaks.
  3. Hi, Some advice please if possible. I've just bought a Skoda pick up 1.9sdi. The previous owner said it had a 'hot starting' issue and unplugged the temperature sensor. That's fine as a temporary measure but where do I start to address this as a permanent fix. I'm going to renew the coolant as there are a couple of leaks that I want to stop and it looks as though there's been a new temperature sensor fitted with a green band. Thanks in advance.
  4. Hi, I've just bought a Felicia pacific estate 1 3 mpi, which is a lovely low mileage car. One of the few problems I have is an oil leak from the cam follower cover on the side of the engine. I'm after the parts numbers for the gasket and the rubber washers that hold the plate in place if anyone can oblige. Thanks in advance.
  5. Hi, yes the numbers were exactly the same. I hoped if I put the original central locking ecu back it would work and at least I would be able to lock the car, so not complaining about that. The key from the matching set operated the ignition but nothing else and I changed the battery in the key just in case. Tomorrow I'll try the lock barrel swap and see if were still starting, then report back. One odd thing, the car now tells me when the doors are open, it's low on screen wash and if there's a bulb off, it never did that before???? I do appreciate your input, thanks again.
  6. Hi Wino, did the whole change over and now the car starts fine. I've retro fitted the original central locking ecu as the new (second hand) key would not operate the central locking at all. So at least I have a car that starts, ru a and lock, albeit with two keys. So here's the ask...... If I took my original ignition barrel with its reader and put that in the ignition switch, would the car still start? Can send you instruments and original ecu if you want to have a look at them, just let me know. Also it seems I have a spare convenience module and the central locking ecu if anyone needs them. Finally, the guide was spot on! Job was quite easy with it. Brilliant thanks!
  7. Wino, thanks for the information am going to do the job in the next few days but if you want any of the components I'm taking off please let me know. Thanks, Dave
  8. Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes I had the joints re soldered and it made no difference. Sorry, I should have mentioned that. I've read a few posts regarding this subject which is why as a last chance I'm buying the second hand ecu etc. I'd rather take a loss of £60 than spend £700 plus on a car that's potentially not worth that amount .
  9. Hi, I'm looking for some help regarding my immobiliser issue on a Fabia mk1 tdi estate. Had the problem diagnosed as needing new instrument cluster plus keys at £700 plus. It's not worth spending that much on a 2003 car so I've bought a set second hand but guaranteed from ebay. So here's where I need the help. Where abouts is the body module 6Q1937049c and the convenience control ecu 6Q0959433 located on the car and are there any trick to removing them? The rest is fine (instruments, steering and door lock and ECU) and I will be able to fit them. Thanks in advance
  10. Update on my pick up problem. Strangely enough it's starting and running much better. Apart from a diesel rattle and a slight hesitation now and again. At least it's driveable. I took it for a VAG diagnostic. The port did not connect to the computer. The technician is as Audi master mechanic. He looked at the engine, drove the car and advised having the pump off the engine and set up by a diesel specialist. So that is the next step.
  11. Hi Ricardo, yes you make a good point. Before I change the pump I'll get a diagnostic and report back. Thanks again.
  12. Hi Ricardo, my assumption that the pump is at fault is based on the work I've done (injectors, filter, check timing). The only other thing I can think of is the pump. I really am stumped with this. My video shows the truck starting immediately then 'hunting ' up and down. It runs but pushes out white and black smoke, lots if it.
  13. Just had my injectors refurbished, changed egr valve. Diagnostic could not connect to car, so no joy there. Put everything back together but still no change. I'm going to try to add a video of it running. My next item for attention is the fuel pump. Any words of guidance greatly appreciated. Video not happening!
  14. Hi, I'm looking for some guidance as I've got a problem with my 1.9 skoda pick up. When driving m, the car hesitates and there's a rattle. If you put your foot down there's black smoke them off she goes. Starting is ok but you have to 'encourage' the accelerator pedal . Then tick over is fine. I changed the glo plugs recently m, 3 and 4 cylinder very sooty. I've now replaced the injectors and its definitely running better but still have the rattle and hesitation. Any advice? Thanks Dave
