  1. Hello all, With the summer almost here I started carrying the bike inside my Yeti for doing some workout during lunch at work. Although it is a clean road bike, the wheels are touching here and there the inside of the car leaving traces of dust. So I was thinking to put some sort of protection covering the trunk and the folded seats. The first idea that came through my mind was a simple huge sheet of plastic. But I feel it will make my car look like a crime scene. Next was to ask on Google about it and discovered they make similar stuff for transporting animals (never had an animal). I look for something fast to attach/detach, some Velcro or just simple straps will do, my bike will not try to escape the car. But I can't find something that I'm sure 100% it will fit the Yeti. I'm also looking for online delivery.   2. How do you find the acceleration when you resume the CC speed? For example set at 70, then disengage for going with 50 due to maybe a short road work zone and then press Resume to be again at 70. I feel like the car is using full throttle to get to the speed. My wife, and maybe myself a little, were a bit anxious when I did this for the first time, since we are not used with such aggressive acceleration. Since then I no longer use the Resume function if the speed difference is more than 15 km/h, I just prefer to accelerate myself. Otherwise I'm quite happy with the way CC works and where it is positioned. I try to use it as much as possible. An adaptive would would be nice. Taking into acocunt that I already have front parking sensors I don't see the difficulty of adding this functionality, it's only software; unless it uses other types of sensors. Yet lots of people are surprised that I don't have a speed limiter. When I ask them how much they use it, their answer is at best occasionally.
  3. I can't believe they don't have the option for a heated steering wheel. My hands are freezing when starting in the morning at -8, especially after de icing the car, although my butt is nicely warmed due to the heated seats. And yes, I did think of putting my hands under my butt.

I never had parking sensors until the Yeti and I wanted to ask: is it normal that from time to time they warn about object not being there?Example: I reverse out of a parking spot, safe distance from anything around me and suddenly for a second one of the sensors is red and my heart stops thinking I have hit a pole or worse, a child. A few times it happened even after I finished reversing and put it in the 1st. And it is always one the rear lateral sensors. It happens rarely 1 in 10 times or even less.
  5. When the temperature drops below 4 degrees Celsius, there is a bong and a snowflake showing on the maxidot.
  6. My previous car had a placeholder in the driver's door armrest. Very useful for keeping short term parking or highway tickets. Now I keep everything in the central space below the dash: my phone, my wallet, my office parking card and the tickets. Several times I had to look for small stuff in that low and dark space. I don't use the upper placeholder too often. There I keep only some gas loyalty cards and other not so important papers.

    winter yeti

    I've just changed to winter tyres, Fulda Krystal Control 2, some German manufacturer part of the Goodyear-Dunlop group so I hope they aren't that bad. I would have wanted a Dunlop which I have used on deep snow and ice for several years, but they were too expensive. Also took some 16" steel rims (they look horrible!) and 205/55 tyres for the possibility to put snow chains which are indeed useful only in heavy winter conditions but I go several times per season in the Alps.
  9. For the 300 euros I have paid for it I say it was worth it. But I wouldn't pay 500£.

  11. I also believe that in uncertain conditions the lights are programmed to stay on, just to be on the safe side. What are those conditions it depends for each car manufacturer I guess. When I go into tunnels all the cars turn on their light almost at the same time. When exiting the tunnel, it is not rare to still have my lights on when the car behind me "decided" to turn them off. Especially if the sun is behind the car it will take a lot of time until the Yeti turns them off. Another situation I experienced was while driving in the Alps, in the valleys, tall mountains on both sides of the road, sun and clear sky but my lights were on because of the shadow areas.
  12. Just wanted to say thanks for the app. It's really useful, especially for new owners the option to quickly browse the electronic manual is great. Also the quick tips with images. Regarding the AA/GM it's more like a love-hate relationship for me. I love the quick search, click and navigate w/o entering full addresses. On the other hand it did sent me into incoming traffic on a one way street last week. And living in a match box country like me makes it almost useless because of the roaming charges. Waiting for the end of roaming next year though. Regarding voice commands what I know/use: Play music -> starts Spotify on a random(?) track Navigate to work/home Call X How's the traffic-->zoom's out to show traffic around Search find [POI name/type] eg Search indian restaurant.
  13. Hello all, Thanks for this very informative topic. However I still have some things to clear before I hand out my credit card for a new set of complete wheels. So I have a 1.4 92kW 2wd Yeti which came with 7Jx16 ET45 wheels and 215/60 95H summer tyres. In the winter the car will see plenty of snow but hopefully not too much ice so dedicated winter tyres are a must. Changing only the tyres will cost me 100 euros/change so twice per year will be around 200. At this price I consider buying some complete wheels. The Skoda dealer proposed me some steel wheels +winter tyres at the price of 800 euros which is way too much, the same is around 500 online so I started looking for something online. In the car's Certificate of Conformity for wheel/tyre combination I have the following: (I exclude the 17") 205/55 R16 91H M+S 7Jx16 ET45 205/55 R16 91H M+S 6Jx16 ET50 215/60 R16 95V M+S 7Jx16 ET45 And now come the questions: 1. Why is there a higher speed rating for the winter 215/60, higher than the rest of the winter tyres but also than the summer ones, which is also H? Does it mean that if I buy a 215/60 H winter I might invalidate my insurance? (car's top speed being 187km/h, V is 240km/h that's a lot of margin. At my previous car I always bought the same speed index as the summer one) 2. Why are there different load indexes, from 91 to 95, car weight being the same, right? Searching for XL tyres reduces my options 3. What are the technical aspects the manuals talks about that prevent mounting snow chains in front for 215/60 tyres? 4. What type of wheel (steel or alloy) do you recommend for winter conditions (snow, ice, plenty of salt on the road)? 5. Can I use the same bolts between wheels? Thanks and I appreciate any answer.
  14. What other settings can be changed? The manual says: "The driving speed was higher than 4 km.h after the last stop" Is the 4 km/h parameter available?
  15. I drive a manual and it works just like the manual describes. Which is not ideal, though, like I said in an older post the speed limit after which it turn offs the engine again is too low, like 5km/h. Even in a stop&go traffic I go over this limit. The limit should be higher and among the other parameters it should also be the distance traveled, to avoid turning on and off the engine every couple of meters. Otherwise I'm quite happy with it. As a cyclist at a red light, I also prefer waiting behind a car with S&S rather than one without.
