  1. Hi guys so I'm looking to fit a tow bar to my mk2 octavia at present . I have come across a towbar locally but it came off a mk2 Leon. My question is will it fit the octavia? My thought on it is the fact the Leon and octavia share the same chassis the same as the golf too. It looks the same shape and mounting points as the octavia ones I have seen.
  2. I found an old thread on here and somebody had the same problems I have. They ended up finding out the black 460 relay was the issue. Has anyone else experienced this?
  3. OK guys I got my hands on a brand new swaag unit. When I removed the old unit it did seem to have a bit of resistance to it plus it was rusty and full of dirt. So I have fitted the swaag unit and the new heater resistor (valeo part) and the fan is still dead. I checked fuses and can't see anything. On mine the rear wiper and the fan unit are beside one another and share the same sized fuse so I swapped them about but I'm still not having any luck. As I started in another post I'm having a issue with the washer pump and rear wipers not working which I'm guess now is the stalk so I've ordered one off ebay to see what happens. But I'm rather stumped with the heater issue and don't really want to have to visit the auto spark.
  4. So guys I replaced the washer pump with a new one but still nothing . I'm now thinking due to the fact the rear wiper was intermittently working and it's now completely dead as is the pump is it potentially the wiper stalk that's the problem? If so is there anyway to remove the stalk with out removing the steering wheel?
  5. Well guys I don't think the issues I'm having at present are connected and I'm just having a run off bad luck atm. So I previously mentioned the heater blower not working. But yesterday I topped up the screen wash after driving about for a week or so with none in it. I then proceeded to wash the windscreen. The wipers done there thing at the front but there was no fluid. I can't even hear the pump going and the rear wiper seems to want to work every now and again and again no fluid and no noise from thr pump. So is it just potential the pump that's dead or am I over looking a fuse for it somewhere? Also the rear wiper is it potentially the motor dying ? Also the washer pump does it just pull out off the reservoir?
  6. Hi guys thanks for the replies. I just read my post again and I noticed a few auto corrects. So not the gearbox I meant the glove box. I was under the illusion the motor wasn't serviceable. So u was looking at replace with non branded one if I have too but if I can get a set of brushes and strip it out to lubricate the bearings I would . Has any one done this successfully or should I just replace??
  7. Hi guys the car has developed an issue with the heater blower. So the blower just stopped working on all numbers one morning so I assumed a fuse or motor kaput. But the following morning after sitting the motor was working on number 3 and 4. But it started to die off as if somebody was messing with a plug (hope this makes sense) and then it just stopped and wouldn't work. This happened 2 mornings instead row so I foolishly assumed the heater resistor. So I replaced it with a genuine valeo on from my local autoparts and best off all you can see where they have marked out the vag logo and vag part number. Any ways this hasn't solved my problem and the fan is just dead completely now. So is it going to be the motor or do I need to look elsewhere? I did read somewhere if there was a clicking type noise from the gearbox area its the motor that's kaput. But if had the clicking noise (which isn't constant) for sometime. But any help much appreciated guys.
  8. Hi guys. I've been looking at fitting a towbar to my mk2 but I can't find any on the second hand market. Though I've come across one atm that's was fitted to mk5/6 golf. Would this fit the mk2?
  9. Hi guys I'm looking to see ifbanyone can help me our with part numbers. I was looking for the blown up diagram thr dealers sort of use to try and trace the part but I can never find it and if I do its not the right one. So I have had an ongoing issue in regards to the coolant temp sensor. I had replaced both before and still had the issue which turned out to be a broken wire. So fast forward until now and it's reappeared. It was left in for the auto spark who changed the sensor again he said it was full of oil he has done this twice now and the light stays off for 24 hours and comes back on. I added a bottle oil leak stop as I think there was a small weep at thr edge of the block and it seems to have worked as it seems dry. Anyway I'm now assuming either the repair has broken or there's another break in the wire so I'm wondering if thr loom which the coolant sensor wire is part off is easily swapped out (just unplug no splicing) and if anyone can give me a part number to be armed with for tps ??
  10. High guys so time has come to let the 1.6 tdi superb hatch I have go. She's just so tired atm and not worth trying to sort for an mot in next couple of months. I had plans to travel over to UK mainland to try to get something with a bit of luxury. Anything in Northern Ireland seems to be poverty spec and anything with a drop of luxury seems to be well over priced. So I've saw a superb estate 1.6 tdi with over 150k miles which it has a towbar which I'm after too. But my question is how reliable is thr 1.6 tdi non greenline with 150+k miles . Yes my own one has 330+ miles but she was taxied and sort of looked after. I'm on tight budget atm and need to replace the car we have. So any help much appreciated guys especially for things to look out for when I go to view it.
  11. As in the title guys I'm looking to possibly fit leather seats to an estate but trying to find a local interior from an estate is difficult so I'm wondering if anyone knows if the saloon superb rear seats would fit?
  12. Thanks for your help. My dealer quoted me for the 40mm ones when I tried to explain to him.
  13. Well guys my car was away to see the auto spark due to some electrical issues. So long story short I got the car back but it had thrown the toys out of the pram later that evening throwing the eml back on and thr coolant sensor doing the sweep thing I had mentioned before. So I collected the car again today and the spark said the coolant sensor plug was full off oil again? So I asked the does it have an oil leak somewhere but they weren't 100% sure so I'm wondering if anyone one knows here has had the same issue to point me in the direction I should be looking for the oil leak.
  14. Eh first off thanks for thr response guys but as above I have struggled to find the part numbers on thr system hence me turning to here also I have ordered the bungs listed in the above response as it was the only one I could find too but they are too big. So I'd say the bungs must be around 20mm. I was considering duct tape but it's literally stick a plaster over the problem🤣.
  15. It's not a great pic ad it's of the Web as my cars in the garage atm. But it's the 2 grommets/bungs on the roof line beside the tailgate hinges. Mine have gone brittle and broken off into the roof hence I can't get the part numbers .
  16. It's the ones which would be beside the tailgate hinges I was given 2 that are too big. They have the rim with nippe in the middle.
  17. As in the title guys does anyone have a part number for the 2 bungs on the end of the roof at the tailgate??
  18. As in the title guys. I'm aware people have fitted the mk5 golf gti/r32 skirts with much success but I'm not a fan of the upturn on the dog leg. A guy in work bought a mk6 golf bluemotion and I've been looking at his side skirts fitted do his and I'm wonder if anyone would know if they would possibly fit the mk2? Only option ime left with is to try and get a day at the breakers to find a set and offer them up but some of the breakers here don't like you removing parts if you aren't taking them.
  19. Right guys let me thank softscoop again for his detective work on this issue, but there is always a bloody but! I had contacted my local skoda dealer with the new part number in hand and q high hope I'd have a towing eye cover in hand within the week. Well it's hasnt been that straight forward. My local dealer run the part number and said yes the FAA number is correct but he doesn't have the part in stock and can't order it from skoda as they dropped the part in July 2020 and didn't offer a replacement to it. So he checked the akoda dealers within the UK and know one has any old stock sitting anywhere. So I emailed a skoda dealer in Drogheda Ireland I knew off and enquired and again they didn't have the part can't order it and know one in Ireland has one either. So I came across a website based in Slovakia (oem something) and it's listed on there page but said they have no stock. I also contacted skoda uk to see if that can help and have any contact with the factory in the off chance (we can all hope) there's one in the factory somewhere but they don't deal with parts enquires. So at this moment in time I can either keep searching for one in the hope one appears on ebay (there is a complete red rear sport bumper there at present but I only paid £100 for the 2 bumpers and he's looking £120 for the rear only and I'd still need to ship it to Northern Ireland) or someone on here MIGHT have one or (and this is a big IF) if someone has one and can either have a copy made in a local 3d printing place or a CAD file I can take to my local company to have one or 2 printed (I understand there's costs involved and willing to pay them as long as it ain't overly priced) or if anyone on here has any contact with a skoda dealer in Europe who can put me in touch to source one? I know it sounds a bit excessive for a towing eye cover buy I like the look of the bumpers and it stands out from the vrs I think. So any help is appreciated guys.
  20. Thank you very much for thr detailed info in this.
  21. Right I have eventually tracked a sport owner who kindly sent me a pic of the towing eye cover but I'm assuming because the sports are rare its going to be a nightmare to track this number down?? I googled the number and nothing g came back apart from a mention on a Russian website and even the bumper skin over the rear bumper doesn't show on my local dealers parts catalogue???? So I don't know if anyone on here has a link or access to a parts catalogue I do have a family member who works at TPS and I'm hoping he can find something out tomorrow. The number on the cover is 1z0. 807.449 It is stamped by auto test which I assume manufactured the body kit?
  22. I had a look but it's only the standard one , vrs , scout and the face-lift one.
  23. That's the 2 tow eye covers the only other is the scout one. So it's there another "hidden" part number I haven't come across?
