  1. Sorry in the delay 1.6 cayc and 1.9 bjb
  2. As in the title guys I've sourced octavia sport bumpers but I'm missing the rear towing eye cover. Does anyone know the part number or if its the same as the vrs towing eye cover?
  3. Hi guys right I'm surprised this hasn't raised its head at present due to the current ongoing issue around fuel prices. I'm living in Northern Ireland and I'm an HGV driver and I have got about NI over the weekend and boy am I shocked. The cheapest I saw for diesel was 155.9p tonight and no wonder the forecourt was busy as its sitting at 181.9p in fermanagh and 172.9p in Newry it had jumped 20p a litre from Friday in some filling stations. So I'm considering bio diesel but again with everything you hear the horror stories I did have a 1.9 cdti vectra that I run on bio from time to time when I was doing pizza deliveries and never had any bother only real reason I stop was because the garage stop welling it as they didn't have the demand for it. But I've been told theres acouple of places starting to sell it again in an around belfast but I'm wondering on people views in it skoda engines I'm sur eim going to get the people I here just knocking it down straight away but I'd be interested to hear from anyone using or used it .
  4. I'm hoping there wouldn't be but will it sit any higher ad I'm looking to fit a set of 17" pegasus rims and don't want to be fitting lowering springs as I can't be bothered with the harsher ride the springs can bring.
  5. To be honest I think JR might be right the mileage isn't bang on its 200-300 miles out which Im not worried about I'm more worries if the immobiliser hadn't been sorted and decided to come on somewhere inconvenient. There hasn't been any other issue and the car starts and run and all the dials work I've done about 100 odd miles at present so seems to be fine. So I'm assuming it's the mileage. If I can be bothered and I'm not going to pay over the odds I'll see about getting it looked at as I've couple issues for mot to sort as it decided to snap a rear spring the other day.
  6. Hi guys I'm wondering if any one has pictures of a standard mk2 octavia on 17" Wheels? I currently have a set of 16" spectrum wheels on but I'm unsure if the car will sit too high on 17" wheels?
  7. Well to update I had the clocks coded and got them back tonight. I fitted them back in and they seem to be OK. I can now read the MFD and they even updated the mileage as I was sitting around 312k miles. Any way as soon as I turn the ignition on the cluster pings and error flashes where the mileage is. The car starts a drives and everything in-between so would I need the car scanned to see what the error is for ?
  8. Hi guys can someone hopefully help me? I have posted about changing the dash clocks on my car! So i spoke with the auto spark who said they can code them for me and has stated which I'm aware of is to get a set of clocks to march my car. Mine is a 2011 1.6 tdi 3t2 920 911H and the donor car I've found close by is 2010 (I think) 1.9 tdi 3t2 920 911D. From what I've read is the letter prefix at the end only seems identify what year/period the clocks are from for example if I was to purchase a new set from the dealer it could end up being 3t2 920 911K if I'm right in what I've read? So would anyone know if the D prefix would be suitable for my car as a set with the H prefix seem to be scarce .
  9. Did the cluster trigger the immobiliser before coding?? I'm needing to get a second hand set for my superb 1.6 tdi . But I've been told they need coded before fitting?
  10. Hi guys I had posted to see about repairing the MFD on the instrument cluster so needless to say I need to swap out the clocks now. I successfully fitted the ribbon buy the screen hasn't changed at all same pixels are dead so unless the lcd screen is kaput? Anyways I'm going to source a second hand set of clocks as I think a new lcd screen was around £75quid buy I can source a set of clocks cheaper buy I need to know do the clocks need to be uncoded from the donor car or what's involved? I'm aware the immobiliser is in the clocks and thr mileage will need corrected. So can anyone tell me what's involved and if anyone knows any vag specialists in and around Belfast that can assist?
  11. Hi guys I posted before about changing the MFD screen on my clocks well I'm actually getting round to start sorting this issue out. It seems to I can get a replacement flat ribbon for the screen via ebay but there's very limited info on the repair if none at all. Only info I can find relates to swapping out the leds on the clocks. I'm keen to give it a go myself but would have preferred to leave it in to someone but they have quoted a rough price of £150 but that's to swap my clocks and code in a second hand set they have refurbished? There's is plenty of companies on the mainland that seem to offer the service but it's the hassle of posting my clocks off and the extra expense of postage. I know the dealer charges around £1k to do that work and that £150 quid is a fraction of the price but if I can get info on repairing it myself it would save me a whole wad of cash. The MFD has pixels missing all over and its the mileage is unreadable and I've been told they'll not pass it for mot if they cant read the mileage. I'm unsure if the ribbon is clipped in or soldered on? Any help is much appreciated guys.
  12. Manual with 1.9tdi bjb lump fitted
  13. Hi guys the wife has just arrived home and shown me a video of the temp gauge going up and down . It goes up half way to 90 then drops . It will just bounce up and down . I haven't had any work done on the cooling side if the car. It had a a rad fitted around 4 years ago and the timing belt and pump done then too and it's done about 20k since then . I did have a break in the loom around then too which was repaired as it kept throwing temp sensor fault up even after I replaced both sensors. The car has thrown up eml from time to time in the last couple of weeks but isn't storing a fault. Is this just a possible iffy temp sensor or will I need to get it left to the mechanic for a look? 14. Hi guys this has probably been covered before but can I get away with fitting led main bulbs? I did read somewhere on here about hid kits killing the CCM ( I think? ) But I'm wondering if the leds do the same thing? I had run an hid kit in my 04 mk2 octavia with no issues for a long period but I've been told they would kill the CCM in the superb. Any help much appreciated guys.
  15. On that note am i better to fill with vw spec oil and add the likes of lucas high mileage additives??
  16. Yeah well the other thing is what am I going to disturb with a flush ? No I can get vw507 oil no problem but reading people are on the fence in regards to using high mileage oil. In theory it supposedly rejuvenates the likes of the rubber seals buy I don't know. I know she has used oil from the last service (father in law gifted us the car and serviced it before we got it) but it only throws the oil light on when cornering. My mate said he noticed a tinge of blue smoke on a start up buy that was months ago and I haven't noticed it since. She isn't smokey and there's no oil stains any where to seen (was in last month as it decided to through out the gearbox mount bolt and the belly tray was dry to.) The coolant isn't mixing its just dirty the bottle more so than the coolant but she had used water a few months back and due to not having access to coolant at the time I fired some water in so I want to drain and flush coolant system before the really cold weather sets in.
  17. Hi guys I'm looking to give the car a service. It has used some oil from I've acquired the car. It was serviced this time last year and I can guarantee it has never saw an engine flush in its life so I'm looking to flush the engine (and the coolant while its in as the the water looks rather brown ) and replace the oil. I'm considering using high mileage oil as she's currently on 310k miles but the problem is I can't find vw507 spec high mileage oil (although it specifies low ash) and I've read other forums that seem theres no great benefit from it.
  18. Thanks for the info is there a how2 anywhere or is it straight forward enough?
  19. Hi guys the MFD on the clocks had been missing pixels but in the last few days alot more pixels have died. Is there a how2 to fix this issue or can I just a second hand set from the breakers and have the mileage corrected? Only reason I'm asking is I have heard were people have changed the clocks and the car won't start due to the immobiliser being part of the clocks. I don't want to be out a great expense for this issue so I'm looking the cheapest option possible to rectify it
  20. Hi guys will a set of mk3 superb 18" zenith rims fit my mk2 superb ok? Has Anyone any pics with a set fitted?
  21. Cracking looking car 😎👌👌 Daft question is the car lowered or is that standard greenline springs?
  22. I know its been asked many times before but can some photoshop images of a superb for me? My car is an ex taxi and the bumpers etc need a tidy up but i dont to exspense of a body shop as the car is basically a run around for me but id like to tidy it up. As the car is an entry spec car i was wanting to play along the lines of a "poverty spec" look. My bumpers need painted (im hand enough with a rattle can) so i was thinking of painting the bumpers in a textured paint (not bed liner) my mate used to use to repair unpainted bumpers. As well as the door handles and mirror covers. Ive also got my eye on a cheap set of 17" vito steel wheels which i think will fit (there 5x112 anyway) I know its not to everyones taste but the cars too good to give it a "rat look" but not worth sending into a body shop either. In my head i can sort of picture it but with the bumpers being a big as they are i just want to make sure .
  23. Ok guys my father in law gifted us his old car as my last car was dying. He used it as a taxi and it needs a general tidy up to take the roughness of it. Although it runs sweet as a nut with 307k miles on it and flew through mot all it need was new callipers allround as the boots where all torn so pistons where knackered. Any way the car was hit in the rear last year but it was very minor damge and it was repaired, but the boot lock mechanism has been playing up so i stripped the rear plastic panel off to investigate as the boot would close then youd hear it pop and it would be sitting slightly open. So as i said i i looked at the mechanism and the only thing i noticed was a "rivet" that goes into the sliding bar (to pull the main lock down and hold it down) was sitting out . I placed it back into the bar it has sat in place for a few weeks but it has come out again. So the problem is i cant see any close up pics to see how the "rivet" was fixed in . So has anyone elese had this issue and how did they fix it ? My only thought is an m3 bolt through it?
  24. Hi guys my car has thrown the bulb out warning on the dash. But the only bulb i can see that is out is the drivers side wing mirror led. Would this throw the light on?? Just slightly desperate to sort it for tomorrow night as its up for mot so fingers crossed my local TPS has one in stock if not ill have to hope i can get a working one from a breakers.
  25. Hi guys is the a how 2 on hpw to remove the chrome caps on the prefacelift head lamps. I had a quick look and noticed some springs holding it in place . Im going to throw a lick of paint over them while i get the bumpers painted. Also on that note is the lower chrome lip on the grill just clipped in ? Again trying to de chrome the car.
