  1. Some insightful comments. Really helpful. Thank you all. Think I will keep this car a little while longer and see what happens in the future.
  2. Good evening all. I have a Skoda Superb SEL Executive 1.4 TSI ACT, that is, quite frankly, the best car I have ever owned. I have driven loads of cars over the years, and this car has been the best. I have had so many compliments over the 3 1/2 years of ownership. Every time I get in it, I grab the steering wheel, look around, and feel really happy to be in such a lovely car. However, I really like the facelifted model and this is where my dilemma begins. You see, I have two autistic boys, and they need a lot of space in the back, and the Superb has been the perfect answer. I added things like the LED plus package to make it a nice environment for them at night and to keep their anxiety levels down. My natural response was to simply order a new Superb. However, when I look at the specification, dare I say it, I feel ripped off. The list price for my car in 2016 was just over 24K, now it is over 27K. I know prices go up and I accept that totally. Examining the spec, however, things get worse. The SEL Executive now loses the Columbus system, which now costs over 1K. I now need to spec new trim inserts if I want the LED plus package. This was originally £195, now about £400 in total. I now have to add the boot net programme at £60, which last time was included at no cost. The killer though is that the wonderful touch of two umberellas in the car has been reduced to just one. I reckon that to get the same spec of car will now cost me about 4.5K more. I do, I really do, feel ripped off. Can I ask you guys your opinion please? Are you in a similar situation? I am looking for some insightful comments to help me see this clearly please. Perhaps I am missing something. I really like the Skoda Superb, and want another one, but I want to feel like I am getting decent value for money, a core feature that Skoda was built on. Many thanks.
  3. Interesting comments; thanks all. All I want to do is replace like for like around December time. The car has been fantastic, and just wanted another one. Guess I will have to wait to see what transpires, but it does seem to be pushing me into BMW 5 Series territory.
  4. Evening all. I have a lovely 1.4 TSI ACT SEL Executive (Best car I have ever had), and have just looked on the configurator for the facelift model. It is now over £30,500 and only available with 2.0 TSI with DSG. Am I missing something? Will it be available with the 1.5 TSI ACT? Also, Columbus is now an £800+ option. The price seems to have jumped massively and the spec dropped. 😧 Can someone clarify please? Thanks all.
  5. I agree; we should expect no problems at that age and mileage. But still, there is nothing like an MOT to make your blood run cold!
  6. Just had my first MOT in over twenty years (I normally don't keep my car that long). I have a 1.4 TSI ACT SEL Executive with 32000 miles on the clock. I have only just replaced front tyres for the MOT and the back still have 5-6 mm on them. In three years of ownership the report on the brakes showed just 10% wear on pads and discs front and back. This car has been amazing. Every time I get in it it still feels so solid and well put together. It really is a lovely place to sit. Park Assist also helps me park with a big fat smile on my face. I still get people approaching me in the street asking "Is that a Skoda mate?" , with an incredulous look on their face. Makes me laugh every time! I don't know whether I have got a 'good one', but I am genuinely over the moon after three years of ownership. Just wanted to share... Well done Skoda! Forgot to add....yeah it passed!
  7. Never thought I would say this....but the Candy white looks better. (IMHO) Without seeing them side by side, I would have instantly gone for Moon white. Is that at Johnson's Skoda Birmingham? I seem to recognise the buildings in the background.
  8. Just an update on this..... I took my car back to the dealers complaining about the rough gear change, and although the technician could not feel anything, they contacted Skoda UK, who advised them to change the gear shift mechanism. I now have a car that has very smooth gear changes and the clicking feeling has gone too. It is back to being very smooth and a joy to drive.
  9. Hi Speedman. This is only my experience....so here goes. I ordered a Superb SEL Exec and originally specified Pegasus wheels, as these looked very similar to the wheels on the VW CC (Which I really liked). However, my salesman did mention a few things to consider. He had spent many days in his dealership looking at a Superb with Pegasus alloys and his comment was that the sweeping curves of the Pegasus wheels did not complement the angular lines of the Superb. I went back to the configurator, and chose Zenith wheels again, and have to admit, he was right! The Zenith did match the angular lines of the Superb. This is what I ordered and have to say I don't regret it at all. I know you mentioned 18" Modus, but the same kind of principle applies. He also mentioned that the Pegasus wheels are prone to stone chips. I don't know if the same applies to Modus. All I would say is have a look at the car, then look at the wheels. Ask yourself if they are matched to the style of the car, if you know what I mean. Everybody will have an opinion, and no-one will be right or wrong; it's all very much down to personal taste at the end of the day. You have to go with what you feel is right at the end of the day. I don't regret having Zenith wheels, but I am sure many others will hate them.....
  10. I ordered park assist with my Superb SEL Executive and think that it is a great piece of kit. It will get you into spaces that you never thought possible, and get you out of them. I don't have need to use it often, but I am really glad I ordered it. Plus, you can park with a great big smile on your face as you see the car park itself! It's also useful when you are squeezing down a narrow lane as the sensors on the side will let you know if you are close to anything that you perhaps haven't seen. Well worth the money in my humble opinion.
  11. I get this when changing from 1st to 2nd; almost like a little bit of resistance in the clutch pedal or clutch mechanism. The immediate gear change is very notchy afterwards too. I have took mine back but the technician could not feel it. I am toying with taking it back in again, as it does not feel right.
  12. I too have the 1.4 Tsi ACT engine and I cannot tell any difference between 4 and 2 cylinders. The change is absolutely seamless.I have now covered about 2,600 miles and have not noticed the change once in all that time. I was at a traffic island this morning and I thought it was in start-stop mode (I had forgotten that I had switched it off earlier), and only knew it was running by looking at the rev counter. The engine is really quiet. Sorry that does not help you but the experience of a fellow 1.4 Tsi ACT owner can at least give you a point of reference.
  13. Hello everyone. Just wanted to say how sorry I am for you all in this situation. I bought from a dealer but had to travel from Birmingham to Southampton to get a good deal. I certainly do not begrudge anyone using a broker to get a good deal. We all want to get the best possible value that we can; that's just common sense to me. At the moment no one has a solution to this situation but I really hope you get the car that you all want. Again, really sorry for you all.
